The $4.45 million seed fundraising round for Clout Kitchen, a consumer AI firm based in Los Angeles and Manila, was revealed today.

Together with Taiwan’s AppWorks, Antler, Hustle Fund, Founders Launchpad, Orvel Ventures, and founders and creators like Gabby Dizon (YGG), Kun Gao (Crunchyroll), Voyboy, Jankos, and Perkz, the round was co-led by a16z SPEEDRUN and Peak XV’s Surge.

Founded in 2024, Clout Kitchen creates interactive games and pop culture experiences powered by creators, giving top creators additional avenues to communicate with and grow their fan bases.

Clout Kitchen is led by serial gaming and creator economy builders.

  • Justin Gorriceta-Banusing (CEO) founded and scaled AcadArena (SEA and LatAm’s leading campus gaming platform) to series A and an exit while in college. In high school, they built CONQuest Festival – the largest creator event in SEA with 80K+ attendees.
  • Marcel Feldkamp (CBO) was a pioneering League of Legends pro/creator, playing in the 2013 World Championship. After retiring, he founded the gaming talent agency Prime – who later joined United Talent Agency via Press X.

Clout Kitchen’s first product is Backseat AI, an in-game “buddy” for League of Legends co-built with Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp – one of the world’s biggest gaming content creators with over 20 million followers. Backseat AI is Riot-compliant and guides players on how to best play the game in real-time – from what characters to pick to which items to buy, all by an AI voice twin of their favorite creator. Since launching early access testing in June, the product has hit over 45,000 waitlist signups.

Since its launch in 2008, FEP has organized over 1,000 farmers into 30 groups across 16 localities. These farmers have supplied more than 11 million kilograms of vegetables to the Jollibee Group, generating PHP 500 million in sales. Beyond procurement, FEP trains farmers in agro-entrepreneurship, helping them operate as business partners. The program ensures that farmers meet stringent quality standards, such as Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PhilGAP) certification. Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainability

FEP’s success is built on strong partnerships with local government units, microfinance institutions and cooperatives, the Department of Agriculture (DA) and academic institutions. Recently, JGF signed a three-year agreement with the DA to train more farmers nationwide in value chain development, further scaling the program.

“Our work with farmers has not been just about procurement. It was a collaborative effort in promoting innovation, process improvement, and benchmarking best practices or new technology in agricultural value chain management. During the inaugural Makati Business Club’s Agriculture and Food Security Summit, Jollibee Group Foundation President Gisela Tiongson highlighted the need for farmers to earn profitably to make agriculture an appealing long-term career including the youth.
 

At the summit, Gisela Tiongson, President of JGF, emphasized the importance of building strong farmer cooperatives that go beyond financial services to include consolidation, marketing, and other value-adding activities. “Most farmers are not formally trained as entrepreneurs, so they need support to put in place the needed financial, human resource, and enterprise system,” she said.

Tiongson highlighted the need for farmers to earn profitably to make agriculture an appealing long-term career. “The goal is for farmers’ children to say, ‘I will stay in this industry because I can earn well for my family.’”

Transformative Impact

FEP has changed farmers’ lives by giving them access to financial services, steady incomes, and better living conditions. The program has also given farmers access to cold storage and warehousing facilities with the assistance of partners, allowing them to expand their businesses sustainably.

Toyota supports the Philippines’ first model of end-of-life vehicle dismantler

Toyota, a leader in the automotive industry, has supported En Tsumugi ELV Dismantler Corporation, which is headquartered in Mexico, Pampanga, and is the nation’s first model end-of-life vehicle (ELV) dismantling plant.

En Tsumugi is a fully-owned enterprise of the Hung family, who also owns the nearby metal recycling businesses Supreme Mile Trading Corp. (SMTC) and CoroCrown Corporation. It originated from a pilot project funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and overseen by the Japanese ELV dismantler Tsuruoka Co., Ltd. A number of Japanese companies, such as Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota), offered technical support and business growth.

The establishment of En Tsumugi is a significant milestone in the Philippine automotive industry’s push for a responsible management system for ELVs, or those vehicles with components classified by the local authorities as waste. The facility, open to various car makes, will serve as a benchmark in further developing the local recycling industry while promoting environmental sustainability and the adoption of best practices and foreign expertise.

Through its local unit, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP), Toyota’s involvement in the project includes providing technical support in various areas, such as environmental compliance, facility design, dismantling methodology, equipment requirements, and hazardous waste management.

Furthermore, TMP donated five (5) ELVs, including one hybrid electric vehicle, to En Tsumugi as training units for further equipping and enhancing of the facility’s capabilities.

Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project

“The establishment of a local ELV dismantler aligns with the goals of the ‘Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project,’ which aims to establish a network of proper ELV dismantling facilities worldwide,” said TMP President Masando Hashimoto during the inauguration ceremony of En Tsumugi in Pampanga.

The project seeks to address the environmental challenges posed by ELVs, such as pollution and resource depletion, by promoting proper dismantling and recycling practices, which also contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

En Tsumugi received a Certificate of Gratitude from TMP during the same ceremony. Hashimoto further stated that En Tsumugi, after facilities of a similar nature in Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, is the fourth (4th) ELV dismantler in Southeast Asia to be granted this certification.

As part of its efforts to “Establish a Recycling-based Society and System” under the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050, which was globally introduced in 2015, Toyota is putting the Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project into action

Jollibee Group Intends to Strengthen its Mangrove Reforestation Project Initiative with Employee Volunteers

Jollibee Group employees from various functions planted 1,500 mangrove propagules during a reforestation activity in Brgy. Guinsay, Danao City, Cebu, on August 10, 2024. The activity was held in celebration of the International Day for Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem.

