The Amenity Studio Opens at Conrad Manila, in Partnership with “Heures d’Orange” Afternoon Tea at C Lounge

A new destination for refined gifting and scent-led experiences arrives as The Amenity Studio officially opens its doors at Conrad Manila. Located on the ground floor, the store introduces a thoughtfully curated selection of premium hotel amenities and fragrances, bringing the essence of luxury hospitality into everyday rituals.

Marking its debut, The Amenity Studio partners with Conrad Manila for “Heures d’Orange”, an exclusive afternoon tea experience at C Lounge. Inspired by the Hermès Hôtelier Collection, the offering transforms signature scent notes into a refined culinary journey—where fragrance and flavor come together in a seamless, sensory pairing.

Guests are first invited into a fragrance discovery, where they may choose from five Hermès scent testers, each thoughtfully paired with a corresponding tea. Eau d’Orange Verte offers a fresh and uplifting profile, much like Earl Grey; Un Jardin sur la Lagune is vibrant and expressive, just like mango strawberry tea; Eau de Merveilles Bleue is delicate and light, reminiscent of jasmine tea; Eau de Merveilles, presented as a wearable pendant, reveals a warm sweetness alongside chamomile; while Terre d’Hermès brings an earthy depth, complemented by sencha green tea. Curiosity unfolds as guests explore each fragrance—an intimate sensory journey that heightens anticipation for what follows.

The experience continues with a thoughtfully composed menu of savory and sweet selections, each inspired by Hermès fragrances. Savory creations include Un Jardin en Méditerranée (duck prosciutto, fig-orange compote, brioche), Un Jardin sur le Toit (crab meat, green apple, avocado emulsion), Twilly d’Hermès Eau Ginger (tuna, ginger, savory crisps), and Eau de Citron Noir (cucumber, lemon labneh, black lime dust).

Sweet indulgences follow with Eau des Merveilles (orange and praline dark chocolate bonbons), Un Jardin sur le Toit (apple and pear rose choux), Un Jardin sur le Nil (mango rose macaron), and Eau de Pamplemousse Rose (grapefruit and thyme almond tartlets). Completing the experience are freshly baked scones, including classic buttermilk and Eau d’Orange Verte (orange peel buttermilk scones).

More than a retail space, The Amenity Studio is envisioned as a lifestyle concept—one that elevates the way people experience scent, gifting, and self-care. The store currently features the Hermès Hôtelier Collection, known for its distinct fragrances and timeless formulations, presented in travel-sized formats that embody both practicality and indulgence.

“At The Amenity Studio, we wanted to create a space where luxury is experienced, not just purchased,” shares Mitch Garcia-Arce, founder of The Amenity Studio. “From curated amenities to collaborations like ‘Heures d’Orange,’ our goal is to bring the sensibility of fine hotels into everyday living—making each moment feel considered and elevated.”

The collaboration with Conrad Manila reflects a shared vision of refined hospitality—where attention to detail, craftsmanship, and guest experience take center stage. With “Heures d’Orange” available exclusively at C Lounge, guests are invited to discover a new way of experiencing scent beyond the traditional, through taste, texture, and atmosphere.

Now open at the ground floor of Conrad Manila, The Amenity Studio welcomes guests and visitors to explore its collection and discover a new expression of modern luxury—one that is intimate, sensory, and thoughtfully curated.

Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines 2026 connect modernization efforts with sustainable practices to advance industry growth

Photo shows from left: MR. MICHAEL DE JOYA GARCIA, Assistant Secretary for Swine and Poultry of Department of Agriculture; MS. RUNGPHECH CHITANUWAT, Country General Manager of Informa Markets Philippines; and DR. BENJAMIN ALBARECE. Assistant Secretary for Ruminants of Department of Agriculture

Livestock Philippines, a premier international B2B trade show for the livestock and poultry sectors, will take place alongside Aquaculture Philippines from June 24–26, 2026 at the World Trade Center. The co-located events are expected to gather around 300 local and international exhibitors presenting cutting-edge solutions and technologies, along with approximately 11,000 visitors representing various segments of the livestock and aquaculture industries.

