At UNICON 2022, Home Credit demonstrates the influence of gaming in Iloilo

The United Iloilo Convention (UNICON 2022), which will take place in Western Visayas from October 29 to 30, 2022 at the SM City Iloilo Cyberzone, will bring together fans of video games, toys, and cosplay. Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), the nation’s top consumer finance company, collaborated with ILO Esports, the only government-backed esports organization in the Philippines, to put the convention together.

A toy convention, cosplay exhibition, and e-games competition were among the many events at UNICON 2022. The Giving Café: UPLB will soon carry award-winning Laguna Liberica Coffee!

Soon, tourists and residents of Lagunan will be able to sample Sta. The Liberica coffee from Maria town, which most recently took home the Silver medal in the Signature Coffee Award: Latte category at the Global Coffee Championship in Korea. The Giving Café (TGC) in UPLB, which just opened yesterday, will serve Santa Maria, Laguna farmers’ world-champion coffee. The store is situated at the soda fountain of the UPLB Student Union.

“The Giving Cafe, a Social Enterprise by Henry & Sons, aims to build a beautiful coffee future by helping coffee farmers through its advocacy arm, The Foundation for sustainable coffee excellence (FSCE),” shares Michael Harris Conlin, 2019 PH Barista Champion and President and CEO of Henry and Sons.

The TGC’s proceeds will go to UPLB’s chosen coffee village in Santa Maria, Barangay Juan Santiago in Laguna. With 38 households and 85,000 Liberica and Excelsa trees, the Barangay Juan Santiago coffee growing community has the highest density of Liberica and Excelsa trees in Laguna and maybe the entire Calabarzon. The money donated by TGC: UPLB will go toward bio-dynamic farming methods, bettering harvesting, processing, and the much-needed coffee drying solutions for the local community.

Celebrity “Car Boot Sale” held in Greenfield District

Greenfield Development Corp. (GDC) will host a “Car Boot Sale” with celebrities and influencers from November 18 to November 20 in the Mayflower Parking Area of Greenfield District in honor of the approaching Christmas season.

Atty. According to GDC Executive Vice President Duane A.X. Santos, the occasion marks the first anniversary of the Food Truck Fest. It is Metro Manila’s largest collection of food trucks that are consistently located in one location.

“We added the Car Boot Sale to complement the Food Truck Fest, which offers a unique and safe al fresco dining experience to the public with 18 food trucks set up at the heart of Mandaluyong’s Greenfield District,” he said, adding strict health protocols are in place to ensure the safety of the public. 

This year, Santos said GDC invited celebrities and influencers, including Maxine Medina, Kim Baranda, Jome Silayan, Louise delos Reyes, Chris Tan, Karel Marquez and Kevin Ty, to sell pre-loved items, plants, food, and other products. 

“We wanted to have a shopping component that would go well with the Food Truck Fest, especially during the ‘Ber months’ so we came up with the concept where vehicles will serve as merchants’ stores,” he explained.

Santos also encouraged entrepreneurs, including startups, to sell their products and test the market.

He said the event also aims to raise awareness among the public on supporting local sellers and protecting the environment by using reusable bags. 

“Soon, we intend to come up with more interesting and fun activities and offer a possible venue for outdoor corporate events like product launches, especially since it already has a captured market,” Santos added.

The Car Boot Sale: Celebrity Edition will operate from 4 pm until 12 midnight, while the Food Truck Fest runs daily from Monday to Thursday, 12 noon until 10 pm, and Friday to Sunday, from 12 noon until 12 midnight.

With the release of her peppy Christmas song “Pasko Kasama Mo” via WATERWALK RECORDS and Sony Music Entertainment, Filipina singer-songwriter Hazel Faith spreads holiday cheer.

Bringing back the gilded memories of Christmas and reminding listeners why it’s the best time of the year, “Pasko Kasama Mo” sees the budding superstar revisiting the holiday experience with technicolored bounce, funky chords, and a ’80s city pop lilt.

“My mother has been asking me to write Christmas songs since forever,” says the multi-talented act. “But I had a hard time writing my own because I felt like all the great Christmas messages had already been made. For that reason, and the truth that I only saw Christmas as a tradition, left me uninspired. But after the Lord renewed my faith, it’s like my vision turned technicolor. Suddenly, I was excited to celebrate Christmas. Not because of the parties, the foods, or the gifts but because I was finally looking at the One whom Christmas is all about. Truly Christmas felt hollow without Christ himself. And that led me to writing Pasko Kasama Mo. This was finally something I had a unique perspective to.”

The track was written by Hazel Faith herself, and was arranged, produced, mixed, and mastered by Albert Tamayo, a good friend of the gospel-pop sensation. Faith, in particular, felt eternally grateful to Tamayo for being part of her music journey and lending his talent to the project.

“It’s a joy for me to be able to showcase his genius in Pasko Kasama Mo as well,” adds Hazel Faith. “When it came to the vibe, it was probably influenced by my feeling of nostalgia and then looking forward to all that is new. But honestly, I just told kuya Albert to make it sound like a station ID.”
