The Honda Foundation and TAMANG RIDE PH have renewed their partnership for road safety initiatives in 2026

Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) and Tamang Ride PH, a road safety advocacy group run by A Child’s Trust is Ours to Nurture, Inc. (ACTION), have extended their collaboration for a another year. The partnership began in January 2025 as HFI sought to reach more beneficiaries. Through campus programs that educate students on appropriate road safety behaviors, HFI has been able to reach younger audiences thanks to ACTION’s advocacy of explicitly catering to youngsters and novice road users.

HFI and Tamang Ride PH collaborated once more to hold Students on Safety on February 28, 2026, at the Paranaque National High School San Isidro Annex, Paranaque City, as a follow-up to the just finished Kids on Safety activities earlier this month. As part of the inauguration program, representatives from Tamang Ride PH and HFI signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

As a follow up to the recently concluded Kids on Safety events earlier this month, HFI and Tamang Ride PH joined forces once again to conduct Students on Safety last February 28, 2026 at the Paranaque National High School San Isidro Annex, Paranaque City. HFI and Tamang Ride PH representatives signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) as part of the opening program.

[Left Photo, L-R] HFI Exec. Dir. Crecelle San Jose; HFI / HCPI President Ms. Rie Miyake; Tamang Ride PH President & Founder Mr. Hajime Yokota; Tamang Ride PH Exec. Dir. Ms. Lani Llanes
[Right Photo, Back Row] HFI Adviser Mr. Masaru Onozuka; HFI Board of Trustees- Mr. Tomoyuki Mabuchi (HTPE), Mr. Takeshi Kobayashi (HPI), Ms. Lani Delmo (HTPE); and HSDC Sect. Mgr. Mr. Alvin Arquileta

While the Kids on Safety event was geared towards children aged 7-10 years old, Students on Safety was for teenagers aged 16-18 years old to learn about their responsibilities as future drivers and everyday commuters. It also served as their pre-licensing preparation as they will soon be eligible to apply for their own driver’s license. Tamang Ride PH curated these modules specifically for this target audience based on the foundations of Honda Safety Driving Center’s (HSDC) Teen Smart program.  By the end of the event, 100 students were equipped with the proper mindset to follow traffic rules and correct riding practices.  To make the experience feel more realistic, HSDC set up not only a Test Ride but also a Learn to Ride (LTR) activity to allow inexperienced and amateur riders to try out different Honda motorcycles onsite with the guidance of HSDC instructors.

Ms. Rie Miyake, President of HFI, said, “We are grateful to have found a partner like the Tamang Ride PH team. From their president and founder, Mr. Hajime Yokota, and even to the rest of the team, they truly embody the same passion we have for road safety, which you can see translates to our insightful and practical activities with them. We look forward to working with them once again.  We hope we can inspire other Filipinos to be more involved in our advocacy since road safety should be a shared goal for all of us.”

With this extended partnership, Honda aims to strengthen its commitment to its 2050 global safety goal of achieving zero collision fatalities involving any Honda vehicle, and by 2030, the company aims to reduce the number of these fatalities by 50%.

A national road safety initiative called Tamang Ride PH aims to make roads safer for everyone, beginning with young drivers and youngsters. In 2025, HFI became a “Road Safety Ambassador” for Tamang Ride PH, and HSDC took part in the creation of instructional materials. Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), Honda Parts Manufacturing, Corp. (HPMC), and Honda Trading Philippines Ecozone, Corp. (HTPE) are all members of HFI. For additional information on HFI, call 0917-578-8723 and (02)-8581-6700 to 6799.

Made entirely of recycled materials, BPI introduces a new eco-friendly Debit Mastercard

BPI launches its new Debit Mastercard made from 100% recycled,
PVCfree plastic—promoting more sustainable everyday banking.

In an effort to promote more environmentally friendly banking options, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has introduced a new Debit Mastercard made entirely of recycled, PVC-free plastic.

Both new customers who open an account through a BPI branch and current customers whose cards are about to expire or need to be renewed can get the new Debit Mastercard for free. For a regular replacement price of Php 200, customers who want to switch to the new recycled, PVC-free card outside of their renewal schedule may do so.

With more than 8.2 million debit cardholders countrywide, BPI is one of the top debit card issuers in the nation. The bank’s efforts to provide Filipinos with more responsible and future-ready financial products have reached yet another significant milestone with the arrival of the new environmentally friendly BPI Debit Mastercard.

