Globe Honors You: GDay 2025 Strengthens Community Engagement and Honors Ka-Globe Employees

Globe honored its employees, one of its most significant stakeholders, with a poignant celebration on this year’s GDay. Under the theme Globe Celebrates You, the firm honored Ka-Globe’s enthusiasm, diligence, and commitment while transforming the event into a chance to actively collaborate with cause-driven organizations and give back to the community.

Leaders surprised staff members with gifts and symbols of appreciation to start the celebration. A Thanksgiving Mass led by Father Jerry Orbos SVD followed, establishing the day’s spirit of thankfulness. Activities like food booths, games, customized GDay pins with each employee’s avatar, buskers, and an interactive video booth were enjoyed by Ka-Globes across all workplaces.

Employees participated in the G Raffle Rush in the weeks before the event, which offered daily challenges and unexpected rewards like unique 917 merchandise, travel vouchers, and staycations. With teams nominating peers in categories including Team Spirit, Hype Machine, Connector, Happy Helper, and Everyday Hero—recognitions that mirrored commonplace acts of generosity and teamwork—the GDay Shoutouts further highlighted Ka-Globes.

91.7 Minutes of Globe of Good

GDay also underscored Globe’s enduring commitment to community service. Employees across the country dedicated 91.7 Minutes of Service with 7 partner NGOs, turning the celebration into a day of collective effort.

More than 3,000 volunteers were assigned to different activities. Some joined disaster response efforts by repacking relief and hygiene kits with ABS-CBN Foundation/Sagip-Kapamilya and Save the Children, while others worked with Ayala Foundation to prepare food packs for schoolchildren. Education and youth-focused initiatives included assembling Kindness Boxes for primary students with World Vision and holding livelihood projects with Project Pearls and GROW Nanays. To promote inclusion and well-being, Ka-Globes partnered with Special Olympics Pilipinas, an organization supporting athletes with special needs, for an athlete care kit preparation. Environmental action also played a role, as employees supported Hands On Manila’s Bokashi Project, creating eco-balls to help clean the filthy esteros in Manila.

Team Globe of Good Brand Ambassadors joined the efforts, dedicating their time alongside employee-volunteers and demonstrating the company’s culture of care in action.

Complementing volunteer efforts were fundraising initiatives such as T-Shirt for a Cause, where employees contributed a portion of their work hours or salaries. Through this collective spirit, Ka-Globes initially pledged to raise ₱917,000 for partner beneficiaries, and to date have surpassed expectations by generating over ₱2 million.

More Than a Celebration

For Carl Cruz, Globe’s President and CEO, his first GDay as chief executive carried special meaning. “You are the reason we are here. Every single one of you embodies the spirit of GDay, and your passion and commitment make it possible for us to serve our customers and our communities. Our employees are Globe’s greatest asset, and this celebration is more than a day of appreciation, it’s a testament to our shared purpose of care, malasakit, and innovation. Together, let’s make every day a GDay. Globe celebrates you.”

“Today we celebrate two milestones in our company’s history: 10 years of 917 GDay and 10 years of Employee Volunteer Time Off,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “Your small acts of kindness combined  create a resounding Globe of Good. And creating a Globe of Good is our purpose in action, it is relatable, impactful, and above all human and humane.”

On September 17, 2025, the highly anticipated second season of Prime Video’s popular series Gen V, the explosive spin-off from The Boys, premiered. The first three episodes will be released weekly after that.

Season 2, which is set in the ethically complex world of Godolkin University, begins while the university is still dealing with the aftermath of the devastating conclusion of Season 1. As Homelander’s hold on America becomes stronger, the students must contend with fresh dangers, an enigmatic new Dean, and a covert operation that has the potential to change everything.

When I watched the movie

The return of Gen V for Season 2 excites me because it goes beyond action and spectacle, diving into the morally complex world of Godolkin University where students must navigate identity, power, and survival amid corruption and hidden agendas. With Homelander’s influence tightening across America, the stakes feel even higher, showing how young people are forced to grow while caught in larger systems that test their values and choices. The introduction of a new Dean and a secret program adds to the sense of uncertainty, reminding me of how authority often conceals deeper motives. For me, this season feels like more than just entertainment—it reflects real struggles of questioning authority, facing pressure, and holding on to one’s beliefs even when the world seems against you.

Returning to her role as Marie Moreau, Jaz Sinclair shares her excitement. “We left off Season 1 having discovered a whole new level of Marie’s abilities, and I was thrilled to see where the writers were going to go from there with that. Everything felt a bit foreboding and grim, which gave me a lot to play with.”

Sinclair adds, “I like that Marie is just figuring it out as she goes, I definitely can relate to the moments of hers that are awkward and fumble-y. I like that she makes mistakes. But maybe, people also relate to feeling guilty or out of place and wanting to turn that into something good?”

Also returning is Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer, whose transformation in Season 2 is both emotional and empowering. “Emma’s deep into her post-shrink-show, post-apocalypse era and I am so here for it. She’s still got that awkward charm, but now there’s grit, bite, and a growing refusal to be the emotional dumping ground for everyone else.”

