In line with Singapore’s approach to resuming activities in a calibrated and safe manner, ONE: REIGN OF DYNASTIES will implement all necessary measures to ensure the safety of its athletes, officials, and crew.

Hua Fung Teh, Group President of ONE Championship, stated: “We are honored that ONE Championship has been entrusted by the Singapore Government to pilot the return of international sports events for broadcast from Singapore. We are thrilled to be able to bring our local and international heroes back to the Singapore Indoor Stadium to inspire martial arts fans in Singapore and around the world with their inspiring combination of heart, hard work, and talent.”

Ms. Ong Ling Lee, Director, Sports, Singapore Tourism Board, stated: “We are pleased to work with ONE Championship to bring ONE: REIGN OF DYNASTIES to Singapore. Together, we will test-bed appropriate safe management measures in this important production pilot that could pave the way for sports events to take place in the future.”

The main event will see reigning ONE Strawweight Muay Thai & Kickboxing World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao of Thailand defending his Muay Thai World Title against Josh “Timebomb” Tonna of Australia.

Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion, stated: “I’ve been working hard over the last few months, honing my skills further as the competition intensifies. Everyone wants a piece of the champion, and there are many great challengers out there. This break has really allowed me to focus on myself and re-energize. I’m ready to get back into the Circle and defend my World Title. Josh Tonna is a hungry young warrior, and I know he will be in the best condition possible for this fight. I’m coming in with my best too. For my fans, the pride of Thailand, and my team at Evolve MMA, I will beat Tonna and remain champion.”

Josh Tonna, ONE World Title challenger, stated: “I would first like to thank ONE Championship for the opportunity to compete for the ONE World Title. It is an honor for me to face such a huge name in Muay Thai, the legendary Sam-A Gaiyanghadao. This is without a doubt the biggest fight of my career. I know I’m heading into this fight as the underdog, but I’ve been in this position before. Not many people are giving me a chance to win. But I perform the best when people doubt me. I will do everything in my power to walk out of the arena with the ONE World Title around my waist.”

Also seeing action on the card is a high caliber group of global mixed martial arts stars:

Joshua Pacio Weighs in on Dejdamrong vs Hexigetu Matchup at ONE: REIGN OF DYNASTIES

Undisputed reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio of the Philippines welcomes any challenger willing to step up to the plate, looking for a crack at his world title. The 24-year-old Team Lakay standout admits he will be watching the next ONE Championship event very closely.

Former ONE World Champion and Lumpinee Stadium legend Dejdamrong “Kru Rong” Sor Amnuaysirichoke of Thailand will face China’s “Wolf of the Grasslands” Hexigetu in a three round mixed martial arts contest at ONE: REIGN OF DYNASTIES, scheduled for Friday, 9 October. Venue and location for this event have yet to be confirmed and announced by ONE Championship.

Pacio, who holds his former foe in high regard, feels this bout is going to be a thrilling war.

“This is going to be a very explosive matchup, given the two styles. They are both very aggressive and like to lead the pace. Dejdamrong is a very experienced athlete with years of competition on his resume. Of course, he has some of the best standup in the world owing to his time in Thailand’s top Muay Thai circuits,” said Pacio.

“Hexigetu, meanwhile, is a very explosive and athletic fighter. That’s why I expect an exciting showdown between these two amazing athletes.”

“The Passion” faced Dejdamrong in March of 2017, winning by close split decision, so Pacio is extremely familiar with the veteran’s distinct style and characteristics.

Despite Dejdamrong already being 41-years old and in the right retirement age, Pacio feels the Thai warrior has enough left in the tank to beat Hexigetu and perhaps make his way back up the strawweight ladder.

“I don’t think age really matters that much as long as you still have that drive and desire to compete against the best,” said Pacio.

“Dejdamrong has that, and even more. I believe he wants to make another run at the title, and I welcome him. I think if he wins this fight, and he turns in an impressive performance, he can easily climb up the rankings.”

ONE Championship returns for its next big blockbuster with ONE: REIGN OF DYNASTIES, scheduled for Friday, 9 October, and once again, the world’s greatest martial artists are ready to take the stage and showcase their incredible skills in the ONE Circle.

In the main event, reigning ONE Strawweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao of Thailand will defend his Muay Thai title against top contender Josh “Timebomb” Tonna of Australia.

Though this bout appears closely contested on paper, Pacio fully expects Dejdamrong to emerge victorious.

