The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) partners with 2GO Travel to transport OTOP products across the Philippines via sea routes

(From left) Assistant Secretary Nylah Rizza D. Bautista of the Competitiveness and Innovation Group of the Department of Trade and Industry; Undersecretary Blesila A. Lantayona of the Regional Operations Group; Francis John Chua, Business Unit Head of 2GO Travel; and George Clayton Narag, Head of Product Development of 2GO Travel.

2GO, the country’s leading sea travel provider, has entered into a partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) aimed at boosting the development of Filipino micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This collaboration seeks to help MSMEs access broader markets by offering cost-effective sea transport for trade activities and by introducing OTOP Nooks on board 2GO Travel passenger vessels.

Under the agreement, DTI-endorsed MSMEs participating in official trade fairs can take advantage of specially discounted sea travel rates. Entrepreneurs are also granted up to 50 kilograms of baggage allowance, making it easier to transport various products across destinations. In addition, OTOP Nooks will be established on all 2GO Travel passenger ships, serving as onboard retail spaces where MSME products under the OTOP Philippines Program can be displayed and sold. This initiative not only opens new sales channels for locally made goods but also allows travelers to discover and purchase Filipino products while on board.

DTI Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona emphasized the importance of expanding opportunities for MSMEs, noting that “this initiative strengthens the presence of proudly Filipino products beyond their home regions and enables MSMEs to reach more consumers nationwide, with sea travel supporting their growth and mobility.”

2GO will offer special discounted rates for DTI-endorsed MSMEs joining official trade fairs, along with exclusive travel and cargo support to streamline their participation.

Francis John Chua, Business Unit Head of 2GO Travel, shared that “this collaboration allows both established and aspiring MSMEs to tap into our sea travel network, and we hope that they take advantage of their 50kg baggage allowance that comes with every 2GO Travel ticket. This actually means that starting and growing your own business has never been easier. Now, you can carry the trade you want to sell with you, bring your products directly to passengers across key routes, and strengthen your visibility while maximizing our onboard retail platform.”

The first OTOP partnership between DTI Region XII and 2GO Travel was launched onboard MV 2GO Masinag. With the signing of this nationwide MOA, the initiative now expands to cover all 2GO Travel passenger vessels, further connecting local entrepreneurs to a broader customer base.

Pru Life UK extends beyond traditional insurance coverage by offering a more integrated and connected healthcare experience

Pru Life UK is reinforcing its commitment to helping Filipinos lead healthier, more secure lives by simplifying and personalizing healthcare, while expanding access to comprehensive services through partnerships with The Medical City (TMC) and Hi-Precision Diagnostics (HPD).

Through its Gift of Health campaign, customers, agents, and employees can benefit from practical health offerings that support early detection, prompt intervention, and access to quality care.

A key feature of the campaign is a complimentary non-communicable disease (NCD) risk assessment with The Medical City, designed to identify potential risks for chronic conditions through interview-based screening. With the high prevalence of lifestyle-related illnesses developing quietly and without symptoms, early detection plays a crucial role in preventing complications and improving long-term health outcomes.

Eligible individuals can also benefit from savings on selected outpatient services from both The Medical City and Hi-Precision Diagnostics, as well as discounts on The Medical City inpatient services for selected critical illnesses. With medical inflation and out-of-pocket expenses on the rise, this add-on benefit makes quality healthcare more accessible and manageable.

In addition, they can enjoy access to personalized medical concierge support at The Medical City, with a dedicated care team helping guide them through every step of their healthcare journey: from priority scheduling of doctors’ and diagnostic appointments, to navigating their hospital visit with ease.

These services are available across all The Medical City locations (Ortigas, Clark, Iloilo, Pangasinan and South Luzon) and Hi-Precision Diagnostics’ 60+ clinics nationwide, providing greater convenience and access to trusted healthcare providers.

“The Gift of Health reflects our shift towards a more holistic approach in enhancing the lives of Filipinos, by delivering meaningful and relevant everyday benefits beyond just insurance protection,” said Wai CW Kwok, Pru Life UK interim Chief Customer & Marketing Officer. “By making preventive care and early detection more accessible, we empower our customers, agents, and employees to Count on PRU as they take charge of their wellbeing and enjoy greater peace of mind.”