Broadway reflects on the season’s deeper themes, “Grief changes people, trust me, it changed Emma, and it changed me too. Through all of that, Emma finds this fierce, unapologetic strength. She finally starts speaking up for herself and owning her space.”

In Season 2, Hamish Linklater plays Cipher, the mysterious new Dean of Godolkin University, whose entrance sets the stage for a riskier, darker semester.

Gen V Season 2 is expected to be even more insane, moving, and exciting than its debut thanks to its intense action, emotional depth, and scathing satire. Beginning on September 17, 2025, Gen V Season 2 will be available on Prime Video worldwide.

Through the GlobeOne app, Globe and Beetzee Play provide brief, binge-worthy episodes for just Php 1 apiece, allowing you to turn life’s pauses into kilig-filled escapes, action-packed breathers, or heartwarming tales.

Globe is once again reinventing the mobile entertainment experience as the first carrier in the Philippines to partner with Beetzee Play. GlobeOne customers may now conveniently top up, stream, and integrate Globe Rewards in one location. No need to register on another platform or download a different app. All you have to do is launch the GlobeOne app, choose Beetzee Play by tapping Essentials on the dashboard. Get your number registered and begin viewing your favorite Piso Serye.

This partnership responds to two converging consumer trends: the rise of mobile-first, short-form content and the increasing need to deepen in-app engagement. Beetzee Play changes that dynamic by inviting customers to stay engaged through quick, emotionally resonant content designed specifically for mobile.

“We are always delivering ways for everyday life hacks and moments of delight to our customers, bringing happiness to them wherever we can, and our partnership with Beetzee Play does just that. We’re letting people choose what they want, when they want it, in quick but satisfying doses,” said Darius Delgado, Globe Chief Commercial Officer.

Globe introduced its latest Beetzee series titled “First Things Last” during The Blueprint event last August 27. The series revolves around a heartbroken Lisa, who after being dumped before a dream trip to El Nido, drunkenly searches online for a travel companion who shares the same name as her ex. When a stranger named DJ shows up, the two embark on three days of ‘firsts for the last time,’ blurring the line between healing and heartache until Lisa’s past comes calling.

Beetzee’s Piso Serye are bite-sized vertical dramas tailored for mobile phones and created for Filipinos who love teleserye, regularly scroll through TikTok and Reels, and prefer content in short bursts.

The Philippines ranks among the top consumers of short drama content in Southeast Asia, contributing to the global surge of over 475 million app downloads in 2024 alone. Globe’s highly engaged customer base, who open the GlobeOne app an average of 14 times per month, makes it an ideal platform for delivering localized, mobile-native content without disrupting user habits.

Coco Martin greets Toyota Cagayan de Oro’s Tamaraw customers

The Tamaraw ambassador shares his ‘Abante, Posible’ stories with Kagay-anon MSME owners

Kagay-anons, who had been anticipating the well-known actor’s arrival, erupted in drumbeats and yells of delight as Coco Martin appeared at the Toyota store in Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro.

As part of the nationwide Tamaraw caravan orchestrated by Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) and its partner dealers, Coco Martin, brand ambassador for Next Generation Tamaraw, paid a visit to Toyota Cagayan de Oro (TCO) during CDO’s Higalaay celebrations. At his first provincial tour, CDO, Coco had the opportunity to meet and greet Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw customers, who respect function, cost-effectiveness, and hard work in their pursuit of improving their communities.

(L–R): Toyota Cagayan de Oro Executives Peter Lim Lo Suy & Betty Lu, Toyota Tamaraw Ambassador Coco Martin, and New Tamaraw Owners Mr. & Mrs. Lopez

In appreciation for CDO customers who chose the Next Generation Tamaraw as their partner for progress, Coco joined TCO officers Ms. Betty Lu and Mr. Peter Lim Lo Suy in releasing a newly purchased Toyota Tamaraw Utility Van to customers Mr. & Mrs. Lopez.

The actor also shared his experience with his own Toyota Tamaraw, emphasizing the versatility and dependability of the vehicle in helping him run his business.

“Habang okay ang aking career, sinisumulan ko ang pag nenegosyo. Nagtayo ako ng isang kompanya na ang pangalan ay Coco Plus (While my career is going well, I’m starting a business. I established a company called Coco Plus),” said Coco during his talk in front of TCO customers. “Ang Tamaraw ang ginagamit ko para sa aking hanap buhay para mas mapabilis ang pag-aangkat at pagdedeliber ng aking mga produkto (I use the Tamaraw for my business to speed up the delivery of my products),” he added.

Toyota Tamaraw Utility Van Owner Sohaimah Noroden meets Coco Martin at Toyota Cagayan de Oro

One of the customers present in the showroom to meet the Tamaraw ambassador was Sohaimah Noroden, who runs N&S Glassware and is into live selling.

She bought a Tamaraw Aluminum Cargo for her business. She finds it to be fuel-efficient, easy to drive, cargo-efficient, and pocket-friendly for a businesswoman like her who is part of the MSME sector that is thriving in Cagayan de Oro City. It’s easy to load cargo on her Tamaraw, she said.

