Teenage Mixed Martial Arts Prodigy Victoria Lee Signs with ONE Championship

Women’s mixed martial arts prodigy Victoria Lee, younger sister of ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee and ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee, has signed with ONE Championship. ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced the news on his official social media accounts.

“I feel extremely excited and motivated to be part of the world’s largest martial arts organization, ONE Championship. Inspired by watching my older brother and sister compete on the biggest global stage of martial arts competition, I am ready to take my career to the next level and compete with the world’s best martial arts athletes. I want to thank my parents for teaching me and guiding me, and for allowing me to chase my dreams. I promise all the fans that I will continue to train hard and develop my skills, and that I’ll be ready when I get the call to step inside the ONE Circle,” said Victoria Lee.

Born into a family of World Champion martial artists, Lee was introduced to martial arts by her parents, who both trained and developed her skills from a young age. Following in the footsteps of sister Angela and brother Christian, Lee is considered one of the top female mixed martial arts prospects in the world.

At just 16 years old, Lee already boasts of a growing list of impressive accolades. This list includes a 2019 IMMAF Junior World Championship, two Pankration Junior World Championships, and a 2019 Hawaii State Wrestling Championship, among others. She is also a 15-time NAGA Expert Champion.

At such a young age, Lee has already accomplished much in her career thus far. But by joining ONE Championship, she enters an organization teeming with the world’s best martial arts talent.

Angela, for one, says Victoria is a better version of herself at her age, and is excited for Victoria to take the world by storm.

“I am so happy for Victoria and extremely proud of her. She is a very gifted and driven young woman. She told us that this is her dream – to be a professional fighter – and as a family, we are going to support her fully. Victoria is a gifted athlete and everyone will be witness to that when she makes her debut. Throughout time, there have been a handful of gifted young Olympians, many years younger than their competitors, but they managed to rise above and shine through with their god-given talent, dedication, and hard work. I have confidence in our Coach, our family and in Victoria that she is ready for this next level of competition,” said Angela Lee.

“Victoria is learning the same things today as me, the 5-time ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion and our brother, the ONE Lightweight World Champion! Mixed martial arts is meant to evolve and we as athletes must adapt and evolve with it. Victoria is a part of this next generation that has been born and raised with MMA as a whole. The transitions are seamless, there are no gaps. She is still learning and improving each day but yes, she is already much better than I was at her age. It also might help that in addition to our father, the Head Coach, she also has a team of sibling World Champions to help teach and guide her in the family trade.”

Victoria will join a stacked women’s atomweight division, where her older sister reigns as the division’s queen. Details on Victoria’s official ONE Championship debut will be announced at a later date.

McDonald’s establish safety protocols in stores, to activate StaySafe App

McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO, Kenneth Yang, supports the IATF-EID’s efforts on contact tracing as McDonald’s stores around the country will be employing the StaySafe app

The spread of coronavirus disease COVID-19 continues to effect lives all over the country, McDonald’s Philippines reinforcing its commitment towards safety by adapting a more innovative means for contact tracing through the use of the StaySafe.PH app in its stores. This is in support of the platform launched and spearheaded by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) and the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19.

StaySafe.PH aims to contain the spread of COVID-19 by encouraging users to actively report their health conditions and symptoms as well as that of their family members. McDonald’s stores will be utilizing the locally-developed app as a safer, more convenient and comprehensive contract tracing tool not just for customers but for its employees, too.

“In these challenging times, McDonald’s Philippines supports government initiatives that allow us to continue serving our customers in our restaurants and in other channels like delivery and drive-thru, safely.For us, nothing is more important than the health and safety of our people and our customers”said McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO Kenneth Yang.

McDonald’s Philippines has been reinforcing its commitment towards safety of people since the announcement of the enhanced community quarantine. Under its M Safe program, the company believes that by keeping its employees safe, they keep their customers safe, too. Each store has a dedicated safety manager to ensure all protocols are followed by employees such as wearing of masks and/or face shields, use of gloves, daily submission of health check forms, temperature checks before and after every shift, and increased hand washing frequency to every 30 minutes, among others. The safety managers also ensure that customers are properly guided on the protocols in the store. McDonald’s also started to offer new convenient ordering modes for customers such as Facebook Messenger to be able to enjoy their favorite meals.

Shortlist of Dream Matchups: Lito Adiwang and Rodtang Jitmuangnon

Lito “Thunder Kid: Adiwang from Team Lakay phenom is a huge fan of ONE Super Series. The former ONE Warrior Series product says he would love to test his mettle against the world’s best striking talents. The fiery Thai warrior is known for his incredible speed and thunderous knockout power, and Adiwang would want nothing more than to turn a fantasy matchup between “Thunder Kid” and “The Iron Man” into reality.