“What was tough about Dejdamrong was that you can immediately feel that he’s been in this game for a long time. He knows everything there is to know about fighting, and he’s a very technical striker. No doubt, he got all that from his time as a Lumpinee Stadium champion. He really is one of the greatest,” said Pacio.

“This is going to be a fun fight but I have Dejdamrong winning this one.”

Alessandra de Rossi releases remastered version of “Make It Better”

Alessandra de Rossi

The ambient music project of actress/producer/director/writer Alessandra de Rossi, officially joins the growing roster of music acts under Manila-based indie label, Lilystars Records.

Make It Better”, de Rossi’s first major project as a solo artist is the re-release of the landmark single and now out on all digital platforms worldwide this October 2, 2020 (Friday) via Lilystars Records. Delicately arranged with ethereal soundscapes, trip-hop beats, and New Age-inspired vocals, ADR’s self-penned and self-produced electro-pop number has been given a remastered treatment, making it sound more polished than ever.

WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO OF “MAKE IT BETTER”:

Written in as early as 2010, “Make It Better” is a product of its time: a confessional outlet that simmers with disappointment and heartbreak. “It’s supposedly written for someone, but maybe I was looking for the exact words that I really wanted to tell myself,” the multi-hyphenate artist shares in a statement. “But dedicating it to someone else felt easier. Is it too vague? Don’t worry, the feeling is mutual.”

Aside from “Make It Better,” ADR’s debut record,Adrift will also make its way to several music platforms soon in remastered format. Initially released in 2012, the 13-track chillout, electronic and ambient album was made available for free download as a zip file.

“I was told by so many, that no one would buy my music because it’s not pop enough for radio,” ADR said. “But it’s 2020: everything is much more accessible, thanks to all online streaming platforms. I’m just really happy that people who don’t have access to laptops or computers can now finally hear it through their phones. And skip throughout the whole song, if it’s not pop enough.”

Music was once just a hobby for ADR, and dropping old and new music under a record label felt very new to her, despite giving out songs for free since 2008. “Now under Lilystars, it makes me feel crazy to be lined up with musicians who are really legit, and I’m still trying to let everything sink in. I don’t know if I should be terrified or very terrified.”

George T. Yang, McDonald’s PH Founder shares the love to frontliners on the anniversary of McDonald’s

George Yang

In September 1981, McDonald’s opened its first store in the Philippines in Morayta, Manila. Almost 40 years later, the Golden Arches has become part of the lives of Filipinos, with thousands of directly hired employees serving customers McDonald’s world-famous menu items, as well as local favorites in over 600 restaurants nationwide.

Recognizing the malasakit of the company’s employees to serve customers and the community amid the pandemic, McDonald’s Philippines Chairman and Founder, Dr. George T. Yang expressed his gratitude through a short music video (https://bit.ly/3kEULU7)

Known for his singing prowess, particularly for classical music, Dr. Yang sang a few lines dedicated to their own employees, and all healthcare workers, as a montage of photos appeared of McDonald’s frontliners working tirelessly to serve Filipinos during these challenging times.

Seen in the video as well would be the McDo Kindness Kitchen, an initiative of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which has been able to distribute close to 300,000 meals to different frontliners and communities in need.

Dey Rose debunks conformity on new EP, Panting Heart

Dey Rose

Dey Rose, Vancouver-based Filipina singer-songwriter maintains a gripping sense of vulnerability on her debut EP, Panting Heart—released and now available on all digital and streaming platforms worldwide via Lilystars Records.

Intricately written and produced to capture a sound of lasting resonance and warmth, the 6-track record blends jazz-infused pop with folk, country, blues, prog rock, ’70s soul, and R&B, while exploring fascinating new directions in terms of arrangements and lyrics. With an eclectic selection of songs grounded in evocative storytelling, the Baguio-born musician presents a snapshot of confessional intimacy in the time of restlessness and paranoia, freeing herself from the conformity of others and social expectations.

The EP’s focus single “Di Mo Lang Alam” is inspired by the stories of new friends Dey Rose met in the Philippines. Its smooth, jazzy runs and suave rhythms swoop and slide effortlessly in the background, while the Filipina-Canadian artist’s mesmerizing vocals take the center stage in a rejuvenating light. It’s easily one of the best songs in the record, a balm of sunshine that conceals its very brooding narrative with a tale of caution and hope.

