2GO supports sea turtle conservation through hatchling release in Cavite

Leading the activity were Rogelio Bilugan, President of the Samahan ng Labac Pawikan Patrollers (SLPP), 5th from right, and Mercy Grace Dionisio, AVP for Sustainability Compliance at 2GO Group, Inc., 6th from right.

2GO, the Philippines’ leading shipping and logistics solutions provider, continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental stewardship by supporting a sea turtle hatchling release activity in Naic, Cavite.

The initiative, organized with the local conservation group Samahan ng Labac Pawikan Patrollers, highlights the importance of protecting marine biodiversity and supporting community-led conservation efforts.

As part of its sustainability efforts, 2GO provided operational support to the organization through the donation of reinforced egg hatchery nets, a printer, and an office productivity software subscription. These resources help strengthen the group’s day-to-day monitoring, documentation, and protection of sea turtle nesting sites along the coast.

Mercy Grace Dionisio, AVP for Sustainability Compliance at 2GO Group, Inc., shared, “As a shipping company moving goods across the Philippines, we understand that our operations come with an environmental footprint. That is why we continue to find ways to operate more sustainably and take part in conservation efforts that protect marine life and biodiversity on which many communities rely. Through these efforts, we aim to safeguard these ecosystems as part of our service to the communities we serve and help preserve them for future generations.”

The activity culminated in the release of 70 sea turtle hatchlings into their natural habitat, a promising outcome that reflects the continued conservation efforts in the area. Each successful hatchling release helps strengthen sea turtle populations and contributes to the protection of marine biodiversity.

Beyond the hatchling release, the event also created opportunities for community engagement. Employees and volunteers participated in coastal clean-up efforts to help maintain a safe and healthy shoreline for marine life. The activity also included the formal turnover of the donated materials to support the patrollers’ ongoing conservation work.

Through partnerships with grassroots organizations such as the Samahan ng Labac Pawikan Patrollers, 2GO reinforces its role not only as a logistics solutions provider but also as a partner in initiatives that protect the environment and support local communities.

In recent years, 2GO has continued to strengthen its environmental sustainability efforts across its operations. The company has introduced packaging solutions that are almost entirely recyclable, reusable, and biodegradable, helping reduce waste across its logistics network. It has also deployed 48 electric forklifts in its warehouse operations and utilizes renewable energy in several of its logistics hubs. More recently, 2GO added two electric trucks to support its forwarding operations.

Ely Buendia unveils new “light and optimistic” single “Ate”

Legendary frontman Ely Buendia is back on our playlists with new song “Ate” to be released March 26 under his own label, Offshore Music Philippines.

After a year of the release of his tumultuous solo album “Method Adaptor” (2025), which garnered a string of praise from critics and fans alike, noted by Rolling Stone PH as “a sprawl of metaphors that thrive in paradoxes…”, and a continuously successful run of his intimate bar tour which shares the same name as the album, Buendia is far from taking a step back and is gearing up to expand his range and discography with solo single, “Ate”.

Official artwork for “Ate”

“I wanted to change the atmosphere a bit,” says Buendia in an interview about his upcoming single, noting the contrasting nature of his previous sonic masterproject and the new single, he pinpoints his intentions for shortly following up his grittier and more serious album, Method Adaptor, with a more “light and optimistic” new track. The song carries a softer tone in both instrumentation and lyricism, not novel to Buendia’s prowess but a stark difference to what the artist is currently known for. “The melody had such a nursery rhyme-feel which came directly from the harmonized lead guitar lines that go up the major scale,” Buendia discusses his rationality behind the inception of “Ate”. Saying as if the song itself embodies the mindset of seeing the positives in life’s ebbs and flows.

In addition with the idea of “Ate” being a break from the norm of the OPM icon’s current sound, the place where it was recorded was also something different for the “Bulaklak sa Buwan” singer, “I needed a change of pace. I love the weather there [Baguio],” citing a change in scenery was crucial in influencing the project. This overall chase for fresh air, perspectives, and sound were also present due to the inclusion of Shadiel Chan, music producer and label head of Nine Degrees North, where Buendia and his band recorded “Ate”. This marks the first collaboration between the Baguio producer and the singer. “Shad[niel] had a fresh take on everything. He works fast which I really like and had spot on instincts. I’m always up for working with new blood, there’s a lot you can learn from them.”

Speaking of young bloods, “Ate” was recorded by a slightly new set-up, with rising artists Dani Mendoza on keys and Jian Nisnisan on guitar, and alongside them were Chan on bass and Pat Sarabia on drums.

“Ate” by Ely Buendia is set to release on March 26 and will be available on all digital streaming platforms.

PCTO CALLS FOR MEASURED IMPLEMENTATION OF KONEKTADONG PINOY ACT AMID NATIONAL ENERGY EMERGENCY

The Philippine Chamber of Telecommunication Operators (PCTO) hereby respectfully submits this statement of concern in light of the prevailing national energy emergency and its significant impact on the telecommunications sector.

