With a state-of-the-art trash boat, SM Prime and DENR support cleanup activities in Manila Bay

The 30-foot catamaran is designed to efficiently collect and carry up to 1 ton of waste.

To support the continued fight against water pollution, SM Prime Holdings (SM Prime) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) were present to give over a cutting-edge catamaran trash boat for Manila Bay. The boat, along with necessary safety and navigational gear and cleaning supplies, was delivered to DENR on January 31st. The DENR Metropolitan Environmental Office-South Zone will run the 30-foot catamaran, which will help the agency fight water pollution and protect the important maritime habitat.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-
Loyzaga (middle) receives the symbolic key to a catamaran donated by SM Prime, boosting Manila Bay cleanup efforts.

This contribution adds to the DENR’s arsenal of tools for cleaning Manila Bay. The catamaran will facilitate the more effective collection of rubbish and floating debris, supporting the larger endeavor to restore the biological health of the bay and enhance water quality. The work with SM Prime serves as an excellent example of how well public-private partnerships may address intricate environmental issues.

“This catamaran represents our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and our belief in the power of collaboration to create a sustainable future for our communities,” said SM Supermalls Vice President Engr. Liza Silerio, emphasizing the shared vision of both organizations. SM Prime’s contribution complements the DENR’s ongoing initiatives, including the Paranaque Adopt-a-River project, and underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving lasting environmental improvements.

Yulo-Loyzaga, and SM Prime Estate Management and Development Senior Assistant Vice President Orliber Paule at the catamaran handover ceremony.

The agency’s dedication to using partnerships to further its environmental objectives was underscored by the attendance of DENR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga and other DENR officials. The DENR’s ongoing efforts to keep Manila Bay clean and safeguard its priceless resources for coming generations would be greatly aided by the catamaran. This partnership is an example of how the public and private sectors may cooperate to solve urgent environmental issues and make the environment healthier.

Better Systems Are Needed by Filipino Businesses—Salig AI is Helping Them With Automation

(From left to right): Atty. Dave Patacsil, Marjorie Aviso, Mark Barilea, Jay-cee Tan, and Sherwin Alegre, the brilliant minds behind Salig AI CRM, enjoying a lighthearted moment as they gear up to empower Filipino businesses through automation.

(Founders: Sherwin Alegre – Co-Founder of Salig AI, CEO & Co-Founder of MicroSource Inc.; Mark Barilea – Co-Founder of Salig AI; Atty. Jerwin Dave Patacsil – Co-Founder of Salig AI, Co-Founder and CFO of Apeiron; Marjorie Aviso – Co-Founder of Salig AI, Founder and CEO of Telework PH; Cece Tan – Co-Founder of Salig AI, CEO and Founder at Highlevelrage, Founder at HL Accelerator)

Businesses are becoming more competitive, scalable, and efficient as a result of AI automation, which is revolutionizing industries globally. While multinational corporations use technology to increase efficiency and optimize processes, many Filipino business owners continue to lag behind due to manual, disjointed systems.

The majority of business owners handle several platforms for scheduling, customer administration, payments, and invoicing in order to maintain operations. They become bogged down in routine administrative work rather than concentrating on development. Although automation is supposed to make things easier, many of the technologies that are currently available are either too costly, too complicated, or not designed with Filipino businesses’ specific needs in mind. Many Philippine businesses struggle with inefficiencies that cost them time, money, and prospects as the rest of the globe advances.

The event was truly an eye-opener, making me more aware of the modern world and the transformative role of AI tools. I gained valuable insights into how AI can enhance business industries and simplify our daily lives. I firmly believe that success comes from finding the right tools and people to support our journey, and Salig AI is undoubtedly a great choice.

Recognizing this gap, a team of Filipino entrepreneurs built Salig AI CRM—an all-in-one platform designed specifically for Filipino freelancers, agency owners, and SMEs. Unlike most automation tools that require costly integrations or complex payment gateways, Salig AI CRM seamlessly integrates client management, invoicing, workflow automation, scheduling, and payments. By using AI-driven automation, it eliminates manual processes and allows business owners to focus on what truly matters—growing their business.

Salig AI CRM is designed to drive efficiency, optimize workflows, and deliver seamless, output-driven results. It simplifies operations by automating repetitive tasks, ensuring smooth transactions, and creating a more structured way for businesses to manage clients and payments. Entrepreneurs no longer have to juggle multiple disconnected platforms. With one unified system, they can work smarter, faster, and more cost-effectively.