Coco Martin met more Kagay-anons at a nearby mall where Toyota had a vibrant display of the Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw. His surprise visit drew mallgoers to check out the Tamaraw, which they saw as having evolved in design and being customized to the needs of its market.

From the showroom to the mall in the City of Golden Friendship, Toyota Tamaraw brand ambassador Coco Martin gave Kagay-anons his heart and his smile.

The Next Generation Toyota Tamaraw was introduced in 2024 as a versatile utility vehicle that responds to the needs of various entrepreneurs. Recently, TMP expanded the Tamaraw lineup by unveiling the Wing Van, Food Truck, and Mobile Store last July. These conversions join the existing Dropside, Utility Van, and the Aluminum Cargo variants.

Pru Life UK supports Caloocan community cleanup efforts to help stop dengue and leptospirosis

Residents of Caloocan are taking action to protect their communities from the health risks that frequently follow prolonged periods of intense rain and widespread flooding that continue to affect many regions of the country. Residents started cleanup efforts to lower the dangers of dengue and leptospirosis, two illnesses that flourish in flood-prone areas, with assistance from Pru Life UK through its SHIELD Project.

The Sustainable Health Interventions for Eradicating Leptospirosis and Dengue (SHIELD) Project, which aims to increase community resilience against two of the most prevalent climate-sensitive diseases in the Philippines that are predicted to worsen as a result of climate change, is being implemented in specific communities in Caloocan and Malabon.

The project is funded with PHP10 million grant from the Climate and Health Resilience Fund by Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential plc, with CARE Philippines as the project implementing partner.

Over 110 volunteers, including barangay staff and residents from Barangays 178 and 186 in Caloocan, joined a two-day community-led initiative in August to eliminate stagnant water, clear potential mosquito breeding sites, and remove waste that can clog drainage systems. The SHIELD Project provided essential cleaning supplies such as brooms, dustpans, and garbage disposal bags as well as mosquito repellents to support the effort.

To raise awareness, Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials on dengue and leptospirosis prevention were distributed to residents. These efforts not only helped create cleaner, safer public spaces but also strengthened community knowledge on how to prevent climate-sensitive diseases.

“Through collaborative efforts with the residents and stakeholders from the local government units, we are able to bring the community together and foster a sense of collective responsibility to help build resilience to the health risks of climate change,” said Maricel Estavillo, Pru Life UK’s Sustainability and Takaful Head.

This September, Malabon will host cleanup events to carry on the community-led campaign for resilience and public health.

The Manual for a Waste-Free Future is released by SM Prime

Limited number of copies have been printed in support of SM Prime’s sustainability efforts. A digital copy of the manual will be made available for download.

Manila. Making segregation straightforward, quick, and actionable is the goal of the SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime) campaign for a Waste-Free Future and its Recyclable, Disposable, Compostable, or RDC model.

The SM Waste Free Future Manual, a playbook that helps people and communities to learn about RDC and develop better segregation behaviors, was introduced by SM Prime at the most recent Sustainability Expo (SUSTEX 2025).

Small steps, big impact

In the Philippines, the country generates up to 61,000 tons of waste daily and an annual 2.7 million tons of plastic waste. A figure that will rise with urbanization and poor waste disposal practices.

Inspired by the SM Green Movement’s strong call to action to make sustainability part of everyday life, SM Waste Free Future invites everyone to become part of the solution.

The three categories, RDC, make sorting waste an empowering exercise by focusing on the word “able” meaning having the power, skill, or the opportunity “to do”.  The manual’s easy, practical, and inspiring read hopes to encourage readers to do just that –championing segregation systems and proper waste disposal.

It also features innovative reuse programs of SM Prime’s business units that keep materials in circulation and out of landfills. When done at scale, each contribution can inspire others to follow, creating a ripple effect.

Learn, practice, champion

Done with great reflection during its incubation stages, SM Waste Free Future presented a rethink of waste segregation habits and systems built over time.

We have to be open to new ways of doing things and of putting into action every little step that’s crucial for advancing waste management solutions,” said SM Engineering Design and Development President Hans “Chico” Sy, during the 2024 World Environment Day program launch.

Today, the campaign is deeply encouraged by institutions and agencies that strongly advocate developmental goals.

In his message of support, Dr. Selva Ramachandran, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), lauded the RDC bin labeling system. “Proper waste segregation is an entry point toward a circular economy – one that goes beyond waste management to design out waste, keep materials in circulation, and regenerate natural systems.”

Together for a waste-free future, SM Prime sustainability champions at the Ignite Stage during SUSTEX 2025.

All together now

Together, we are stronger than we realize. “This project is not specific to one organization, but one that belongs to an entire society. We welcome everyone to practice this in their everyday lives,” Sy said.

In order to overcome a mounting problem, everyone must work together. SM Prime is adamant that we can build a waste-free, sustainable future by working together.

“A waste-free future requires shared action from government, business, and communities. May this manual be a catalyst for deeper collaboration, innovation, and circular solutions that support national priorities and the global Sustainable Development Agenda – building systems across sectors that prevent waste, recover valuable resources, and protect our environment for generations to come,” said Dr. Ramachandran.