The Gift of Health benefits are available until December 31, 2026, for eligible Pru Life UK policyholders who enroll and link their active plans through PRUServices, as well as for agents and employees.

BSB Junrose Corporation showcases improved fuel efficiency through Liqui Moly oils, additives, and advanced protection technologies

With fuel prices steadily increasing, motorcycles are becoming a more efficient way to move people and goods nationwide. The motorcycle community in the Philippines continues to expand, fueled by demand from everyday commuters, ride-hailing services, delivery riders, and enthusiasts.

As this demand grows, both riders and passengers are placing more value on safety, reliability, and fuel efficiency. In response, many are looking for solutions that enhance efficiency without sacrificing performance or safety.

During a media gathering at the BSB Junrose Corporation display booth at the 10th Makina Moto Expo, held at the SMX Convention Center on April 10, 2026, BSB President Ian Bangayan emphasized that rising fuel prices make engine efficiency and smarter vehicle operation more relevant than ever.

Understanding the Efficiency Gap

Not all fuel that enters an engine is fully utilized or converted into usable power. Everyday riding conditions such as traffic, heat, and short-distance travel contribute to increased internal friction, carbon buildup, and reduced overall efficiency.

Over time, these factors lead to higher fuel consumption, reduced mileage, and lower engine performance. They may also contribute to increased maintenance requirements and long-term repair costs.

Minimizing Friction, Maximizing Efficiency

Bangayan highlighted the importance of using Liqui Moly, a globally trusted German brand of motor oils, additives, and engine protection technologies. Through lubrication innovations such as MoS₂ and Molygen, Liqui Moly helps reduce internal friction, improve efficiency, and protect engine performance over time.

MoS₂ works by minimizing metal-to-metal contact, reducing friction and wear inside the engine. Molygen, on the other hand, helps keep the engine clean by reducing carbon deposits and supporting smoother operation over extended use.

Minimizing internal friction results in smoother, quieter engine performance and allows the engine to operate more efficiently, using less fuel over time.

Efficiency and Control in Focus

“As fuel prices continue to rise, these technologies help riders maximize every liter and reduce unnecessary fuel loss,” said Bangayan. “When we look at the bigger picture, it is no longer just about individual components. It is about how efficiency and safety work together to support better, more reliable riding. We may not control fuel prices, but we can control how efficiently we use fuel.”

In addition to Liqui Moly motor oils, additives, and motorcycle care products, the BSB Junrose booth also showcased Brembo motorcycle braking components, highlighting the balance between safety and efficiency, along with JTEKT bearings, Bosch horns, and motorcycle batteries.

You can check out the BSB Junrose Corporation exhibit at the 2nd Floor, Hall F5 of the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, open until Sunday, April 12, 2026.

BSB Junrose Corporation expands the availability of Brembo motorcycle brake systems across the Philippines

Braking is the most vital aspect of any vehicle. While performance, efficiency, and comfort improve the overall riding experience, dependable and effective stopping power ultimately determines a rider’s control and safety on the road.

This is especially true for motorcycles, where braking performance plays a crucial role. Brembo brake systems and components—well known for their presence in high-performance European bikes—set a benchmark for premium braking technology. However, their availability in the Philippine market has not always been consistent.

This made me realize that no matter how advanced a vehicle is, braking is still the most important factor for safety. It also showed how brands like Brembo set a high standard in motorcycle braking performance. At the same time, it highlights the need for better access to these reliable components in the Philippines.

Responding to Growing Demand for Premium Braking

BSB Junrose Corporation, Brembo’s official partner in the Philippines and one of the country’s leading distributors of automotive and motorcycle parts, is reinforcing its commitment to the more consistent availability of Brembo motorcycle braking components for local riders.

This marks a shift toward more dependable access to premium braking systems, particularly for owners seeking performance upgrades.

Mr. Ian Bangayan, President of BSB Junrose Corporation

“The demand for high-quality motorcycle braking components in the Philippines continues to grow,” said Ian Bangayan, President of BSB Junrose Corporation. “Riders today are more conscious of both safety and performance, making braking systems a critical part of their overall riding setup.”

