SM Grows ‘Green Recycling Machine’ Network to Strengthen Nationwide Recycling Efforts

What if that used plastic bottle could be turned into something more meaningful? With the right machine, it can!

Through the SM Green Movement, SM Cares has teamed up with recycling technology company Sparklo to install SM Green Recycling Machines in 30 SM Supermalls nationwide. With these machines now available across SM’s mall network, proper waste disposal is made more convenient, interactive, and rewarding for shoppers.

The reverse vending machines allow mallgoers to deposit eligible plastic bottles and receive rewards in return. By turning everyday mall visits into opportunities for responsible waste management and proper segregation, the partnership supports the SM Green Movement’s goal of keeping waste out of landfills and maximizing resources through recycling.

SM Green Recycling Machines are now available in key locations across Metro Manila, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Baguio, Pangasinan, La Union, Rizal, and Cebu.

Each plastic bottle placed in the machines represents more than properly managed waste. It is a small but meaningful choice that helps keep recyclable materials in circulation, supports responsible consumption, and brings communities closer to an SM Waste-Free Future.

The partnership forms part of the SM Cares Environmental Sustainability Program under its Waste Management Pillar. It complements SM’s existing circular economy and waste management efforts, including the Trash to Cash Program and the Plastic Waste Collection Program.

Through initiatives like these, SM Cares aims to make sustainable living more accessible and easier to put into practice. Instead of expecting people to make major changes overnight, the SM Green Recycling Machines highlight how simple everyday actions by families, students, young people, and communities can add up to create a meaningful and lasting impact on the environment.

With Sparklo’s technology and SM Supermalls’ nationwide reach, recycling becomes more than just a responsibility—it becomes an easy and rewarding habit that Filipinos can embrace every day, one plastic bottle and one eco-friendly choice at a time.