Hosted in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, this year’s theme—“Modern Farming Practices, Bountiful Harvests: The Future of Livestock and Aquaculture”—highlights the urgent need for modernization and the adoption of sustainable, efficient, and forward-looking farming and aquaculture practices. It underscores the importance of strengthening food security, boosting economic development, supporting resilient livelihoods, and protecting the environment. The theme also positions the events as key platforms for innovation, learning, and collaboration, helping drive progress across the livestock and aquaculture sectors.

This highlights how the livestock and aquaculture industries are continuously evolving, making it essential to keep up with modern practices. It shows that innovation and technology play a key role not only in improving productivity but also in promoting sustainability. It also emphasizes the importance of these industries in ensuring food security and supporting livelihoods, especially in a growing country. Overall, it reflects the value of collaboration between the government and private sectors in creating a more resilient and future-ready agricultural system.

The agricultural economy is one of the key drivers of the Philippines’ economic growth, with the livestock, poultry, and aquaculture sectors serving as major contributors. These industries are vital for rural livelihoods, the food supply chain, and overall economic development. Meat consumption continues to rise due to the growing population and increasing demand for meat products in the market. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the livestock and poultry sectors accounted for 33.4% of total agricultural production in 2025, while aquaculture has shown steady growth, contributing significantly to the industry. There are also promising opportunities to explore, such as the Philippines’ position as a major producer of seaweed and its potential for exporting seafood, poultry, and processed meat products.

However, despite these opportunities, the livestock and aquaculture industries face several pressing challenges that must be addressed to ensure sustainable growth. Climate change and environmental risks, such as rising temperatures, water pollution, and unpredictable weather conditions, are disrupting farming production. Animal health remains a critical issue, with biosecurity and disease management being central to combating outbreaks of diseases like African Swine Fever (ASF) and Avian Influenza (AI), which threaten livestock and poultry production. Additionally, the rising costs of essentials such as feed, feed ingredients, fuel, tools, and equipment are putting significant pressure on profit margins. These financial strains could lead to major hurdles in infrastructure development and market access in the long term, further complicating the industry’s path to sustainable growth.

This is where Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture take center stage as the events cater to providing actionable solutions to these industry challenges while helping discover new opportunities for business growth and innovation. By bringing together key industry players and leaders, technology providers, government agencies, farmers and fisherfolks, the events ignite strong collaboration and knowledge-sharing which are all essential for addressing these critical industry challenges.

This year, Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines co-locate with PhilEnergy, Informa Markets’ B2B event for the energy sector. This strategic move aims to address overlapping industries in agriculture and energy, such as the conversion of livestock waste into energy, biogas, biomass, and renewable energy solutions. The events highlight shared interests in sustainable farming practices, water management systems, aquaculture technologies, and energy-efficient equipment for agricultural operations. By integrating these sectors, the events provide added value to both exhibitors and visitors, creating opportunities to attract potential customers and forge partnerships across multiple industries.

During the events, expect to see technical seminars and conferences that drive discussions on a variety of topics such as innovations in disease prevention and biosecurity, farming and aquaculture practices, and technology role in improving both productivity and sustainability. Some of the industry partners like the Department of Agriculture take lead on crafting insightful conferences while some exhibitors are ready to position themselves as thought leaders in various technical seminars. The second day of the event features the much-anticipated Aquaculture Conference, where prominent speakers in the aquaculture industry will spark engaging conversations on the latest trends and innovative best practices.