Bangayan shared these insights during a media gathering at the BSB Junrose display booth at the 10th Makina Moto Expo, held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on April 10, 2026.

Reinforcing Reliability in the Local Market

With decades of experience in the automotive and motorcycle parts industry, BSB Junrose Corporation continues to respond to evolving market needs by strengthening access to premium brands such as Brembo.

“Brembo braking systems are premium products, and we always emphasize proper component matching—including brake fluids—to ensure safe and reliable performance,” Bangayan added.

While Brembo brake upgrades were initially more common in the automotive segment, increasing demand from motorcycle riders has driven BSB Junrose Corporation to expand its focus on motorcycle braking systems.

Today, riders can upgrade their factory braking systems with greater confidence, supported by more dependable access to Brembo motorcycle braking components through BSB Junrose Corporation.

Performance, Safety, and Control

As braking performance continues to gain importance among riders, the role of reliable component access becomes increasingly critical. Strengthening the availability of Brembo motorcycle braking systems allows riders to make performance upgrades that directly impact safety, control, and overall riding confidence.

In addition to Brembo motorcycle braking components, the BSB Junrose booth also showcased Liqui Moly motor oils, additives, and motorcycle care products, along with JTEKT bearings, Bosch horns, and spark plugs.

You can visit the BSB Junrose Corporation exhibit at the 2nd Floor, Hall F5 of the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, open until Sunday, April 12, 2026.

Mark Carpio writes the ending he never expected in new EP, Huling Pag-ibig

Listen to the focus track “Paalam Na,” a powerful meditation on closure and healing

OPM hitmaker Mark Carpio drops his highly anticipated new EP, Huling Pag-ibig—released under EMPIRE.PH Music and ONErpm. Marking a milestone in his 10-year career, the 4-track EP weaves themes of love, loss, and emotional closure into one cohesive sonic package. Both introspective and freeing, the project also serves as an ending to a well-loved music era—one that positioned Carpio as both a prominent balladeer of his generation and a gifted songwriter known for his poignant yet earnest storytelling.

With nearly 400 million streams on Spotify and a catalog of hits, Carpio continues to build on his strength as a reliable pop artist. His latest offering reinforces this reputation, presenting an introspective collection of songs that connects his music roots with present-day narratives.

Conceptually, Huling Pag-ibig is a continuation of Carpio’s earlier works: the optimistic yearning of “Hiling” and the romantic realization of “Kay Tagal.” This time, Carpio shifts the narrative and confronts the possibility that long-awaited love may not unfold as hoped. The result is a cohesive exploration of love’s evolution: from persistence to loss, heartbreak to acceptance. The intentional structure enables listeners to experience Huling Pag-ibig not merely as a collection of tunes but as a continuous emotional journey.

“This EP is the twist of that story,” explains the entertainment multi-hyphenate. “It asks, what if, after all that waiting, things didn’t turn out the way I hoped? Huling Pag-ibig is about that journey—fighting for love until your very last drop of hope and learning to let go when there’s nothing left.”

The EP’s emotional depth is matched by its meticulous songwriting, which has evolved over the course of ten years. Many of the songs started as unfinished ideas during the early stages of Mark Carpio’s career, only reaching its full potential later through personal reflection, lived experience, and shared stories of his fans. Through platforms like TikTok and his “Kape Tayo” series, the chart-topping solo artist helped empower his listeners to participate in the creative process, ultimately contributing to an EP that uniquely functions as a shared emotional experience.

All the tracks in the EP showcase a distinct style that adds up to the record’s emotionally rich sound. The title track, produced by RJ Pineda, draws inspiration from Adele’s sweeping ballads but is reimagined through a distinctly Filipino lens. “Ayaw Mo Na,” co-written with Ethan Loukas, taps into a more organic folk direction—thanks to its storytelling-driven lyrics and heart-tugging warmth. “Paano Ba Mag-isa” sounds like a return to form, offering a stripped-down, melodic approach that is steeped in classic ballad traditions.