Adiwang’s aggressive and explosive offensive style would no doubt hold up very well against the world’s top Muay Thai fighters and kickboxers. One man on Adiwang’s radar is none other than reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon.

Adiwang says, “I love fantasy matchups. Me against Rodtang shouldn’t just be a fantasy, it should be a reality. I respect Rodtang a lot. I love the way he fights and the energy that he brings into the arena. I really respect him as a true fighter and a real champion.”

Indeed, Rodtang has emerged as one of the most exciting martial arts superstars in Asia, since his debut in the world’s premier striking martial arts league. He’s unbeaten in ONE Super Series action, with eight thrilling victories on his resume.

“His strength is in his powerful strikes. He has powerful kicks and punches, and has that demolition style. He will come forward and put the pressure on his opponent, looking to destroy them with powerful combinations. But I think he has trouble when an opponent is good in countering and keeping the distance. He sometimes has difficulty landing when an opponent is elusive,” said Adiwang.

While “Thunder Kid” is certainly open to the idea of stepping into the ring in ONE Super Series, the Circle standout reaffirms that he is completely focused on his mixed martial arts career at the moment.

However, if the opportunity to face Rodtang would arise, Adiwang would jump all over the chance to stand across one of the men on top of his list of dream matchups.

“If me and Rodtang face each other somewhere down the line, I will do my best to shock the world. I want to prove to the world that even an ordinary boy can do extraordinary things if he just believes in himself, puts in the work, and dedicates himself to achieving his goals. I want that fantasy matchup to become a reality,” said Adiwang.

“My dream is to fight the best of the best and become a champion, and Rodtang is one of the fighters on my shortlist to test myself against. If we fight in Muay Thai, I know it’s going to be a good show. Of course I will do my best to get the victory. “Play Pretend” the third official single of Project Orange

Project Orange, Bacolod-base band captivates listeners with their sophisticated blend of bedroom pop and indie rock on “Play Pretend”—a distinctly laid-back affair that chronicles the growing pains of young love and the unsteady circumstances that define it. Imagined  in less than three years, the band has slowly but surely gained traction outside of Bacolod City’s relatively small but thriving music community. Thanks to their maiden singles “Ctrl + Esc” and “Sputnik Sweetheart,” the promising quartet earned their chunk of streaming listenership on cities such as Taipei, Manila, and Hong Kong—a proof that their brand of music sees no boundaries, and resonates on a universal level.

Formed by vocalist/guitarist Diana “Moose” Mapa, guitarist Ann Marie Pillado, bassist Martin Garces, and drummer Miguel Gabriel San Miguel, Project Orange returns with a distinctly laid-back affair that chronicles the growing pains of young love and the unsteady circumstances that define it. The four-piece outfit employs a lush and dream-like palette in terms of musical approach, fully embracing a deceptively simple arrangement that wouldn’t feel out of place side by side with the breezy pop sensibilities of Clairo and Boy Pablo.

The lead vocalist Diana Mapa shares in a statement, “Too many people get caught up with the immense amount of music elements these days and I try to avoid that. The additional portions like the distorted guitar and synths were suggested by the producers in the studio and it added a stunning perspective to the song.”

Steeped in melancholic pulse, “Play Pretend” provides glimpses of a promising music act informed by the sound of its time, but never allowing trends to envelope the finality and packaging. It’s all heart, less feels: the more you immerse to the song’s intimate revelations, the closer it hits home.

Lyrically, “Play Pretend” demands to be felt. Return Home to the Philippines Before the Year Ends the Filipino Champion, Drex Zamboanga

ONE Championship debut at ONE: A NEW BREED a couple of weeks ago, 31-year-old veteran Drex “T-Rex” Zamboanga is with younger sister Denice, and together, they remain in Bangkok, Thailand to ride out the Covid-19 situation. The Zamboanga siblings traveled to Thailand earlier in the year to train at various Thai gyms. But when national borders closed due to the pandemic, they found themselves marooned in the ‘Land of a Thousand Smiles.’

Nevertheless, Zamboanga says they are doing well now, and that it’s business as usual for them after a successful event. “We’re all doing great here. We’ve had one full week of rest now, and it’s almost time to get back to our daily training routine. Time to get back to work,” said Zamboanga.

Zamboanga reveals that they are currently working on their extended visitor permit in Thailand, so they can continue training, but plan on returning home to the Philippines as soon as border restrictions begin to relax, presumably before the end of the year.

“Right now, we’re working on our long term visas so that in the future, we won’t have any issues going in and out of Thailand. The plan is to go back to the Philippines before December to celebrate Christmas with our family and to continue training with our boxing coach there. We can’t wait to spend time with our family, maybe go on a little vacation,” said Zamboanga.