Through its social development arm, the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF), the Jollibee Group  maintains its commitment to help mitigate the effects of climate change through ongoing mangrove reforestation projects led by committed employees from across the nation, with nearly 7,000 mangrove propagules planted to date.

Mangroves are essential for protecting coastal areas, halting erosion, and mitigating the effects of hurricane storm surges. Their extensive root systems serve as nurseries for a wide variety of species, such as fish, prawns, and crabs, in addition to stabilizing and constructing soils. Additionally, the restoration of mangroves improves marine life and local ecosystems, which contributes to the preservation of food security and the livelihoods of local fishermen.

Rehabilitating mangrove ecosystems supports sustainable aquaculture practices by creating breeding grounds for fish and crustaceans. This can lead to improved yields in coastal fisheries, providing food and income.

The ongoing project forms part of the Jollibee Group’s global sustainability agenda dubbed “Joy for Tomorrow.” Under its Planet pillar, the company has set goals and initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly SDG 2 Zero Hunger.

The Jollibee Group has supported the planting of close to 4,000 mangrove propagules in 2023, with the support of partners, such as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and local government units (LGUs). It remains committed to sustaining the project this year, planting 3,000 mangrove propagules thus far.

Jollibee Group employees from different functions and business units together with JGF held a series of planting activities along the coastlines of Alaminos, Pangasinan, Carmen, Cebu, and Lemery, Batangas this year.

JGF’s mangrove reforestation project aims to help restore the country’s mangrove ecosystem and build a resilient future for Filipinos living in coastal communities.



In celebration of the International Day for Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, 30 employee-volunteers from Jollibee Group’s commissary Zenith Foods have also planted 1,500 mangrove propagules during the reforestation activity held in Brgy. Guinsay, Danao City, Cebu last August 2024.

“Our employees have always played a big role in our environmental efforts, and it’s amazing to see them leading the charge in our mangrove reforestation project. Their leadership and participation reflect our vision of reaching out to communities and giving back to the environment,” said JGF President Gisela Tiongson. “We’re also grateful for the guidance from the DENR and the support of our LGU partners, which are key to ensuring the mangroves thrive. Moving forward, we’ll keep tapping into the power of employee volunteerism and working closely with our partners to inspire more people to be responsible stewards of the planet.”

JGF is committed to making this project a national success. The Foundation has already made plans to spearhead other mangrove tree planting events in Cavite and Bulacan during the last quarter of the year, thereby amplifying its influence on environmental preservation and community adaptability.

Henry Moodie, a future worldwide pop sensation, drops his much awaited new EP, “good old days,” on Robots & Humans (UK) and Columbia Records (US). Bioessence commemorates thirty years of exquisite beauty

A lavish event was held to recognize Bioessence’s 30th anniversary, honoring the brand’s history and dedication to “Caring Beyond Beauty.” 

The historic occasion, which honored Bioessence’s role in offering top-notch beauty and wellness services, was held on September 26, 2024, at The Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan in Quezon City. It was a great honor to be part of their successful anniversary celebration. It was such a great night filled with joy and amusement. Everyone of us enjoyed the party, from the scrumptious foods, exciting raffles, and the performances of our great Filipino singers, Sitti and Richard Poon. We also had the chance to know the story behind Bioessence and their humble beginnings and to witness their newest brand ambassador during the event. It was indeed an event full of fun, amazing performances, and inspiration.

An evening filled with surprises, entertainment, and a look back at Bioessence’s thirty years of existence was enjoyed by thousands of guests. Through donations of 100,000 Rewards points, Globe’s G-gantic Goals unlock more than Php 1 million in support

917 Hapag Movement families to receive grocery package, cinema experience

In honor of G DAY, Globe effectively encouraged its users to contribute to the fight against forced hunger, accomplishing its objective of accumulating 100,000 Globe Rewards points five days ahead of schedule.

100,000 Globe consumers contributed 1 Rewards point apiece through the G-gantic Goals campaign to the Hapag Movement, an initiative aimed at reducing forced hunger and giving disadvantaged families across the country access to possibilities for employment.

G-gantic Goals is among activities being held in celebration of G DAY, Globe’s annual event commemorating its iconic 917 prefix. Beyond exclusive rewards and exciting surprises, Globe is offering an opportunity for customers to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need through the campaign.

“G-gantic Goals or GGG empowers our customers to become active agents of change, helping combat hunger and contributing to broader sustainable development goals. We are very grateful to those who helped us achieve our G-Gantic Goal of raising 100,000 Rewards points for the Hapag Movement faster than expected!” said Jerome Patalud, Head of Globe Rewards.

G-gantic Goals called for 1-point Rewards donations from its customers starting September 1, kicking off the month-long G DAY celebrations. The donation period was supposed to end on September 20, but Globe reached the 100,000 target by September 15.

The campaign will culminate on September 28, Saturday of the National Family Week with a special treat for 917 Hapag Movement beneficiary families or about 3,688 individuals who will receive G Day grocery baskets filled with food essentials worth over Php 1 million.

As an added surprise, the families will also be treated to a free movie screening where they can watch together and bond— an experience that will be a first for some. The screenings will take place at select Ayala Malls Cinemas nationwide: TriNoma, Ayala Malls Feliz, U.P. Town Center, Ayala Malls MarQuee Mall in Pampanga, Ayala Center Cebu, and Ayala Malls Abreeza in Davao.

Globe is collaborating with partners including Ayala Foundation, Scholars of Sustenance Philippines, Ayala Malls Cinemas, and Puregold Price Club Inc. to bring this special treat to life.