Serving as the EP’s masterpiece is the focus track “Paalam Na,” produced by Line In Productions’ Nikhil Amarnani. A clear departure from his mellow, piano-backed ballads, the tune leans toward alternative pop/rock sensibilities. As the final chapter of the EP, “Paalam Na” reveals itself as a powerful meditation on closure: accepting that some things are meant to end, even as healing is still underway.

Carpio shares, “It’s also the song that took me the longest to write. I started writing it right after Hiling and Kay Tagal, but it took me almost 10 years to fully understand what it was about.”

According to Carpio, the finishing touches on the song came after a recent interaction with a close friend. “It was only when a friend of mine came to my studio after a breakup. He didn’t say much—he was just sitting there, trying to hide his sadness after ending a long-term relationship. That moment stayed with me. It gave me the clarity I needed to finally finish the song. In the EP, it represents closure—accepting that she has already moved on, even if you’re still in the process of letting go.”

Coinciding with Carpio’s decade-long anniversary as a recording artist, the new EP represents a moment of creative transition. Shedding off his “hugot” king persona, Carpio hints that the current record may signal the end of his ballad-driven era while opening doors to new creative reinventions for future music releases.

“This could be the closing chapter of that side of me,” Mark Carpio reveals. “What comes next is something I’m really excited about—but I’ll reveal that after this EP.”

Mark Carpio’s “Huling Pag-ibig” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide.

Built on themes of matriarchal narratives and language preservation, the project reflects an important intersection of heritage and contemporary hip-hop culture. Following a well-lauded performance in Shibuya, Japan, HengJones is currently working on a new material featuring a Japanese producer, alongside major appearances  and an upcoming nationwide tour in his home country, Taiwan.

Novo Nordisk reinforces its commitment to advancing obesity care in the Philippines

new generation of weight management treatments signals a breakthrough in care

Backed by over a century of scientific leadership in obesity and diabetes care, global healthcare company Novo Nordisk is strengthening its commitment to improving treatment for people living with obesity in the Philippines, as a new wave of therapies becomes available to Filipino patients.

Central to this progress are glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists—medications that mimic a natural hormone in the body responsible for regulating hunger and blood sugar. These treatments help individuals feel fuller for longer, curb cravings, and better control their appetite, while also supporting improved blood sugar management for those with diabetes.

This dual benefit marks a significant shift in how obesity and related conditions are treated—not as matters of willpower, but as chronic diseases requiring medical care.

The rise of GLP-1–based treatments represent one of the most important breakthroughs in metabolic health in recent years. These medicines have, over time, demonstrated substantial and sustained weight loss outcomes in clinical studies—bringing obesity treatment closer to the effectiveness of surgical interventions, but in a less invasive form.

According to the National Library of Medicine, GLP-1 RA medications have revolutionized weight loss and can reduce body weight in obese patients by between 15% and 25% on average after about one year. Their mode of action is to mimic the endogenous GLP-1, an intestinal hormone that regulates glucose metabolism and satiety.

This evolution reflects decades of research into the biology of hunger, hormones, and weight regulation, culminating in therapies that address the root causes of obesity.

“We are entering a new era in obesity care in the country. One that is grounded in science, compassion, and long-term solutions,” said Wei Sun, general manager of Novo Nordisk Philippines. “For many years, people living with obesity have been left with limited options and significant stigma. Today, with advancements in treatments that work with the body’s natural systems, we could transform outcomes for patients across the Philippines.”

Patient safety

As these innovations become more accessible, Novo Nordisk emphasizes the importance of patient safety and proper medical guidance. The company urges patients to seek consultation with qualified healthcare professionals and to use only approved, regulated medicines.

With the growing global demand for weight management treatments, there has also been a rise in compounded or unregulated versions that may not meet the same standards of quality, safety, and efficacy.

“Patient safety must always come first,” Sun added. “We strongly advise against the use of unapproved or compounded alternatives that bypass strict regulatory processes. These products may pose serious health risks and do not offer the same assurance of safety and effectiveness as approved medicines.”

Beyond treatment availability, Novo Nordisk’s initiatives in the Philippines concentrate on raising awareness of obesity as a chronic illness, providing healthcare professionals with up-to-date medical education, and collaborating to increase access to safe, evidence-based care.
