Oreo, Cadbury, Eden, Cheez Whiz, Tang, and Toblerone are just a few of the companies whose products have changed Filipinos’ regular munching. With its objective of offering the right snack, at the right time, and made properly, Mondelez Philippines has been a pioneer in the country’s snacking industry for many years, and this year is no different. As we went to the event, we were so glad to be part of their special occasion as we witnessed a lot of spectacular activities they prepared for this milestone. I’m also grateful since I’m such a fan of these go-to snacks especially everytime im craving something sweet or delicious. Their product is indeed so tasteful and has been a partner for many people for a very long time now and it is my favorite.

At the event

This dedication to shaping the future of snacking has led to the company’s biggest achievement to date: 60 years of encouraging healthy snacking habits among Filipinos. The company’s 8-hectare manufacturing and retail site in Paranaque City, where it has called home since July 31, 1963, is the hub of its snacking operations.

The 60th year that Mondelez Philippines has called the City of Paranaque home is therefore more significant than the fact that 2023 marks the company’s anniversary in the Philippines. Some of the Philippines’ favorite snacks have been distributed all over the nation thanks to this historic production plant and home office along Dr. Arcadio Santos Avenue.

Ms Aleli Arcilla

“We extend our gratitude to the City of Parañaque for being our home all these many years,” said Mondelez Philippines Vice President Aleli Arcilla. “We have benefitted from the support that the City has provided us, and in turn we have done our utmost to be a responsible corporate citizen.”

Aside from being one of the City’s top taxpayers for many years running, a part of the Company’s sixty-year-old heritage is Mondelez Philippine’s various advocacies.

In recent years, the Company – along with the Parañaque City Government – have embarked on several advocacy campaigns on health like the Company’s 11-year long Joy Schools feeding program that’s fed thousands of the City’s students; the donation of more than 2,000 doses of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines to the Paranaque Local Government Unit (LGU) during the pandemic; and Mondelez Philippines’ recent collaboration with the City Health Office to provide a learning session for Barangay Health Workers on its Mindful Snacking advocacy – led by speakers from the Nutritionist-Dietitians Association of the Philippines (NDAP).

The Company has also committed its efforts to advancing its environmental sustainability advocacy by collaborating with the City to construct a plastic recycling plant that seeks to lessen the quantity of plastic that winds up in the environment. In addition, the Company, in collaboration with the City’s Special Services Office, painted the crosswalk in front of its complex in rainbow hues as a gesture of support for the LGBTQIA+ community during Pride Month.

This is why the government of Paranaque City recently granted Mondelez Philippines a symbolic “Key to the City,” in an effort to show its appreciation for the company’s services to the residents of Paranaque City.

Mayor Eric Olivarez

“With all these milestones and accomplishments, we express our appreciation and gratitude to Mondelez Philippines for all the collaborative efforts and unwavering support to Parañaque City,” said Mayor Eric Olivarez, who personally awarded the symbolic key during a ceremony held on August 7, 2023, in Parañaque. “Today’s event is a celebration of the Company’s values of strong leadership, commitment to serve the community, and sense of volunteerism for the last 60 years. We look forward to more years of success to come between our institutions.”