The PCTO acknowledges the importance of the Konektadong Pinoy Act and its objectives of expanding digital connectivity for all Filipinos. However, in consideration of the extraordinary circumstances currently facing the nation, the PCTO respectfully urges all relevant government agencies and regulators to give immediate and serious attention to the following:

1. EXTENDED AND SPACED POLICY CONSULTATIONS

Given the magnitude and urgency of the national energy emergency, the PCTO requests that policy consultations pertaining to the various issues such as the access list, dig once policy, SMPF, infrastructure sharing  & cybersecurity and others related to the implementing rules under the Konektadong Pinoy Act be extended and appropriately spaced. Compressed timelines and simultaneous consultation processes place an undue burden on stakeholders whose operational capacities are presently strained. Adequate spacing of consultations will ensure that inputs are substantive, well-considered, and genuinely reflective of the entire industry stakeholders’ position.

2. DUE CONSIDERATION FOR INTERNAL OPERATIONAL AND COST PRESSURES

The ongoing national energy emergency has given rise to significant internal challenges for telecom operators, including increased operational costs, supply chain disruptions, workforce constraints, and heightened demand for essential connectivity services. The PCTO respectfully requests that regulators give due consideration to these compounding pressures when crafting and enforcing policy timelines, compliance requirements, and related obligations under the law.

3. FULL UTILIZATION OF THE ONE-YEAR SMPF PROMULGATION PERIOD

The Konektadong Pinoy Act provides a period of one (1) year for the promulgation of the Spectrum Management and Policy Framework (SMPF). The PCTO strongly appeals for the full and meaningful use of this statutory period to allow for comprehensive consultation, collaborative drafting, and thorough review among all spectrum stakeholders. Rushing the SMPF process risks producing a framework that is inadequately aligned with technical realities, market conditions, and the long-term interests of both industry and the public.

4. MORATORIUM ON POLICY ISSUANCES DURING THE CRISIS PERIOD

Considering the foregoing, the PCTO respectfully appeals that, for the duration of the ongoing national energy emergency, the Government refrain from unduly rushing the release of any circular, directive, or policy that would materially affect the telecommunications industry. A moratorium and proper extension of time for stakeholder consultations is not merely a procedural accommodation,  it is a practical necessity.

The overriding urgency at this time is to ensure that the telecommunications industry remains operational, financially viable, and fully capable of keeping critical telecom infrastructure functional and resilient. Stability in the sector is not an industry interest alone, it is a public interest, as connectivity has proven indispensable in times of national crisis.

The PCTO remains committed to working constructively with all government agencies toward the shared goal of advancing digital connectivity for every Filipino.

Sari-Sari, Sama-Sama: Ajinomoto Drives Two Years of Community-Led Impact Through SariCycle

From Left to Right: Jonalyn Penas, BEST Sustainability Programs Officer, BEST Sustainability Executive Ayn Latorre, Top 1 SariCycler for 2024 & 2025, Carmen Ladisla, APC Chief Sustainability Officer Ernie Carlos, QC CCESD Programs Officer, Virgie Bangalan

In many Filipino communities, meaningful change often begins in the most familiar settings and starts with small actions—a sari-sari store counter neatly organizing sachets, or a mindful neighbor dropping off recyclables on the way home. When these simple efforts are multiplied across hundreds of people, they grow into more than just a community—they become a movement.

This everyday spirit of bayanihan was highlighted as Ajinomoto Philippine Corporation (APC) marked the second anniversary of SariCycle®, an innovative and adaptable plastic waste collection program that empowers local micro-entrepreneurs, particularly sari-sari store owners, to take an active role in reducing plastic waste and pollution in their communities.

In two years, SariCycle® has grown from a promising pilot into a working model of circularity  at the grassroots level. The program recovered over 27 metric tons or 27,000 kilograms of  single-use plastics (SUPs) in 2025. Overall, that’s equivalent to approximately 54 million  sachets, three times more of what was collected in 2024.

Behind the solid achievement are the more than 1000 SariCyclers across 30 barangays,  supported by APC’s significant collaboration with Basic Environmental Systems and  Technologies Inc. (BEST) and Quezon City’s Climate Change and Environmental  Sustainability Department.

At its heart, SariCycle® is a lifestyle program, as much as it is a sustainability initiative. Turning sari-sari stores into accessible eco-hubs encourages responsible waste behavior  that is convenient and rewarding. When recycling is simpler and incentivized, more  community members are likely to participate, and the continued collective effort is key to  moving communities closer to a sustainable circular economy.

During the celebration, APC honored the best SariCycling Barangays and SariCyclers,  whose consistent efforts essentially formed the backbone of this transformative program.

The top 5 SariCycling Barangays are: Barangay Pasong Tamo, Barangay Baesa, Barangay  Talayan, Barangay Bagong Silangan, and Lunas HOA Litex in Barangay Commonwealth.