“Reimagining the BPI Debit Mastercard to become an eco-friendly card is a testament to BPI’s commitment to its values of sustainability and innovation. At BPI, we want to connect more with our eco-conscious clients while also encouraging others to practice sustainable habits. By using sustainable materials for our card, we hope to make sustainable behavior the default option for everyone,” said Jenny Lacerna, Head of Mass Retail, BPI.

Clients can request the new card through the BPI app or BPI online and selecting their preferred branch for pickup. A Php 200 fee applies to all card requests made through these digital channels. Those replacing an existing card only need to block their current one in the BPI app to start the replacement process. Cards are available for pickup at any BPI branch within two to six banking days, depending on location. Clients may also visit any branch for assistance.

Beyond sustainability, the card also features thoughtful design enhancements—including a curved notch at the bottom left corner that helps users identify and orient their card by touch, improving accessibility and making it easier to distinguish from other cards.

With the new card, BPI Debit Mastercard holders can continue to enjoy the trusted convenience and security they rely on—secure payments online, in-store, and abroad; contactless transactions; easy access to cash via ATMs worldwide; and 24/7 account control through the BPI app.

“The BPI Debit Mastercard is still the same card that our clients rely on—stylish, secure, and now more sustainable,” added Lacerna.

BPI continues to promote sustainability while providing Filipinos with useful, inclusive, and accessible financial products through innovations like the environmentally friendly Debit Mastercard.

Eastern Promotes Sustainability with First Gen Partnership to Use Renewable Energy to Power Key Tech Sites and Makati HQ

From left to right: Jed Estanislao, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer at Eastern Communications, Alvin Harilla, Head of Enterprise Sustainability and Governance at Eastern Communications, Arvin Barcena, Head of General Affairs and Administration at Eastern Communications, Atty. Aileen Regio, Eastern Communications Co-coordinator, Arlene Sy Soriano, Head of Sales and Engagement at First Gen Corporation, Jaeson Evangelista, Eastern Communications Co-coordinator, Maychelle Soriano, L ead Customer Progress Partner at First Gen Corporation, Melanie Tumang, Customer Progress Partner at First Gen Corporation, Macy Olazo, Customer Experience Officer at First Gen Corporation

Eastern Communications’ (Eastern Comms) use of renewable energy (RE) has increased from 2% to 10% throughout its offices and operations centers, which is a noteworthy and quantifiable milestone in operational dependability and environmental performance.

The increase in RE use coincides with Eastern Communications’ completion of its switch to geothermal energy, which was made possible by a strategic alliance with First Gen Corporation (First Gen).

Through this partnership, First Gen will supply geothermal energy to power the telco provider’s Makati headquarters and key Technical Operations Centers (TOCs), reinforcing the Eastern Comms’ view that future-ready digital infrastructure must be supported by clean, resilient energy.

“This partnership represents a clear step forward in how we power our operations,” said Atty. Aileen Regio, Co-coordinator of Eastern Comms. “By integrating geothermal energy into key facilities, we are reinforcing the resilience of our core infrastructure. Sustainability, for us, is directly linked to service continuity and long-term performance.”

The geothermal energy is sourced from facilities in Leyte, reinforcing the role of indigenous renewable resources in securing the country’s energy future. For Eastern Comms, the partnership ensures that critical network facilities—those that keep enterprises connected—are backed by stable, dependable power while also lowering carbon emissions.

The transition is enabled by the government’s Retail Competition Open Access (RCOA) program, which allows large electricity consumers to directly contract with power suppliers. Through RCOA, Eastern Comms is able to make deliberate energy choices that align with its long-term sustainability strategy while strengthening efficiency across its facilities.

“Increasing our renewable utilization is a concrete milestone. Together with the 222 kW solar capacity already supporting our Makati HQ and TOCs, our adoption of renewable geothermal energy strengthens our ability to operate efficiently while aligning with national climate priorities and the broader shift toward a circular economy,” said Jaeson Evangelista, Co-coordinator of Eastern Comms.

The renewable energy shift forms part of the telco provider’s ongoing infrastructure modernization initiatives, which include intelligent automation upgrades, energy-efficient systems, and phased disaster resilience projects designed to fortify its facilities and core network. These investments reflect the company’s 2026 direction, “Dare To Soar,” anchored on innovation, reliability, and responsible growth.

