For the final time this season, the roars of cheering fans and the roaring noises of race vehicles accompanied Toyota Motor Philippines’ (TMP) official announcement of the winners of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) Vios Cup.

The TGR Vios Cup Grand Prix was introduced by this season’s competitors, providing motorsports fans with an amazing season finale. The 2023 final leg took place at the Clark International Speedway.

Racers seized the opportunity to participate and raise the excitement of both themselves and the audience. Troy Montero and Enzo Pineda, two TGR veterans, are competing for the Circuit Championship, along with Ryan Agoncillo, a celebrity rookie this season. For the Autocross Challenge, popular favorites Macoy Dubs, Benedict Cua, Bianca Yao, and Lexi Mendiola joined beauty queens Carla Lizardo and Megan Young on the course.

Participating racers across the three classes — Promotional, Sporting, and Super Sporting — in the Circuit Championship raced their hearts out to give the crowd a good show. Paolo Ayo (Race 7) and Alain Alzona (Race 8) dominated the Promotional class, while in the Sporting class, Bern Corpino (Race 7) and Mikey Keilani Jordan (Race 8), were announced as winners. John Dizon also proved to be a great racer as he took the top spot in the Super Sporting class in both races 7 and 8. These champions have been proving their unparalleled racing prowess during the previous legs of the Vios Cup 2023. But during the finals, they emerged as more skilled racers, winning them their respective awards.

Racers for the Grand Prix for Circuit Championship, although new to this format, made electrifying moments in the race. Alain Alzona, Darrell Garbes and Royce Sarmiento who were hailed the victors in the Promotional, Sporting, and Super Sporting classes respectively, further proved that they were born to be in the speedway. The same energy that the fans loved from the previous legs were consistent with all the participants, taking racing battles up a notch with their heated fervor and professionalism when it comes to racing.

Seeing all of the OMR cars in one grid, contending for the top spot in the tracks, was a pleasure for lovers of motorsports and the Vios Cup. The spectators loved the pit stop action because it transported them from the tracks to the grandstand in a riveting, intense moment.

The audience supported the Autocross Challenge competitors, which included Apple David, Arianne Bautista, Migy Romulo, Reph Bangsil, Genesis Redido, and Ezra Domingo, as they battled for the top slots. Patricia Tenorio, Ezra Domingo, John Rey San Diego, and Carla Lizardo were victorious in the Promotional Media and Influencer Classes and Sporting Media and Influencer Classes, respectively, following the thrilling race.

Here is the full list of winners:

Toyota’s GR-S lineup comprising of Hilux GR-S, Fortuner GR-S and Rush GR-S were displayed at the TGR Vios Cup 2023 activity area for crowd viewing. The audience also enjoyed games and activities prepared by event sponsors, along with the awesome performance of the popular indie band Sunkissed Lola.

Did you miss all the action? Worry not as the entire event was livestreamed over the Toyota GAZOO Racing Philippines official Facebook page. Go watch and relive the performances of TGR Vios Cup Leg 3 and the Season’s winners and get inspired by how they raced their paths to victories.

The final leg of the Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup was organized with the support of sponsors Bridgestone and Petron. This event is also sponsored by Denso, AVT, 3M, ROTA, Tuason Racing, Kinto and myToyota wallet.

TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto, Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, and Pasay City Administrator Atty. Peter Manzano during the memorandum of agreement
signing ceremony held in Pasay City.

The City Governments of Pasay and Santa Rosa have partnered with Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation to offer the free on-demand shared transportation service known as the Toyota Community Shuttle (TCS), which will be provided through a digital interface.

TMP is supplying a fleet of five (5) brand-new, air-conditioned Toyota Lite Ace vehicles to each local government under separate agreements. The vehicles will travel flexible routes inside the boundaries of each city.

In photo (from left) are TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto and Santa Rosa City Mayor Arlene Arcillas during the memorandum of agreement signing ceremony held in Santa Rosa City.

Starting on December 1, 2023 in Santa Rosa City and December 2, 2023 in Pasay City, the TCS plans to offer free trips for a full year.

“TMP is offering the TCS as part of the Company’s corporate social responsibility and in commemoration of TMP’s 35th anniversary. Through TCS, TMP aims to contribute to improving the quality of life in these communities by providing free, easier, smarter and safer mobility,” TMP president Atsuhiro Okamoto said.

The “myToyota Shuttle PH” application, one of the premier mobility solutions offered by TMP’s mobility service division, Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines, Inc. (TMSPH), would be used to provide the booking service for TCS.

Route planning and seat reservation can be optimized with the use of the “myTOYOTA Shuttle PH,” which enables effective on-demand shuttle management. Commuters can conveniently book their trips using a personal device, track the TCS unit’s real-time location, and see when it will arrive by downloading a smartphone application.

“We want to create positive social value in our beneficiary communities through the provision of free mobility. But the TCS is not only helpful in creating a hassle-free ride experience for commuters. It also complements the current efforts of our project beneficiaries towards becoming a smart city and ‘sustainable eco-city’ through increased connectivity and mobility, among others,” Okamoto added.

A “Next Wave City,” Santa Rosa City is making significant strides toward becoming a “High-level Smart City.” The “Travel City,” Pasay City, is spearheading efforts to become a “Sustainable Eco City.” Both cities are embracing digitalization and innovation to raise the standard of living in all spheres, including transit. This is in line with TMP’s mission to give people safer, smarter, and easier mobility.

August 2023 marked TMP’s 35th anniversary of formation, and the company reiterated its commitment to societal and economic progress through its mobility-related services and automotive manufacturing and distribution operations.

With an emphasis on the “Connected, Autonomous/Automated, Shared, and Electrified,” or “CASE,” concepts of future mobility, Toyota anticipates a variety of creative and inventive solutions available globally.
