Racers at the Gwapa Dabawenya event burst from the starting line at the sound of the gun on August 9.
On August 9, 2GO, the biggest integrated logistics company in the Philippines, held the Gwapa Dabawenya run to launch the Kadayawan Festivities. This was 2GO’s first-ever fun run in Davao and the first event to take place on the city’s newly constructed coastline route. It was organized in collaboration with Sunrise Events and drew an incredible 2,200 participants.
The tremendous response—2,200 tickets were sold out in just two days—highlights the enthusiasm for the occasion and Davao City’s growing fitness culture. The Gwapa Dabawenya run also served as a model for the IRONMAN Davao series, which was held the same weekend and for which 2GO was a key logistical supporter.
“Our involvement in Gwapa Dabawenya and IRONMAN Davao reinforces our commitment to promoting economic growth in Davao by moving goods and supporting major events. We’re not only easing movement within the city but also encouraging trade across the region and the country,” said Faye Alonzo, Business Unit Head of 2GO Forwarding.
Princess Galura, General Manager of Sunrise Events and organizer of the Gwapa Dabawenya run, also expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, “We are thrilled with the success of the Gwapa Dabawenya and IRONMAN Davao and the overwhelming response from the Davao community. Partnering with 2GO allowed us to seamlessly execute the events, and their logistics support was invaluable in ensuring everything ran smoothly. We look forward to future collaborations that will continue to promote health and wellness across the Philippines.”
Sharon Ngo, Business Unit Head of 2GO Sea Solutions, shared the same sentiment, stating, “By bringing large-scale events to the city, we also create tourism opportunities within these communities and throughout the region. We are thrilled to be part of these significant events and to showcase our logistics expertise in helping people celebrate Davao City’s vibrant culture.”
In addition to its role as a sponsor, 2GO also achieved an impressive 5th place overall in the recently concluded IRONMAN Davao. This accomplishment underscores 2GO’s dedication to both fitness and community engagement, further solidifying its presence in Davao and Mindanao.
As a dependable logistics partner, 2GO made sure that all event-related supply chain and transportation demands were effectively satisfied by offering smooth logistics solutions for both Gwapa Dabawenya and IRONMAN Davao. This demonstrates 2GO’s expertise and its unwavering dedication to providing outstanding service regardless of the difficulty.
As 2GO continues to promote the growth and development of communities throughout the Philippines, the success of these events opens the door for more innovative initiatives.

Evening: Head back to Tokyo Station on the Shinkansen.
This itinerary represents a small portion of what the Tohoku region has to offer. Although a five-day journey is a lot, you’ll find that Tohoku’s stunning natural surroundings and engrossing history will entice you to return time and time again.

Tourists strive to pack as many activities as they can into each day of their trip by planning ahead with packed agendas. However, occasionally we forget to sit down, take a deep breath, and appreciate our surroundings since our lives are already so hectic. That is the essence of Japan. We don’t realize how beautiful nature is until we pause and give it some thought. Japan has breathtaking scenery as well as charming towns; it’s the ideal place to take a moment to appreciate nature.
Shosenkyo Gorge
If you want to take “the scenic route” to a whole new level, stop and admire the views of Shosenkyo Gorge. Located in the Yamanashi Prefecture, the gorge features a hiking trail that takes you through vibrant plants and rock formations that resemble Mt. Fuji and other figures. Speaking of the mountain, you can get a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji and the Southern Japan Alps should you take the ropeway.
To get there, you can go to Kofu Station, a 90-minute ride from Shinjuku Station. From Kofu Station, the rest of the trip is a 40-minute bus ride.
Lake Ashinoko
Lake Ashinoko, in Kanagawa Prefecture, is a walk not to be missed. Mt. Fuji towers over the surrounding view and its reflection fills the caldera lake. Coupled with the Hakone Shrine, the scenery is staggering. Few sights in the world are as breathtaking. You can also go for a ride on one of the pirate ships run by Hakone Sightseeing Boats or on swan paddle boats that are available for hire.
From Tokyo, Lake Ashinoko can be reached via the Romancecar train from Shinjuku Station to Hakone-Yumoto Station. From there, take a 35-minute bus ride to Motohakone-ko station.
Nagatoro
This small town in Saitama Prefecture is a gem waiting to be discovered. Its rich history is nestled in between mountains and trees. Taking a boat ride down the Arakawa River and riding down through the Nagatoro Gorge can soothe any soul, but there are also more intense river rafting rides for those looking for a thrill. Nagatoro is a town designed for outdoor activities and has something for everyone!
Nagatoro can be reached by car through the Kan-Etsu Expressway, or by train through the Chichibu Railway to Nagatoro station, both ways taking around an hour and a half.
Mt. Horaiji
If you are in the mood for soul-searching, look for the towering Mt. Horaiji. It envelops a forest and lets you experience colors that seem hand-picked by a landscape artist. Found in the Aichi Prefecture, this mountain mixes nature and spirituality, perfect for an introspective walk filled with facts about history and Japanese religion. Only a mountain this majestic can remind us that life is bigger than the things we do and that the beauty of the natural world is unmatched. Horaiji Temple located on the mountain was built in 703 and is believed to have curative powers.
