The Green Run, the trademark event of Vermosa Estate that encourages both physical and emotional wellbeing via outdoor running, is back this year with a special gift for dog owners and pet parents.

For individuals who want to join their dogs on an adventure, Green Run 2023 offers a special 1K race in addition to the 25K, 10K, 5K, and 3K distance categories. This enjoyable race, known as The Dog Run, is open to dog owners who want to take their dogs out on Vermosa’s verdant paths.

Dogs require exercise for their health and happiness, just like humans do. Togetherness while walking or running is not only enjoyable but also healthy for both pet owners and their furry children.

Dogs and people will both appreciate the lovely Vermosa paths that wind through expansive greenery and open spaces and are made more runner-friendly by wide pedestrian sidewalks, bicycle and jogging lanes, and improved greenways. Here are a few tips for dog parents to make sure their canine companions get the most out of the Dog Run before they go out on their joint adventure in joy and fitness.

  1. Make sure your dog is wearing a back-clip harness instead of a collar. Any pressure on his/her throat while running is potentially dangerous.
  • Warm up before the Run. Do a few minutes of walking or slow jogging before you position yourselves at the starting line. Stretch your dog by letting him/her lie down and stand up several times. Give him or her time to sniff around and take time to poo or pee. Make sure you have waste bags ready.
  • Feel the surface for at least 10 seconds. If the pavement’s too hot for your hand or bare feet, it will be the same for your dog. Wet your dog’s under pad for some protection before you take off. Or use canine booties to protect them from the heat. Booties will also provide protection against any sharp objects on the trail.
  • Take water breaks. If your dog is panting hard, he/she probably needs water. Make sure you have a container that your dog can drink from – like a collapsible bowl or a bottle with a spout for dogs. Making sure your dog is well hydrated – especially in really hot weather – will protect him/her from sun stroke. Just don’t let your dog gulp too much water during or after exercise.
  • Don’t give treats right after the run. Give your dog time to recover from all the panting and sweating. Hold off on treats until both of you have calmed down a bit. Don’t give ice water right away. The extreme temperature change may cause vomiting. But praise for your running buddy, petting, a hug and lots of attention will be much appreciated and can be given anytime.

On June 25, participate in Vermosa’s Green Run for family enjoyment, mental health, and physical fitness

The Green Run in Vermosa 2023 is scheduled to begin on June 25, Sunday, almost a year after the inaugural Green Run in July 2022. After being cooped up at home due to the pandemic, last year’s Green Run welcomed everyone to lace up and enjoy the outdoors for physical and emotional wellness.

As both serious and recreational runners continue to improve their fitness, this year’s Green Run challenges everyone to be “leaner and greener”. The Haribon Foundation is still supported by the Run, which also emphasizes how everyone can do their part to protect the environment.

A 3K run for novices, a 5K run for intermediate runners, a 10K run for serious runners, and a half-marathon 21K level for elite runners and athletes in training are the three levels offered by the Green Run. A fun and adorable 1K dog run has been added to the event this year, providing dogs and their owners a wonderful opportunity to connect and exercise together. There will probably be a few celebrities running as well.

The Vermosa Green Run is unique because it allows participants and guests to pursue their passions while taking advantage of Vermosa’s natural beauty, clear skies, and unpolluted environment.

“The abundance of wide-open spaces, lush greenery, flat and rolling terrain and well-constructed walkways at Vermosa offer both challenges and rewards for runners,” said Vermosa Project Development Manager Moses John Aragones.

Organized by Pinoy Fitness, The Green Run will give proceeds of the Run to Haribon Foundation’s Adopt-a-Seedling Program. Runners and guests get a chance to protect the environment by recycling their plastic bottles at the Sun Life ReCycle PH machine on-site where every bottle donated can earn participants points which can be exchanged for prizes.

Green Run’s exclusive non-life insurance partner, FPG Insurance, will also provide all race participants with a 1-month Personal Accident (PA) insurance coverage, ensuring their safety and peace of mind throughout the event.

Ms. Tan said Vermosa Estates plans to hold the Green Run every year because of Vermosa’s commitment to actively promote sport and an active, healthy lifestyle.

The 2023 edition of TMP’s top one-make-race series, the TGR Vios Cup, and its largest national e-motorsports championship, the TGR Gran Turismo (GT) Cup Philippines, are kicking off another thrilling motorsports season.

With these two exciting events coming up, racing enthusiasts may anticipate watching both on-track and online competitions!

Feel the heat of race track action

The TGR Vios Cup kick starts its ninth season with the first out of three legs happening on July 1 at the Clark International Speedway. In the near future, the All-New Toyota Zenix will be highlighted in Toyota’s HEV initiatives, and both its HEV and gas models will be on display in a few chosen stores around the country. The All-New Toyota Zenix is priced starting at PHP 1,670,000 for the gas version and PHP 1,953,000 for the HEV version.