The collaboration with First Gen shows how digital innovation and sustainability are becoming more intertwined as Eastern Communications pursues its “Dare To Soar” approach. Using renewable energy to power vital facilities is a calculated step toward creating a network that is more resilient and prepared for the future.

The first race weekend, happening on March 13 to 15, 2026, will be seeing the Tamaraw OMR or one-make-race car on the streets of Riverpark, Cavite, for its first official circuit race. Admission is FREE.

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has been holding the TGR Philippine Cup, its premier one-make-race series, since 2014 as a way to bring the thrill of motorsports closer to Filipinos. Last year, more than 12,000 spectators enjoyed exciting races and driving exhibitions, musical performances by OMP rockstars, vehicle displays, and more, when the racing action was brought to the south of Manila in Bacoor, Cavite.

Now in its 12th season, the TGR Philippine Cup is officially adding the Next Generation Tamaraw OMR to its lineup of locally made racing vehicles, alongside the Vios OMR. As a one-make-race event, same-spec Tamaraw OMRs will be going wheel-to-wheel in Sprint Races, showcasing driver skill and grit.

The Tamaraw OMR was previewed to racing fans as the Tamaraw Racing Concept last year and has since been developed through continuous testing on track. In February 2026, TMP made the Tamaraw Race Car Package available to interested racers and racing teams.

The new locally made racing platform will be highlighting the event in the Sprint Race under a new racing class – the Tamaraw Racing Class. Racing for Team TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippines is TMP President Masando Hashimoto, along with new racers Chenee Jimenez, Alex Lim also known as Banaweboy, Justin Buzzhype, Enzo Ison and Will Lucas. They will be up against former Vios Cup champions from other top racing teams in the Philippines such as Iñigo Anton, Dominic Ochoa, Alain Alzona and Jesse Garcia.

The Sporting Class, Super Sporting Class, and Legacy Class will also be returning to the streets with the Vios OMR in the Sprint Races. The 2026 grid will be seeing 30 racers pushing their limits for better on the tracks.

Fans can expect adrenaline-packed action as the racing vehicles take on the 2.4km street track located in Riverpark, a Federal Land Community in General Trias, Cavite, 35 minutes away from Metro Manila.

There will also be displays of TMP’s Toyota GR performance vehicles, Lexus favorites, as well as soon-to-be-launched Toyota vehicles such as the RAV4 and Urban Cruiser.

Those who want to get a feel of what it’s like to be a racer can head over the e-Motorsports display, where they can try their hand at the sim racing rigs. Original GR merchandise will also be available for purchase at the event.

Members of Toyota car clubs can also look forward to an exclusive track day where they can experience the streets of Riverpark with their performance vehicles.

“It will be another thrilling year as we kick off a GRipping and GRitty season of the TGR Philippine Cup! By adding new playgrounds in Cavite and Batangas, it will surely make the hearts of all motorsports fans race. I recently tried out the Tamaraw OMR in a drift track in Pampanga and it really made me wow! I cannot wait for more people to experience what this car can do when pushed to its limits!” shared TMP President Masando Hashimoto.

Live performances, documentary premieres, networking sessions, and industry talks converge in TRIN’s most expansive edition yet.

The Rest Is Noise (TRIN), a music curation and events production outfit based in the Philippines, returns with the fourth edition of All Of The Noise 2026. The showcase and conference event will take place in three venues across Metro Manila: Astbury Makati (April 17 and 19), Sari-Sari in Makati City (April 17 and 19), and 123 Block in Mandaluyong City (April 18).

This year’s edition will feature dynamic, multi-format music programming centered on community building, cross-cultural collaboration, and visibility, positioning Filipino and Asian music as vital forces within the global creative economy.

“This year’s programming is more expansive than ever, growing from two days to three, with each day offering a different entry point into the experience and live music happening throughout,” shares Mary Christine Galang, co-founder and creative director of The Rest Is Noise PH. “We’re welcoming more than 20 artists this year, including Filipino artists from across the country as well as international acts from across Asia-Pacific.”

Originally conceived as a year-end, midsized music festival, the fourth iteration of All Of The Noise 2026 brings together live performances, talks and panel discussions, documentary screenings, a music market, networking, and private studio sessions into one shared experience.