Other must-hear gems include the throwback-sounding jam “Puzzle Piece,” the bluesy ballad “Paulit-ulit,” the vocally arresting tune “When I’m With You,” and the title track “Panting Heart.” The EP’s signature sound feels like a hodgepodge of influences that range from Lolita Carbon to Etta James, Amy Winehouse to Lorde, seamlessly rendered to capture a wide range of emotions strengthened by both experience and technique.

Musically diverse and engaging, Panting Heart serves as a testament to Dey Rose’s incredible maturity as an artist of characteristic composure. It delivers moments of earnest beauty and restraint in equal stride, inhabiting a sense of balance for good measure.

Syd Hartha’s new single “hiwaga” reflects self-awakening

Music Artist Syd Hartha quicky rose to prominence in less than two year of being signed under Sony Music Philippines with compelling pop/folk anthems that expertly balance lyrical depth with relatability and social relevance. From taking a pro-woman stand on “ayaw” to documenting the importance of self-restraint on “paru-paro,” the young singer-songwriter marks a clear step forward in terms of exploring outsider themes that even her contemporaries would seem to avoid.

Latest single, “hiwaga” of Syd Hartha takes a moment to reflect on her personal actions through a stunningly produced, stripped-down tune that deals with self-awakening and healing in preparation to becoming “the best version of herself”—to reference a line from the coming-of-age film, Lady Bird. “hiwaga” is out now on all digital platforms worldwide via Sony Music Philippines.

Syd Hartha

Writing from a place of newfound perspective and riveting wisdom, Syd wrote “hiwaga” as a reminder that no matter who you are and what you may be going through, you are still capable of being part of a better change. “Basically, the love you have for yourself reflects to everyone and everything around you,” the critically acclaimed musician explains. “There was a time in my life where I felt so stuck and started to question my existence and the reason for everything. What inspired me to write this song is my awakening to the fact that I was given this life for a reason. I want to heal so I can be the best version of myself for everyone around me and I want to inspire people to do the same.”

Quite a diversion from her usual sound, “hiwaga” is produced by Johnoy Danao, and performed with her backing band consisting of Bea Fabros, Raisa Racelis and Pat Sarabia. According to Syd Hartha, the track was recorded at the confines of the musicians’ homes under the guidance of Johnoy Danao. “Initially, we thought of a big production incorporating more instruments like horns, but we decided we wanted to give the song a lot of room to breathe and let the lyrics shine.” Syd adds, “recording ‘hiwaga,’ was definitely challenging because it was our first time producing a single without seeing each other.”

The song also features a rap verse from Syd herself, who admits that hip-hop has greatly influenced her songwriting. “As someone who’s so fond of several hip-hop artists’ writing and delivery, I noticed how stronger and more effective it is when the message is somehow spoken instead of sung. Also, when I wrote ‘hiwaga,’ it all started with just words; it was me having a conversation with myself. I decided then that I wanted the feel to be more conversational and more focused on the message of the lyrics.”

Listen to ‘dear me’ of Gentle Bones, A Compelling Note to Self

Gentle Bones

Gentle Bones, Singaporean singer-songwriter has released a new song, ‘dear me’,  is a 00’s Pop and R&B leaning ballad that spotlights our individual inclinations towards the relationship we have with ourselves. This is an exploration that sees self-reflection fray into the plural experience of talking to an inner self, accrediting feelings you’re not sure why you have. In the track, Bones converses with himself in the mirror, tugging with the war waged by the “boy that never left”. His reflective act of internal way finding is carried out with bold yet reclusive values, retaining the introspective and insular poise necessary for this quiet moment.  It is this rewarding brand of insight that enables one to self-affirm and move on, closing the unsettling doors of the past.

The main themes percolating the track result from a note to self and rather inquisitive approach to mental health leading to self discovery. The song envisages the process of understanding repressive parts of us that have lingered since our not-so-great experiences of old. He asks “was it something you said, did you try to tell me”, seeking those elusive and yet intrusive saboteur emotions that have acted out in the past, urging a need for confronting them now. ‘dear me,’  now out on all digital platforms worldwide.

‘dear me,’ is reminiscent of the anthemic songs that made you sing along to choruses of yesteryear, invoking the sonic stylings of both old and new school Pop. “This is a song written to myself. Really just a moment of reflection over the ups and downs in my life over the years and I wanted to encapsulate that into song. Sonically, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of blending a well-written ballad with hip-hop leaning sounds for a long time and I’ve finally achieved the perfect balance with this track”.
