Shinagawa and Fujifilm Philippines collaborate to improve patient care through technology

An agreement will be made official by Fujifilm Philippines and Shinagawa Healthcare Solutions Corporation to offer cutting-edge technology to patients. Fujifilm Philippines is a major supplier of digital imaging and healthcare solutions.

According to Masahiro Uehara, president of Fujifilm Philippines, with this collaboration, the two businesses hope to leverage their own strengths to offer patients cutting-edge, high-quality healthcare solutions.

“We are thrilled to partner with Shinagawa Healthcare Solutions Corporation to provide better healthcare services to patients in the Philippines. Our advanced technology and expertise in the healthcare industry, combined with Shinagawa’s commitment to providing personalized care, will enable us to deliver innovative and high-quality healthcare solutions to patients in the Philippines,” he said.

Shinagawa Healthcare Solutions Corporation, a subsidiary of the country’s top Lasik provider, Shinagawa Lasik & Aesthetics Center Corporation, is set to open a diagnostic and preventive care center in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, next month. It will be the first Japanese standard health facility in the Philippines that focuses on preventive care.

Through the collaboration, Uehara said Fujifilm will bring its innovative equipment to Shinagawa Diagnostic and Preventive Care Center to offer quick and comfortable procedures to patients.

These include the Eluxeo Lite 6000, an endoscopy machine that features Multi-Light Technology to deliver high-quality imaging and superior visibility for enhanced patient comfort through flexible scope options.

Another key instrument is the Supria 128 Slice CT Scan Machine, which offers painless and low-dose scanning capabilities. It also produces high-speed and top-notch quality images with lower power consumption.

The Amulet Innovality is a mammogram machine designed with ergonomic armrests to ensure patient comfort and secure positioning, producing quick image intervals of just 15 seconds.

Fujifilm’s FDR Smart X x-ray machine offers advanced functionality and compatibility with any X-ray system, delivering high image quality for precise and accurate results.

Meanwhile, the Arietta Series is an ultrasound machine renowned for its broad diagnostic capabilities and top-notch imaging quality, producing reliable results that help with immediate critical surgical decisions.

“Fujifilm Philippines’ commitment to quality and innovation aligns with their vision to provide exceptional healthcare services. We are thrilled to partner with them to bring their state-of-the-art imaging technology to our patients in the Philippines. Together, we can make a significant impact on the healthcare industry, revolutionizing the way healthcare is delivered and experienced,” he said.

Prevention is key

Masako Uemori, Shinagawa President, said the partnership will enable them to provide patients with the best possible care.

“We believe that investing in preventive care is not only a wise decision but also a responsible one. By breaking the social stigma of reactive care and shifting our mindset towards proactive prevention, we can help Filipinos achieve better health outcomes and ultimately lead more fulfilling lives,” she said.

Aside from Japanese standard health checkups, Shinagawa Diagnostic and Preventive Care Center will offer brain exams (MRI/MRA), full body exams (CT scan), digestive exams (ultrasound/endoscopy), health exams for women (mammography/ultrasound), laboratory, and allergy tests.

Uemori said Shinagawa will partner with health maintenance organizations (HMOs) in the country to provide accessible, affordable, and comprehensive medical services to Filipinos.

She also said they plan to promote health and wellness through events and seminars to raise public awareness about their overall well-being.

“Our success in the field of eye care has enabled us to build a reputation as a leader in the industry. Our commitment to the latest technologies and Japanese standards for medical services has helped us to earn the trust of our patients, and we are proud to continue to deliver exceptional care that exceeds their expectations,” Uemori added.

The future of healthcare

Uemori said Shinagawa’s new Diagnostic & Preventive Care Center is committed to providing comprehensive and personalized healthcare plans that contribute to the early detection and prevention of disease.

She said the company’s comprehensive medical examination process is designed to identify potential health issues before they become major problems, allowing for proactive intervention and treatment.

Combined with Fujifilm’s cutting-edge and high-performance machines, Shinagawa’s state-of-the-art facility will enable doctors and health professionals to perform procedures quickly, comfortably, and stress-free for patients. Diagnosis and analysis will also have double reading by their partner Japanese doctors who have extensive experience in the field of preventive care.