In this edition, the organizer introduces Continuing Professional Development (CPD)-accredited seminars, hosted by the Philippine Society of Animal Nutritionists (PHILSAN) and the Philippine Association of Agriculturists, Inc. (PAA). These seminars will cover a wide range of topics, including sustainable farming practices, advanced nutrition strategies, and more. As Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines continue to uphold their commitment to building knowledge and expertise, accredited learning opportunities. Additionally, for the first time, the One Health Solutions for Sustainable Livestock Production Forum will be held, featuring international speakers who will discuss impactful solutions and health-oriented livestock systems. This forum further reinforces the dedication to driving innovation and sustainability in the livestock and aquaculture industries.

Before the main event, exhibitors, industry peers, and friends from various networks are invited to participate in the Livestock Philippines Golf Fellowship Game on June 23, 2026, at Hallow Ridge Filipinas Golf Inc. This pre-event activity aims to foster stronger connections and camaraderie through a friendly golf competition in anticipation of the main event. Another must-attend activity is the Livestock Philippines Recognition, which will take place on the evening of June 24, 2026. During this event, nominated and carefully screened groups, associations, cooperatives, or individuals who have made significant contributions to the livestock and aquaculture industries will be honored, with support from the Department of Agriculture.

Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines remain steadfast in their commitment to serving as a transformative platform that empowers the livestock, poultry, aquaculture, and related sectors to embrace innovation, sustainability, and foster stronger partnerships and collaborations. In line with this, Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines will host their first-ever regional event in Cebu from November 11–19, 2026, at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, covering the Visayas region and nearby provinces. This milestone is a significant step in driving industry forward and ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for stakeholders across the country.

Admission is free, and industry trade buyers are encouraged to attend in June by registering through this link: https://ers-ph.informa-info.com/lsp26.

Stronger Futures Start Here as Job Opportunities Open Nationwide This Labor Day

This Labor Day, SM continued empowering community opportunities as multiple Job Fairs were mounted across 15 venues nationwide. This brought together 650 employers and 17,400 jobseekers, with more than 1,000 Filipinos hired on the spot—a powerful reflection of how accessible, community-based platforms can deliver real employment outcomes.

But beyond the numbers are real stories—of courage, determination, and new beginnings.

Across multiple SM malls, thousands of Filipinos walked in carrying resumes—and walked out with something more: real opportunities, renewed confidence, and for many, a fresh start. The SM Job Fair once again served as a platform for employment, connecting jobseekers, employers, and government partners in one convenient, community-centered space at their most-loved SM Supermalls.

For jobseekers like France Barcial and Mark Andrei Jimenez the experience was life-changing.

“Hindi ko po expected na ngayon din ako matatanggap, bakasakali lang po” he shared, holding back tears. “Meron na po akong pang-suporta sa college ko sa PUP.”

“Malaking tulong po ito sa pamilya namin. kung sa iba po, baka nag-antay pako kung kailan ako tatawagan. dito po hired agad.”

Moments like these echoed throughout the day, as hiring booths became spaces of possibility—where interviews led to immediate job offers, and uncertainty turned into hope.

SM Job Fairs continue to stand out for their accessibility and efficiency. From application to interview—and even the processing of government requirements—everything is made available in one place, allowing jobseekers to focus on what matters most: securing their future.

Miss Rea Amata, a representative from the Labor Relations and Public Employment Service Office of Marikina emphasized the impact of such initiatives:

“Malaking bagay ito para sa mga Pilipino, sa mga constituents namin sa Marikina. Bringing opportunities closer to communities is key—and SM provides that platform. Isipin mo, hindi ka na dadayo at gagastos para maghanap ng trabaho.”

Employers also highlighted the value of direct, face-to-face engagement, as attested by Noelle Tupas of Work Makers Manpower Corporation.

“We’re able to meet qualified candidates faster and more efficiently, second time we joined this job fair and some of our previous hires have stayed in our company, the others found other opportunities. Here, you can see the potential immediately, and that makes hiring more meaningful.”

Beyond employment, SM continues to strengthen its role in workforce development by introducing upskilling opportunities—including digital and AI learning sessions in partnership with institutions such as the Department Information and Communications Technology. These initiatives aim to help jobseekers stay competitive in an evolving job market, reinforcing the shift from job access to job readiness.