“We want people to come in not only to discover artists, but to engage with the ideas, conversations, and communities that shape the music around them,” Galang adds. “That has always been at the core of what we do at TRIN.”

Live music programming

The live music showcase will run in multiple venues across three dates, with highly anticipated performances featuring New Zealand’s Phoebe Rings, Indonesia’s Grrrl Gang, Arash Buana, and Gavendri, Singapore’s Shye and Pines, and Taiwan’s Heng Jones.

 Music-themed Documentary Screenings

This year, All Of The Noise 2026 will feature local and international music documentaries that intersect music, movements, culture, and politics through its Echoes of the Noise program. This year’s film selection includes the international premiere of Alulu Kuo’s Elephant Gym: More Real Than Dreams, which captures the band’s journey as they faced a potential breakup before a world tour and explored their unique musical world. The Philippine screening will also include a talkback with Elephant Gym’s very own Tell Chang.

Other music documentaries that will be screened include Nolan Bernardino’s Rosas: The Song. The Journey, which became an anthem of hope during the national elections in 2022; and Frazier de Mesa’s This is Hannah+Gabi, which explores the beloved band’s thoughts and process in music-making and performing from the perspective of the filmmaker.

Culture and Community

“Beyond the performances, we’re especially proud of this year’s curation of documentary films, cultural discussions, and community-driven moments that create space for deeper exchange,” Galang explains. “AOTN 2026 is about presenting independent music as something immersive, thoughtful, and deeply connected to culture and community. It’s also about underscoring the Philippines as an important music market—both in the way we understand ourselves and in the way we connect to the rest of the world.

In a historic first for Philippine music documentaries, Abramorama purchases Eraserheads: Combo On The Run prior of the official SXSW 2026 event

The distribution giant’s first Philippine documentary will screen in multiple cinemas across US and Canada on April 24, 2026

Abramorama has obtained the North American theater rights to film Eraserheads: Combo On The Run, which is the distributor’s first Philippine documentary. This is a historic first.

After a successful international festival run, the documentary film becomes part of Abramorama’s lineup of high-profile music films, which also includes Radiohead’s Meeting People Is Easy (Grant Gee), The Beatles: Eight Days (Ron Howard), and The Sparks Brothers (Edgar Wright).

The acquisition will be marked by an official event at SXSW 2026 next month to celebrate its forthcoming theatrical release in Canada and the United States.

Directed and produced by Maria Diane Ventura, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run tells the story of the Philippines’ most influential band, tracing their meteoric rise from their formation in UP Diliman to becoming a defining voice of a generation, their painful breakup, and their eventual resurgence years later.

Set against the backdrop of the Philippines’ shifting socio-political landscape, the film situates the band’s journey within a country grappling with deep political polarization, reflecting how their music and story became intertwined with the nation’s cultural memory.

Blending intimate interviews, never-before-seen archival footage, and unfiltered behind the scenes access, the film explores fame, fracture, growth, legacy, and the enduring bond between the band and generations shaped by their music.

“I’m incredibly excited about this partnership with Abramorama,” said director and producer Maria Diane Ventura. “They are the perfect home for this film, not just because of their legacy in music documentaries, but because they understand stories that resonate on a deeper cultural level. While the film is rooted in the Eraserheads’ music, it ultimately speaks to division, reconciliation, and healing during a turbulent political moment. Those themes feel especially relevant today, not only for Filipinos, but for audiences everywhere.”

Ventura adds, “It’s also deeply important to me that this film helps reintroduce the band and their music to a new generation, and that it creates space for Filipino stories, nuance, and complexity to be seen with greater depth. Filipinos are part of so many communities around the world, and I hope this film allows people to see us more fully, while also reminding audiences more broadly how powerful it is to feel seen in culture. When people recognize themselves in a story, it creates empathy, connection, and a sense of shared humanity across communities. Ultimately, this film is about how stories and music can bring us closer to one another, even across divides and differences.”

The film has already achieved a number of significant firsts, such as being the first Filipino music documentary to be presented at San Diego Comic-Con and the first Filipino film to be given the broadest theater distribution in the Philippines by Warner Bros.

It has also received recognition on the international festival circuit, including Doc Berlin, the Liverpool Film Festival, and the 44th Annual Hawaii International Film Festival, where it screened as part of the official Spotlight on the Philippines program and won Best International Documentary at the Ierapetra International Feature Documentary Festival in Greece.