Shinagawa will also implement an efficient and streamlined operation using the Japanese Health Checkup Information System. With same-day results, patients can receive timely and accurate diagnoses and treatment plans without the added stress of waiting.

Innovative imaging technology

Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. (now FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation) was established in 1934 to produce high-quality photographic films. Within the first decade of its establishment, the company expanded its production to include motion pictures and X-ray films, in addition to its original focus on photographic films.

As a sales subsidiary of Fujifilm’s regional headquarters in the Asia Pacific, Fujifilm Philippines was established in 2012. The company’s main goal is to supply the Philippine market with high-quality goods and services in industries like electronics, picture imaging, industrial products, graphic design, and medical systems. In 2019, the business established its first branch in Cebu to satisfy the rising demand for its products and guarantee a constant level of quality. Also, by giving additional regional support to consumers in the provinces of the Visayas and adjacent Mindanao, Fujifilm Philippines was able to better serve them.

Fujifilm Philippines installed the FDR Go PLUS, a digital mobile X-ray machine that aided in diagnosing COVID-19 patients, to support neighborhood hospitals during the pandemic’s peak in 2020. The FDR nano and the FUJIFILM COVID-19 Ag Test Kit, which are anticipated to aid medical professionals in diagnosing and screening for COVID-19, were both approved by the FDA for the company. In order to serve the front lines of medicine and advance human health, the company is dedicated to providing a range of goods and services.

Earth Hour 2023 will be supported by SM Supermalls and SM Cares

As the company reaffirms its dedication to environmental stewardship, SM Supermalls and its corporate social responsibility arm SM Cares will join the rest of the world in honoring Earth Hour on March 25.

The theme of this year’s Earth Hour is “creating the Biggest Hour for Earth,” and individuals who wish to take part in the worldwide event are urged to do more than simply turn off their lights for one hour.

Ever since the inaugural Earth Hour event took place in the Philippines in 2008, SM Supermalls has backed the WWF and the organization. Customers, renters, and staff at SM malls across the country are once again urged to “Give an Hour for Earth” as SM Supermalls participates in the annual World Lights Turn Down on March 25 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

This day also marks the start of the World Wildlife Fund’s Virtual Earth Hour Run, a self-paced run supported by SM Cares, to be held from March 25 to April 30, 2023. The run aligns with SM Supermalls’ bid to make “Earth Hour, Any Hour” as participants are encouraged to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle by running and win prizes along the way. Joiners may register here and tag SM Cares and WWF as they post their stopovers at SM malls with hashtag #BiggestHourForEarth and #EarthHourVirtualRun.

Aside from these, SM Supermalls has been pushing to minimize its carbon footprint in support of the global green movement through various programs ranging from responsible energy consumption to investing in renewable energy.

For instance, more than 50 percent of the energy consumed by SM malls all over the country now come from renewable sources. In terms of solar energy usage, SM now has 12 malls equipped with energized solar panels, with SM Mall of Asia as the latest mall to receive a solar panel installation, which has a capacity of 2.003 MWp.

SM has also been recognized for exceeding compliance with RA7920 or the New Electrical Engineering Law, which regulates the practice, licensing, and registration of electrical engineers and electricians. This is proof that SM is operated and maintained only by highly qualified engineers.

SM Cares’ sustainability initiatives include the Trash-To-Cash Market and the Plastic Waste Collection program, which encourage responsible solid waste disposal among Filipinos; the annual Green Film Festival which promotes environmental awareness among students and the youth; and the International Coastal Cleanup which encourages stakeholders to do their part in keeping our seas and oceans clean.

The corporate social responsibility division of SM Supermalls, the largest mall chain in the nation and one of Southeast Asia’s top real estate developers, SM Prime Holdings, is called SM Cares. In addition to its activities on the environment, it is in charge of initiatives that support sustainability and the growth of the community, such as the Bike-Friendly SM initiative and programs for women and nursing mothers, people with disabilities, senior citizens, children, and youth.

With the aim of giving more Filipinos access to credit and achieving 10 million clients by 2023, Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), the nation’s top consumer financing provider, launches its 10th anniversary celebration.