“We have certificate trainings and seminars na nagdadagdag ng value at knowledge sa ating mga applicants. In fact, we have ready data and information ng mga trainees natin previously na na-hire or lumawak ang freelancing expertise dahil sa programs natin,” said Erika Zamora, trainer from DICT.

Many jobseekers felt the significance of the initiative.

Alberto Eder shared, “Hindi lang po ito para sa IT professionals, AI age na po talaga tayo. Lahat po ng gusto magtrabaho, makikinabang po dito sa upskilling.”

Through strong collaboration with government agencies, employers, and institutional partners, SM Job Fairs continue to demonstrate how public-private partnerships can drive meaningful, real-world impact.

As the day came to a close, what remained were not just filled job positions—but stories of resilience, determination, and new beginnings.

Because at SM Supermalls, it’s not just about bringing people together—it’s about helping them move forward.

The Real Story Is on the Back: Simplifying Milk Labels for the Modern Pinoy Mom

When picking milk for your child, what usually influences your choice? Is it a trusted brand, an attractive design, or the claims shown on the front label? It’s easy to be drawn to eye-catching packaging, but making a truly informed decision starts with checking the information on the back.

Under Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, milk products are required to clearly declare their ingredient list in descending order by weight, nutritional composition, and raw material sources, making it the most reliable basis for evaluating quality.

Yet, a study by Acta Medica Philippina reveals that nearly half of Filipino adults don’t read food labels, and only a small fraction checks the Nutrition Facts. This lack of “label interest” often leaves families vulnerable to promotional jargon rather than actual nutritional value. Simply put, the front promotes, but the back proves.

From “Gut Feel” to Informed Choice

Milk selection is often guided by instinct or vague recommendations. However, shifting from “gut feel” to informed decision-making starts with knowing where to look.

Two key sections on the label can quickly provide valuable insight:

  1. Ingredient List Ingredients are listed from highest to lowest quantity, making the first ingredient the most significant. In the case of milk, parents should choose products that list “Fresh Milk” as its first ingredient, signifying that it makes up the largest portion of the product.
  2. Nutrition Facts Table– This outlines the levels of essential nutrients such as protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals, providing a more objective basis for comparison beyond general claims like “nutritious” or “fortified.”

By focusing on these areas, parents can move beyond the brand message fluff and better understand what they are giving their children.

Decoding Nutrition and Avoiding Red Flags

For many Pinoy moms, the scientific jargons on the back of the tin can be intimidating. But understanding these terms will be key to providing better nutrition for your child. Look for these nutrients that can support your child’s overall health:

  • Lactoferrin:A naturally-occurring iron-binding protein naturally found in milk that helps support a strong immune system.
  • GOS & FOS (Prebiotics):These are not “chemicals”; they are dietary fibers that feed the good bacteria in the gut, supporting a healthy digestive system and stronger immunity, since 70% of immune cells reside in the gut.
  • DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) & ARA (Arachidonic Acid):These are fatty acids essential for cognitive development and sharp vision.

While identifying the “good” is vital, spotting the “bad” is equally important. Be wary of these three “hidden” sugars:

  • Sucrose:Plain table sugar. It provides empty calories and can lead to tooth decay and a preference for overly sweet foods.
  • Maltodextrin:A highly processed carbohydrate used as a thickener. It has a high glycemic index, meaning it causes rapid spikes in blood sugar.
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS):A sweetener linked to various health concerns, including childhood obesity.

A Smarter Way Forward

In a market flooded with options, the back label is your most honest advisor. As the Acta Medica Philippina research suggests, we need an intensified focus on label education to bridge the gap between “buying” and “nourishing.”

As consumers, a simple first step is to look past the front of the package and make it a habit to check the back label first.

Because ultimately, choosing milk powder isn’t about what catches your eye on the shelf—it’s about what’s inside.