Get to Mt. Horaiji by local bus from Hon-Nagashino Station, or by shinkansen from Nagoya Station to Toyohashi Station, transferring to the JR Iida Line to Hon-Nagashino Station.
Nunobiki Falls
Nunobiki Falls may be reached by using a meandering path that winds beyond Shin-Kobe Station, passing a few homes and an odd local. One of the most well-known waterfalls in Japan; the trek is worthwhile because of the vista from the top. There are several informative signs in English and a herb garden, making it a serene location. The Kobe Nunobiki Ropeway can be used to reach the top of the waterfall and provide an unparalleled perspective of the surrounding vegetation. The location offers a distinctive opportunity to experience peace with nature because it is remote from the typical bustle of Japan.
You may travel from Osaka to Shin-Kobe Station in about 12 minutes by taking the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen. The falls are 20 minutes’ trek away from there.
Even if racing through urban jungles on vacation is exciting, there are moments when all we need to do is pause and take in the beauty. For those who take the time to search, Japan is blessed with a plethora of natural beauties. Anyone can create amazing memories and capture amazing photos with a little preparation, a talent for scrutiny, and a sense of adventure. To truly enjoy nature, one must seek it out, and in Japan, the land of boundless discovery, there is always more to see.
(L-R) Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) Senior Vice President Makoto Tanabe, APC Chief Sustainability Officer Ernie Carlos, ACEN Senior Account Manager Elisah Cabato, APC President Koichi Ozaki, APF Bulacan Factory Director Juanito Ramos Jr. and APF Bulacan Factory Manager Kei Tanigawa.
Concerning the mitigation of plastic waste and lowering its carbon footprint, Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) remains a leader in the market. APC has been joining the Ajinomoto Group’s long-running campaign to promote environmental causes, which aims to educate the next generation about the need to live in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly world. As Ajinomoto tightened their engagement to promote a greener world, they did such interesting and helpful programs in their own ways. They also let us have a great time in their place and discover things such as how they value their products. We also discovered how they pack their products in a way that is according to their vision of having a greener environment.
The SariCycleTM Program was introduced by APC, the Quezon City Local Government, and Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies (BEST) Incorporated only this year. This program makes it possible to implement an incentive-based model of community action that reduces the amount of single-use plastic waste generated and motivates all members of the community to participate in being environmental stewards. In just three months of operation since its start in January 2024, the SariCycleTM Program has been able to collect over 1,000 kg of single-use plastics and onboard 359 sari-sari businesses in Quezon City. The initiative offers Ajinomoto product bundles and Environmental Points (EPs), which can be redeemed for cash at participating merchants, as incentives to support the livelihoods of its retail partners, known as “SariCyclers.”
Following this was the official signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between APC and ACEN RES. Back in 2022, a 1MW-peak capacity Solar Rooftop installation on the APF Bulacan Factory comprised of more 2,000 solar panels was energized, effectively reducing its annual carbon footprint from electricity consumption by 18%.Today, APF Bulacan is running on 100% renewable energy. Since January of 2024, the APF Bulacan Factory has saved around Php 2,000,000 in electrical expenses and has reduced their monthly carbon footprint by ~95% by transitioning to full renewable energy. To commemorate the turnout of these efforts, APC and ACEN conducted a Badge Turnover Ceremony. APC was one of the first companies to receive the new generation of ACEN Renewable Energy Badge – awarded to partner facilities who are supplied with 100% renewable energy.
The AjiPanda Diner at Ajinomoto Philippines Flavor Food, Inc. or APF Bulacan Factory.
Aside from being a beacon of sustainability, the APF Bulacan Factory also boasts of its newly opened canteen that serves healthy and good food! At the official opening of the “AjiPanda Diner”, a factory tour was also conducted for some of Ajinomoto Philippines’ invited guests from the media. The group were first given a brief history of Ajinomoto, an orientation on the factory dresscode, safety precautions and the proper conduct during the tour before heading to each station at the factory. The tour was concluded with a lunch buffet highlighting Filipino dishes we all grew up loving like Chicken Tinola, Pork Adobo and Chopsuey, all thoughtfully cooked using Ajinomoto products.
On the way to factory tour at APF Bulacan with media friends Ajinomoto Philippines’ media guests are all suit up at the Production Area during their factory tour at APF Bulacan.
APC Group’s Workplace Nutrition Program provides free vegetable dishes to all Bulacan Factory employees on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in addition to the comfortable and soothing atmosphere of the AjiPanda Diner. As promised by its name, the “AjiPanda Diner,” the cafeteria serves food to both workers and guests of the facility, providing a wholesome Ajinomoto experience. To guarantee that every meal is given with quality and the best flavors, Ajinomoto goods are used to make a wide variety of delectable dishes that both staff and guests can feast their eyes on within the complex!
ONE TEAM. All smiles under the scorching heat at the façade of APF Bulacan’s newly opened AjiPanda Diner. I enjoyed the plant tour at APF Bulacan
As they reflect on these achievements, APC is proud to say that they are still fully committed to reaching the sustainability targets outlined in their 2030 Roadmap. APC’s long-term projects continue to grow and change in response to the demands of the Filipino community while maintaining their primary goal of protecting the environment so that everyone can genuinely Eat Well and Live Well by adopting the Ajinomoto way of life.