Home Credit continues to gradually expand its operations and provide consumers a full ecosystem of products and service options tailored to their unique requirements and lifestyles as the company marks ten years of service in the nation this October. As we attended the press conference, we really saw how Home Credit gives value to its customers and how genuine they are in ensuring the needs of their clients. As they’re now in their decade of serving and empowering their people, they widen their range and really give what their customers really need on a daily basis. As a consumer finance provider, they guarantee everyone that they are on their side every step of the way.

Home Credit had 9.3 million customers at the year’s end of 2022, which was a good performance. The extension of its services to many lifestyle segments and categories was a major factor in making it possible for Filipinos to live more fulfilling lives.

“Our goal of a financially empowered Philippines comes true every year, one customer at a time. In our 10 years of service in the country, we aim to empower 10 million customers by the end of 2023 and continue to serve more Filipinos in the years to come. More than delivering innovative and accessible financial services, we celebrate the relationships we have built with our stakeholders and customers over the past decade, and this we choose to continue above and beyond,” shares Home Credit Philippines’ Chief Executive Officer, David Minol.

Anything, anytime, anywhere

As a leading consumer finance provider, pioneering buy now, pay later (BNPL) services in the country, Home Credit has grown its local roots in the past decade and developed a much deeper understanding of the local market. The company has seen the need to expand its lifestyle offerings and finance solutions to better support the ever-evolving needs and demand of Filipinos in this new generation.

Over the years, Home Credit has expanded to a robust 15,000 partner stores across 75 provinces in the country and has aggressively grown its online presence through the My Home Credit App. The company has also forged partnerships with the country’s biggest brands and retailers, building a wide selection of 300+ lifestyle commodities ranging from gadgets and smartphones, appliances and furniture, to bicycles and motorcycle accessories, sports equipment, and many more.

From once to always

Since entering the country in 2013, Home Credit has empowered millions of Filipinos to access more financial solutions through its expanded range of product options.

Aside from product loans, the company also offers existing customers with good payment histories the opportunity to avail themselves of Cash Loan, which helps them to be more financially capable. To date, Home Credit has disbursed over 1.8 million Cash Loans to its customers, in which 90% of the contracts were signed digitally and 20% of the applications were processed through the My Home Credit App.

Home Credit boasts of having the fastest cash loan approval and disbursement in 1 minute – the best in the market. Customers can enjoy the flexibility of the Cash Loan offers ranging from Php 3,000 to Php 150,000 and repayment terms from six to 48 months.

Nurturing relationships, building protection

Home Credit believes that availing of its financing products is not the end of the customers’ journey but only the start of it. The company wants to further build meaningful relationships with its customers and be their ally in advocating proactive measures to keep themselves and their families safe and protected.

With this, Home Credit also offers solutions to give the best protection to its customers. They have the option to purchase a range of protection packages: Device Protection which can be upgraded with an extended warranty for accidental damage protection; Extra Care for flexibility in managing payments; Home Content to protect and cover home belongings from any unfortunate incidents; and an innovative Personal Payment Protection that offers unlimited telemedicine service, death and accident coverage, and medical reimbursement.

Serving customers, valuing communities

The Handwriting of 6 Individuals Is Truly Swoon-Worthy

The experience of learning to write in script is one of everyone’s most formative recollections. Even today, when technology has moved us away from the straightforward process of writing with a pen and paper, everyone can relate to the thrill of glancing at your impeccable, handwritten notes.

The sight of other people’s well-organized writing can still make you gasp, even if you can’t write that well yourself. These are some examples of writers whose style may encourage you to pick up a pen and start writing like the scribe of your dreams.

On Instagram (@leighpod) you can find evidence of her handwriting prowess, where she posts photos of handwritten notes, and gamely answers questions about all things pens and writing.

At the Manila Pen Show, she will give a workshop on 2:00 PM, March 18, titled “Mad Scientist,” and will moderate March 19’s 3:45 PM panel featuring fountain pen collectors.

Gold Awards for Sustainable Real Estate Projects are won by Filinvest Alabang Inc.

At the most recent Property and Real Estate Excellence Awards, which were hosted by the Philippine chapter of the International Real Estate Federation, a Paris-based organization, two projects from Filinvest Alabang Inc (FAI) received gold recognitions (FIABCI). While Filigree’s ultra-luxury condominium, Botanika Nature Residences, won Gold under the Residential Mid-Rise category, Filinvest City, FAI’s flagship township in Alabang, won Gold under the Sustainable Development category.