SM Active Hub marks First Anniversary with Nationwide Day of Movement

Communities come together across 24 malls for runs, pickleball, and free play on April 11

Play goes full throttle at SM City Clark as families dive into the energy of SM Active Hub with movement, fun, and connection in one space.

SM Supermalls marked the first anniversary of SM Active Hub with a nationwide activation across its malls, transforming them into the largest playground in the country and the biggest shared space for movement in one synchronized day.

Launched a year ago, SM Active Hub set out to change how people experience malls. Not just as places to shop, but as spaces to move, connect, and live fully. This vision scaled across the entire network.

Kids take the lead at the Push Bike Competition at SM City Bicutan during the nationwide celebration of the SM Active Hub anniversary.

On April 11, SM Active Hub brought “One Day, Every Mall, One Movement” to life. From sunrise to sunset, malls nationwide hosted runs, rallies, and free-play sessions, turning SM into the largest playground in the country for one synchronized day. Main celebrations took place at SM Mall of Asia and SM North EDSA, anchoring a coordinated, high-energy experience across the country.

Energy spikes at SM City La Union as players bring the heat to beach volleyball, powering the momentum of SM Active Hub.

SM maximizes every space to build the largest playground in the country, where movement is shared and accessible. Across its malls, Filipinos engage in running, pickleball, ice hockey, figure skating, basketball, volleyball, biking, and football, drawing both seasoned athletes and first-time participants.

Momentum builds at SM Mall of Asia as runners take over the bay during the SM Active Hub anniversary weekend, turning every stride into a celebration of movement.

Running remains a core pillar. In 2026, SM activates 24 malls with dedicated running paths, supported by 45 running clubs and 55 running events. What used to be solo is now social. Partnerships continue to scale the platform, with Runrio leading the Philippine Marathon Majors, including the Manila leg and the 42-kilometer EDSA Marathon on Independence Day.

Pickleball and fitness racing expanded the ecosystem. SM Active Hub featured 12 permanent and 13 semi-permanent pickleball courts, accelerating one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. SM North EDSA hosted the Toby’s Pickleball Superseries, while SM Mall of Asia staged fitness racing events for both competitive and casual participants, with both activations happening on April 11 as part of the anniversary.

Future football stars take the spotlight at SM City Laoag as kids bring energy and skill to the game.

The platform now operates at national scale, connecting thousands of participants, partner brands, and sports communities. This drove repeat participation, longer dwell time, and deeper engagement across malls.

Intensity peaks at SM Mall of Asia as athletes push limits in fitness racing, driving the competitive spirit of SM Active Hub.

The anniversary highlighted “Free Play, Full Fun,” opening activities to families, barkadas, and walk-in mallgoers with no barriers to entry. During Free Play Weekend on April 11 to 12, malls nationwide hosted pickleball, running, bowling, table tennis, Zumba, karatedo, chess, dance fitness, karate, biking, football, basketball, volleyball and taekwondo, turning everyday mall visits into active, shared experiences.

SM Active Hub sustains the momentum beyond the anniversary, with sports activations continuing throughout the summer across all SM Supermalls. A full calendar of runs, pickleball sessions, fitness classes, community tournaments, the Groove Dance Showdown, and Summer Sports Clinic keeps the platform active and accessible, driving repeat visits and sustained engagement while positioning SM as the go-to destination for movement and play during the season.

Game on at SM City Lipa as NU Lipa basketball players lead the action with speed, precision, and control on the court.

SM Supermalls continues to evolve the modern third space, integrating retail, wellness, and social connection into one ecosystem. For Gen Z and Gen Alpha, participation is social, shareable, and community-driven.

A pickleball tournament brought the heat to the courts at SM North EDSA, rallying players and spectators for a full day of fast-paced action.

“This is movement at scale,” said Joaquin San Agustin, Executive Vice President for Marketing, SM Supermalls. “We design spaces where communities gather, stay active, and experience life to the max.”