Hon. Stephanie Tricia Pilar, Barangay Captain of Pasong Tamo, shared her delight as their  community took the first place, “Maraming salamat po sa Ajinomoto at sa QC government sa  napakagandang programa na ito. Dahil hindi lang po ito nakakatulong sa kalikasan, kundi  pati na rin sa bawat residente at komunidad.”

In addition, the program also recognized Carmen Ladisla as the Top SariCycler with her  consistent dedication and outstanding collection efforts. Completing the Top 3 SariCyclers  were Patria Uchi and Alicia Obedencia.

Konting sipag lang at kayang kaya natin mag ipon (ng sachet at basura) para iwas baha at  iwas polusyon. Para sa mas ligtas at mas maayos na buhay ng ating pamilya,” Ladisla shared.

As part of the initiative’s success, a new award category was also introduced: the Aji  Packaging Champions. This award recognizes the top collectors of Ajinomoto packaging,  reinforcing the importance of shared responsibility across the value chain. Alicia Obedencia  was recognized as the top Ajinomoto Packaging Champion, followed by Josephine Valdez and Naly Ramos, respectively.

For APC, addressing plastic pollution isn’t a solo effort. The company recognizes it as a  system built through partnerships to come up with innovations that are practical, scalable,  and rooted in real-life behavior.

This collaborative approach strengthens APC’s broader sustainability strategy and supports  its 2030 Roadmap goal of reducing environmental impact by 50%.

“I believe we are on track, based on our numerical records. From our plastic collection,  plastic reduction, even innovation in our packaging. In terms of greenhouse gas, our two  factories, one in Bulacan and one in Cebu are now operating under 100% renewable  energy,” stated Ernie Carlos, Chief Sustainability Officer of APC.

As SariCycle® enters its third year, APC remains committed to expanding its network of  SariCyclers, empowering more store owners, engaging more households, and designing  smarter and accessible ways for Filipinos to keep on recycling.

“For year three, we are very excited to announce that we will be expanding to several cities.  We are hoping to have the same engagement in other communities as well, by applying the  same strategies,” said Ayn Latorre, Sustainability Executive of Basic Environmental Systems  and Technologies Inc.

Sometimes, the most impactful environmental solutions don’t begin in boardrooms or factories—they start at the neighborhood store, among neighbors united by a shared purpose, all working sama-sama (all together) toward a cleaner, more circular Philippines.

CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso release new album FREE SPIRITS

FREE SPIRITS album artwork

CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso release their new album FREE SPIRITS, a bold and wildly inventive project from one of the most unpredictable acts in global music.

If PAPOTA introduced a wider audience to the duo’s singular universe, FREE SPIRITS expands it even further. Across the album, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso stretch their already unpredictable blend of trap, rock, pop, and left-field spectacle into something bigger, sharper, and more emotionally unguarded, without losing the humor, volatility, and musicianship that have made them one of the most magnetic acts to emerge from Argentina this century.

WATCH: FREE SPIRITS SHORT FILM

The album arrives following a surreal campaign that included “GOO GOO GA GA” featuring Jack Black and “HASTA JESÚS TUVO UN MAL DÍA,” featuring Sting, who was unveiled as the unlikely architect of the mysterious FREE SPIRITS Center, a fictional holistic retreat that became the conceptual backdrop for the album’s rollout. Across the project, CA7RIEL & Paco, and their featured guests––Sting, Jack Black, Fred again.., and Anderson .Paak––undergo Sting’s FREE SPIRITS therapies to channel ego death, absurdity, personal reckoning, and hard-won clarity into a body of work that feels both wildly entertaining and unexpectedly revealing. Watch the album’s accompanying short film to get a more detailed sense of the groundbreaking techniques employed at the FREE SPIRITS Center.

Part-Filipino American musician, artist, and actor from Euphoria, Dominic Fike, leads the Spotify Global Chart at #1 for the song ‘Babydoll’

For the first time in his career, Filipino-American musician, artist, and actor Dominic Fike has reached no. 1 on the Spotify Global Chart with his song “Babydoll.” The chart milestone shows a significant global streaming increase for the track, positioning the fast-rising pop star as one of this year’s breakthrough bets.

“Babydoll” first made waves as an official single in 2018, released as the third song on his criminally underrated debut EP, Don’t Forget About Me, Demos. Solely penned and produced by Dominic Fike himself, the intimate, lo-fi bop continues to find new audiences, enjoying a renewed surge in listenership across all platforms.

The track’s ascent to the summit of the streaming charts was propelled in part by the release of its official music video on March 5, 2026.

Dominic Fike is better known for his role in the HBO series, Euphoria, where he has appeared as part of the show’s ensemble cast. His dual presence in music and television has contributed to his broader visibility and audience reach.

Dominic Fike’s “Babydoll” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. Watch the music video here.