The awards recognize FAI’s dedication in creating resilient, future-ready, and people-focused communities that can be enjoyed by many generations.  “As we mark our 30th anniversary this year, we continue to be committed to our mission of building communities that are sustainable and people-centric,” shares Catherine Ilagan, FAI President and COO. “Our ultimate goal is to make all of our developments really experiential and engaging, supporting healthier and more fulfilled lifestyles, with Filinvest City and Botanika serving as our flagship projects,” she adds.

The FIABCI gold award further reaffirms Filinvest City’s dedication to sustainability by attesting to its efforts in creating a green central business area in Alabang, Muntinlupa. Other green recognitions include its 3-star Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) Districts Certification by the Philippine Green Building Council, making Filinvest City the first and only Philippine CBD to receive this certification, and its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design LEEDv4 Gold for Neighborhood Development (LEEDv4 ND) certification by the US Green Building Council in 2020. “We have taken the big leap years ago when Filinvest Development Corporation Founder Mr. Andrew L. Gotianun, Sr. envisioned a sustainable and future-ready CBD and established FAI to transform the Alabang stockfarm to what Filinvest City is today. All these awards and certifications prove that we have been doing this right from the start, and that there are alternatives to the accustomed way of building cities in the metro”, Don Ubaldo, FAI First Vice President for townships, says.

The way that Botanika Nature Residences combines aesthetics and functionality while embedding energy efficiency into its design sets it different from other upscale residential buildings. A flagship project of Filigree, FAI’s brand of high-end residential developments, Botanika’s promise to authentic green living is seen beyond its interior as it harmoniously co-exists with its environs. Approximately 70% of its total land area is dedicated to garden and open breathing spaces, while the building itself, covering 30% of the land, was designed to respect and complement its natural surroundings being located at the most exclusive portion of Filinvest City. On top of the FIABCI gold award, Botanika is also a 4-star BERDE certified development, and just last year, was recognized as the first H+W (Health and Well-being – Pilot Version) 3-stars Certified residential building by the Philippine Green Building Council.  “As the post-pandemic world takes shape, there is a growing need for space that keeps people close to the center of activities while also allowing them to retreat to a sanctuary of greenery and clean air at any time to safeguard and promote their health and well-being. Botanika Nature Residences guarantee a stress-free, healthier suburban lifestyle,” says Filigree deputy head and FAI First Vice President Daphne Sanchez.

The company’s efforts to promote an innovative and progressive culture have also been recognized through the honors bestowed upon Filinvest Land Inc. and Filinvest Development Corporation’s president and CEO. Josephine Gotianun-Yap, the CEO. She was named FIABCI’s inaugural Property Woman of the Year and was the first woman to get the Real Estate Personality of the Year award in the Philippines Property Awards by PropertyGuru last year.

Publishers, student academic organizations, and intellectual property law enforcement sign a statement of cooperation against content piracy

A recent press conference organized by Rex Education brought together important groups dedicated to spreading awareness of piracy and preventing the unlawful copying and distribution of protected information.

Present at the event were leaders and representatives from the Philippine Association of Law Schools, the Association of Law Students of the Philippines, , the Legal Education Board, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, the National Book Development Board, the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations of the Philippines, the National Bureau of Investigation, Association of Administrators in Hospitality Hotel and Restaurant Management Educational Institution, the Philippine Librarians Association, the Philippine Council of Deans and Educators in Business, the Philippine Association of Collegiate Schools of Business, Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators, Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines, Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities and the Philippine Educational Measurement and Evaluation Association.

The illegal reproduction and dissemination of copyrighted works, such as but not limited to music, movies, and other media, is known as piracy. The Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, Republic Act 8293, which safeguards and defends the exclusive rights of scientists, inventors, artists, and other talented persons to their intellectual property and works, strengthens anti-piracy laws in the Philippines.

The press conference is a part of REX’s anti-piracy campaign, which was launched last September 16, 2022 at the Manila International Book Fair. The primary objective of the campaign is to curb, if not eradicate, content piracy by educating, communicating, and instilling among our colleagues, families, and children a true appreciation of the value of one’s own work. REX’s efforts in this direction are also in recognition and support of the relentless hard work of intellectual property law enforcement agencies in the country.