Behind this innovation is a team of industry experts who saw firsthand the struggles of Filipino businesses and took action. Leading the platform’s development is Sherwin Alegre, CEO and Co-Founder of MicroSource Inc., the tech architect ensuring smooth and efficient automation. Jay-cee Tan, CEO and Founder of HighLevelRage and Founder of HL Accelerator, is the mastermind behind the vision, mapping out how Salig AI CRM bridges the automation gap for Filipino businesses. Mark Barilea, the finance expert, ensures sustainability and scalability while keeping the platform accessible and affordable. Marjorie Aviso, Founder and CEO of Telework PH, is the power connector, expanding Salig AI’s reach and impact to benefit more Filipinos. Atty. Dave Patacsil, Co-Founder and CFO of Apeiron, serves as the legal backbone, guaranteeing compliance, security, and trust within the platform.

“For too long, Filipino entrepreneurs have been overlooked—treated as just anothernumber in a system that doesn’t work for them. If you don’t want to be just anothernumber, it’s time to level up,” says Jay-cee Tan, one of the founders of Salig AI.

Salig AI CRM isn’t just about technology—it’s about empowerment. It’s about breaking barriers and making sure no Filipino is left behind in the automation revolution. “The strongest Filipinos aren’t those who made it to the top alone. They’re the ones who reached back, extended their hand, and said, ‘Tara, sabay tayo!'” Tan adds. “Because when you share opportunities with your kababayan, you’re not losing your piece of the pie – you’re building a bigger kitchen. That’s how we rise as one.”

The message is unmistakable: AI automation should benefit all Filipinos attempting to launch and expand their businesses, not only large firms. Salig AI CRM aims to provide Filipino business owners with the resources they need to succeed in a world that won’t wait for them to catch up, not to replace humans with AI.

The revolution in automation has arrived. Will Filipino business owners participate in it?

Encouraging Sustainable Communities: SM Cares Collaborates with the Global Peace Foundation

A united commitment for brighter communities!  Jocelyn Remigio, Program Director for Community Development of Global Peace Foundation, Leonard Faustino, Executive Director of Global Peace Foundation Philippines, together with Joaquin San Agustin, Executive Vice President for Marketing and Engr. Junias Eusebio, Vice President for Mall Operations of SM Supermalls, join hands to formalize the partnership for the All Lights Village project. This collaboration brings sustainable energy solutions and community empowerment to underserved areas, illuminating lives one village at a time.

The Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Philippines and SM Cares, SM Supermalls’ corporate social responsibility division, have partnered to assist the ground-breaking All Lights Village project. The signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the SM Prime Headquarters on February 14, 2025, strengthened this collaboration and represented yet another important advancement in empowering marginalized groups in off-grid areas and advancing sustainable development.

The All Lights Village project, led by GPF Philippines, is a creative endeavor aimed at enhancing the standard of living for households without access to electricity in rural areas. The program is promoting clean energy solutions and sustainable growth while giving these communities better futures by offering solar illumination, educational materials, and livelihood chances.

A Shared Commitment to Uplifting Communities

As part of this collaboration, SM Cares will supply locations for fundraising kiosks devoted to the All Lights Village project in SM Aura, SM Megamall, and SM Mall of Asia. More households will be able to take advantage of solar illumination, improved education, and sustainable livelihoods thanks to the money raised from these booths.

During the MOA signing, Joaquin San Agustin, Executive Vice President for Marketing of SM Supermalls, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. “SM Cares is proud to support the All Lights Village project and its mission of empowering communities through sustainable development. By providing these families with clean energy and opportunities, we are not just lighting homes but also paving the way for brighter, more hopeful futures.”

Leonard Faustino, Executive Director of GPF Philippines, shared similar sentiments. “This partnership with SM Cares reflects a shared vision of creating lasting change in communities that need it the most. Together, we are proving that even the smallest actions, like providing light, can spark transformative impact.”

Impacting Lives Through Clean Energy and Sustainability
The All Lights Village initiative has already made a significant difference in rural areas by reducing reliance on harmful kerosene lamps and offering children a safe and well-lit environment for studying. This partnership will enable even more families to access these benefits, creating ripple effects of progress across communities.

The fundraising booths at SM malls will serve as a platform for shoppers to participate in this cause, ensuring that the public becomes an integral part of this life-changing initiative. More details about the booth locations and schedules will be announced soon, inviting everyone to contribute to a brighter tomorrow.

Looking Forward: Building a Better Future Together
This partnership underscores SM Cares’ continued commitment to empowering communities and supporting impactful initiatives that improve lives.