Every martial arts athlete devotes a level of sacrifice so they can focus on training. For some, it’s giving up their favorite foods in order to make weight. For others, it’s spending time away from their loved ones.

For the Zamboanga’s right now, it’s a combination of everything.

“It has been hard being away from home. But I used that sadness to motivate me to continue training here in Thailand. Me and my sister dream of becoming World Champions. This has fueled our drive to continue working hard. I miss my mom’s cooking, especially paksiw na bangus and nilagang baka. I miss riding my motorcycle. Don’t lose hope. I know that one day we will overcome this. God is in control and I hope our prayers will be answered, and this will all end soon,” said Zamboanga.

While both Drex and Denice have no imminent bout assignments anytime soon, the siblings are staying sharp and ready for any call that might come their way. As a flyweight, Zamboanga is in a deep tank filled with sharks. Nevertheless, he is willing to face any challenge in the Circle, even if that is against a fellow Filipino athlete.

“We don’t have any fights lined up at the moment. But even then, we can’t take our foot off the pedal. We should still be prepared at all times, because that call can come at any time. There are a lot of great talents in the flyweight division, many of them are my fellow Filipino fighters. I don’t see any issues facing my countrymen, it’s natural in combat sports. This is sports entertainment, and our job is to put on a show for the people. It’s a sport, so we go into the Circle to showcase our martial arts skills, simple as that. We can still be friends after,” Zamboanga concluded.

Jollibee Group Continues to Support Frontline Health Workers

In responding to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Jollibee Group continues food donations to Frontliners from its brands to about 300 hospitals around the country in August 2020.Health care workers have received food packs from Jollibee, Greenwich, Chowking, Red Ribbon, and Mang Inasal.

Jollibee Group Foundation Executive Director Gisela Tiongson says, “The Jollibee Group recognizes that our medical frontliners have made tremendous sacrifice in the past months. The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic gets tougher as days go by.Providing them meals to enjoy is a way to refresh their tired bodies and refuel their heroic efforts. We are more than grateful for what they are doing for our countrymen.”

“Sobrang nakakaboost ng morale at nakakataba ng puso na mayroong kompanya na tumutulong sa aming mga frontliners(It really boosts our morale and warms our hearts that there are companies that send support to us frontliners,)” said Melagros Ancheta, a staff at the Veterans Medical Memorial Center who received food packs from Greenwich Pizza.

While according to Dr. Medina Magbitang, “Your donation made us feel that you are one with us in this fight against the pandemic. (We) truly appreciate your sense of generosity to our frontliners.” Dr. Magbitang is the Medical Director of M.S. Magbitang Hospital of San Ildefonso in Bulacan. The hospital received Mang Inasal meals for their frontline staff.

As of August 2020, the Jollibee Group has mobilized a total of P268-million worth of food packs that have benefited some 4.3 million people in communities and served 1.5 million meals to frontline health and checkpoint personnel. Of this, the company donated P227 million, while the additional P41 million came from business partners, other corporate foundations, and the general public through the Jollibee Group FoodAID Coin Bank.

The public can continue to support the Jollibee Group FoodAID Program to help feed more frontliners and families in need. Pongsiri PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym Defeats Sean Clancy by Unanimous Decision in Epic ONE Super Series Battle

ONE Championship™ (ONE), returned with another spectacular evening of world-class martial arts action. Broadcast last Friday night, 11 September, ONE: A NEW BREED II — a previously recorded, closed-door event in Thailand’s capital city of Bangkok — saw the absolute best in local and international martial arts talent take the ONE Championship ring.

In the main event, 4-time Muay Thai World Champion Pongsiri PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym of Thailand turned in a stirring performance, going toe-to-toe with Ireland’s Sean “Clubber” Clancy across three gruelling rounds. Clancy looked to counter Pongsiri’s forward movement with volume output, but the Thai superstar would not be deterred. A sharp left hook from Pongsiri stunned Clancy momentarily, as the Irishman retreated to the corner. In the second round, a slicing right elbow from Pongsiri dropped Clancy to the canvas. But “Clubber” showed incredible heart, beating the 10-count, and making his way back up to his feet. In the third and final round, the two men went to war in the phonebooth, with neither wanting to take a step backward. In the end, all three judges scored the bout in favor of Pongsiri to win by unanimous decision.

In a ONE Super Series kickboxing bout, 2-time Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion “The Kicking Machine” Superlek Kiatmoo9 of Thailand overcame a tough challenge from opponent Fahdi “The Gladiator” Khaled, just edging out the Tunisian on the scorecards after three rounds. The first round started out with furious exchanges at the center of the ring. Khaled connected on a wild left hook that stunned Superlek momentarily. In the second round, Superlek continued his kicking onslaught, as Khaled opted to box and counter. In the final round, Superlek did just enough to sway the result in his favor, punishing Khaled consistently with his piston-like kicks. In the end, all three judges scored the bout in favor of Superlek to win by unanimous decision.