“We should continue to educate, communicate, and instill among our colleagues, families, and children a true appreciation of the value of one’s own work. In this sense, we are all duty-bearers. But above that, we are Filipinos,” said Atty. Dominador Buhain, chairman of Rex Education. “ Aside from our laws, what also binds us are our values, our sense of pakikipagkapwa, of pagpapakatao, our pride in our own work, and our respect for each other and of each other’s work.”

The initiative has captured the interest of other organizations with like-minded ideologies during the past year. Consumers, students, and stakeholders from the education sector have all gathered to show their support for the campaign. Above all, there is a call to safeguard all of the creators’ intellectual property.

“Throughout our rich history, we recognize and respect one truth about what we do: We are able to accomplish so much because of our people. REX has immense pride for the talented and hardworking individuals who pour their creativity, knowledge, and skills in the development of our learning materials, and these are not limited to books,” said Atty. Dominador Buhain, chairman of Rex Education.

Please feel free to see the watch the “Proud Ako” anti-piracy campaign video, which was introduced at MIBF 2022, for additional details about REX’s efforts. To assist Rex Education in its efforts to safeguard the publishing business, go to www.rex.com.ph.

BPI, a fervent supporter of Philippine arts, helps visual artists through collaborations and art lovers by granting them more access to artworks at art events like the upcoming third edition of Art Fair Philippines.

“As we appreciate the value of artists and their works, we also see the significance of collecting and keeping great artworks, which is why we at BPI continue to provide our support as well to art lovers who, time and time again, visit Art Fair Philippines and acquire valuable artworks,” said Jenelyn Z. To promote art appreciation and further boost the local art scene, BPI offers complimentary access to cardholders of BPI Visa Signature, Platinum Rewards Mastercard, Amore Platinum Cashback, and Gold Mastercard.

“At BPI, we consider keepers of valuable art works as art investors, as the works they acquire become part of their investment portfolio,” Lacerna said.

BPI has been the caretaker of more than 1,000 artworks by many prominent Filipino artists, such as Fernando Amorsolo, Jose Joya, and Ben Cabrera. Most of these art pieces are the country’s finest expressions of Philippine culture and are reflective of BPI’s inherent values.

“The kind of support BPI gives to art lovers provides them greater access to exclusive events such as Art Fair Philippines, which continues to showcase the country’s vibrant local art scene and helps Filipino visual artists generate support and reach a wider audience,” Lacerna added.

BPI affirms its commitment to recognize and nurture the country’s artistry and talent through its participation in events like this.

One of the many galleries featured in the art fair is Art Cube, which provides a platform for talented young artists to showcase their works before an extensive roster of art collections. The gallery, which will be located on the 5th Level, Booth No. 5, will feature the works of father-and-son Renato and Guerrero Habulan, showing a glimpse of ordinary people: iconic images of the masses, their dignity amid hardship, and as an inspiration. Renato, a post-war and contemporary painter, is one of the most influential and award-winning watercolor artists in the country. Guererro, a recipient of the Thirteen Artists Awards of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, combines different figurative styles and approaches—from hyperrealism to pop surrealism to the “ready-made” images of silk screen printing.

Also featured in this year’s edition of the art fair includes Celine Lee, who has been recognized for her work, including the Juror’s Choice Award of Merit at the Philippine Art Awards in 2020. She has a diverse portfolio that includes paintings, sculptures, embroidery pieces, and multimedia works that show her innovative use of different materials and media.

A finalist in several competitions in 2018, including the LRT Art Competition, Shell National Student Art Competition, Metrobank Art and Design Excellence Competition, and Regional Winner for Philippine Art Awards, Winna Go’s paintings are also worth checking out for art enthusiasts. She draws inspiration for the majority of her paintings from the history of the Chinese diaspora, the depth of Chinese and Filipino culture, her own identity and place in society, and the splendor of nature.

“We invite the art enthusiasts out there to come and join us at the Art Fair Philippines and discover the country’s artistry and talent. Check out the many participating galleries that showcase Filipino artistry at its best,” Lacerna added.