Free Play Weekend ran alongside the anniversary activities.

Precision and discipline take center stage as young athletes showcase taekwondo at SM City Masinag.

As part of its Here to Move campaign, SM Active Hub welcomed Canadian National Champion and PPA Tour athlete Mackonner Dy for a multi-mall tour from April 9 to 12, reinforcing its push to grow pickleball in the Philippines and expand access to international-level play.

All smiles as Canadian National Champion and PPA Tour athlete Mackonner Dy joins Pickleball for Kids at the pickleball court of SM City Sta. Mesa during the SM Active Hub Anniversary.

SM Active Hub extended beyond the mall through the SM Malls Online app, its official digital companion. Users accessed event schedules, registered for activities, unlocked rewards, and stayed updated on runs, pickleball sessions, and fitness events across all SM malls. It centralized the experience, turning every visit into a connected, on-demand journey.

The partnership is implemented in close coordination with Mayor Olivares; the Parañaque City Health Office; Dr. Darius J. Sebastian, Officer‑in‑Charge City Health Officer; Dr. Ruben Ver Bombeta, Partnership Focal; and City Councilor Maria Kristine G. Esplana, sponsor of the enabling resolution. This collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to co‑creating sustainable, system‑level solutions for improved health outcomes.

The need for stronger referral coordination

With the devolution of health services to local government units under the Local Government Code and the UHC Act, cities like Parañaque now play a critical role in ensuring that care is accessible, coordinated, and continuous. Administrative Order 2020-0019 further outlines the importance of building a mature Healthcare Provider Network where facilities are linked, services are coordinated, and patients are guided smoothly across levels of care.

However, gaps in referral coordination can lead to delays in diagnosis and treatment. CORE addresses this challenge by providing a digital platform that links health facilities within the Parañaque HCPN, allowing referrals to be tracked, managed, and acted on more efficiently.

By strengthening how facilities connect with one another, the system helps patients reach the appropriate level of care faster and supports the city’s progress toward a more integrated UHC implementation. It also supports ongoing efforts to improve care coordination across the city.

“A fully functional Health Care Provider Network (HCPN) relies on strong communication between facilities,” said Dr. Darius J. Sebastian, OIC–City Health Officer. “Through our partnership with Novartis, we are operationalizing this mandate by deploying a web-based referral system. This technology ensures seamless continuity of care as patients navigate from primary care providers to higher-level facilities.

Parañaque City is the first LGU to partner with Novartis on the CORE initiative. To support implementation, CORE training was conducted on December 2, equipping local health workers with the skills needed to use the system in their daily operations.

The rollout is supported by Thinking Machines, the technology partner for the initiative. Beyond the platform itself, the partnership places strong emphasis on capacity-building. This upskilling ensures that health workers are fully supported in adopting digital solutions that can improve service delivery over time.

Moving UHC forward at the local level

The initiative aligns with the Novartis access principles, which recognize that a medicine’s impact depends not only on availability but also on the strength of the systems responsible for delivering care. Guided by the Novartis Health System Strengthening (HSS) Framework, the partnership focuses on addressing delayed referrals—one of the most common barriers to timely and appropriate care for patients with high‑burden diseases.

“Improving access requires more than providing innovative medicines—it also means helping strengthen the systems that enable patients to receive timely care,” said Sushant Anand, Value and Access Head at Novartis. “Through CORE, we are working with Parañaque City to address real‑world gaps in referral pathways. This collaboration demonstrates how co‑creation can support health workers and ultimately help patients get the care they need, when they need it.”

Designed for scalability and long‑term sustainability, CORE positions the partnership as a model for UHC‑aligned public‑private collaboration—one built on co‑creation, capacity‑building, and system‑level impact.

Novartis and the Parañaque City Government reaffirm their joint commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare and enhancing local health systems. Through initiatives such as CORE, the partnership moves forward with concrete actions to ensure that Universal Health Care Act Philippines is effectively implemented at all levels.