In a ONE Super Series Muay Thai contest, PBA Thailand Champion Supergirl Jaroonsak Muaythai put together a rousing performance, stopping Milagros Lopez of Argentina in the first round of her promotional debut. Supergirl opened up the action with a fast and powerful straight right hand down the middle, stunning Lopez slightly. As the two women proceeded to trade strikes at the center of the ring, Supergirl connected on another right hand to drop Lopez, who was able to get back up albeit on unsteady footing. Back on the feet, Supergirl ended matters with yet another straight right hand, sending Lopez to the canvas for good.

Australian Brogan “Broken Heart” Stewart-Ng showcased his superior grappling skills, as he finished opponent, 2018 One Shin Cup Champion Prach “SuperBest” Buapa of Thailand in the first round. Buapa began the match aggressively, connecting on a handful of combinations from range. Once Stewart-Ng was able to close the distance, however, the Australian easily took matters to the ground via bodylock. “Broken Heart” swiftly transitioned to his opponent’s back and locked in the deep rear-naked choke to force the tap.

“Merciless” Abu Muslim Alikhanov of Russia made a successful ONE Championship debut, dominating opponent Pascal “Money P” Jaskiewiez of France across two rounds to score a submission victory. Alikhanov wasted no time in taking matters to the ground at the sound of the opening bell, using his wrestling to score a plethora of takedowns. In the second round, a scramble led to the bout-ending leg lock, and Jaskiewiez was forced to tap.

Kicking off the action at ONE: A NEW BREED II, MFC Lightweight Tournament Champion “SuperBenz” Witchayakorn Niamthanom of Thailand delivered an inspiring performance, finishing Moroccan Kickboxing National Champion Khalid “Monster” Friggini inside the first round. After trading strikes briefly at the center of the ONE Championship ring, Witchayakorn scored a successful takedown. On the mat, the Thai athlete worked to secure a deep rear-naked choke, forcing the tap.

ONE Championship returns to Bangkok with the previously recorded event, ONE: A NEW BREED III, set for broadcast on Friday, 18 September. Check local listings for times. In the main event, ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy of Thailand defends his title against Lion Fight World Champion Magnus “Crazy Viking” Andersson of Sweden. Also making an appearance is Thai women’s martial arts pioneer, Rika “Tiny Doll” Ishige, who takes on atomweight prospect Sunisa “Thunderstorm” Srisen.

Bruce Springsteen with E Street set to release new rock album, “Letter To You”

The rock legend’s upcoming album features E Street Band

Bruce Springsteen, the rock legend will release new album “Letter to You” and recorded live in his New Jersey home studio with the E Street Band on October 23, 2020 (Friday) via Columbia Records. Fueled by the band’s heart-stopping, house-rocking signature sound, the 12-track Letter To You is Springsteen’s 20th studio album.

Springsteen said, “I love the emotional nature of ‘Letter To You’. And I love the sound of the E Street Band playing completely live in the studio, in a way we’ve never done before, and with no overdubs. We made the album in only five days, and it turned out to be one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had.”

Letter to You includes nine recently written Springsteen songs, as well as new recordings of three of his legendary, but previously unreleased compositions from the 1970s: “Janey Needs a Shooter,” “If I Was the Priest,” and “Song for Orphans.”

Springsteen is joined on Letter To You by Roy Bittan, Nils Lofgren, Patti Scialfa, Garry Tallent, Stevie Van Zandt, Max Weinberg, Charlie Giordano and Jake Clemons. The album was produced by Ron Aniello with Bruce Springsteen, mixed by Bob Clearmountain and mastered by Bob Ludwig. Letter To You is Springsteen’s first time performing with the E Street Band since The River 2016 tour, which was named the year’s top global tour by both Billboard and Pollstar.

Bruce Springsteen’s recording career spans over 40 years, beginning with 1973’s ‘Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ’ (Columbia Records). He has garnered 20 Grammys, won an Oscar and a Tony, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received a Kennedy Center Honor and was MusiCares’ 2013 Person of the Year. Springsteen’s memoir ‘Born to Run’ (Simon & Schuster) and its companion album ‘Chapter and Verse’ were released in September 2016, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in November 2016. His historic 236-show run of ‘Springsteen on Broadway’ at Jujamcyn’s Walter Kerr Theatre from October 2017 to December 2018 also yielded an accompanying soundtrack album and Netflix special. In 2019, Springsteen released ‘Western Stars,’ his first studio album in five years, and together with longtime collaborator Thom Zimny he co-directed ‘Western Stars,’ a feature film released through Warner Bros.
