‘Eraserheads: Combo On The Run’ Director Takes Home Best International Director Award in New York

Director Maria Diane Ventura is recognized for bringing the story of the iconic Filipino band to an international audience

Eraserheads: Combo On The Run, the acclaimed documentary exploring the legacy of iconic Filipino band Eraserheads, has added another international accolade to its record. Director Maria Diane Ventura was named Best International Director Award at the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) Music Documentary Film Festival in New York.

The award followed the film’s screening at the annual LIMEHOF Music Documentary Film Festival on September 27, 2026. The screening was followed by a special discussion with Ventura and Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia, giving audiences an opportunity to hear more about the film and the band’s enduring cultural impact.

Ventura said the recognition holds special significance as Combo On The Run captures a defining chapter in Philippine pop culture—one that she believes deserves to reach and connect with audiences around the world.

“Every recognition Combo on the Run receives still feels a little surreal to me. We made a film that is deeply rooted in our culture, our music and our collective experience as Filipinos, so to watch it continue to travel and connect with audiences outside of home is incredibly meaningful,” Ventura said. “More than the award itself, I’m grateful that the film continues to create space for our stories and our artists on an international stage. I’ve always believed in the power and brilliance of Filipino talent. If Combo on the Run can contribute even a little to bringing more attention to that, then every difficult decision, sleepless night and challenge it took to make this film has been worth it.”

The latest award adds to Combo On The Run’s growing collection of international recognitions. After its successful theatrical release in the Philippines and screenings in other countries, the documentary continues to bring the Eraserheads’ story to audiences worldwide, driven by its relatable and universal narrative.

Produced by DVent Productions, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to bring Filipino music, film, and entertainment to international audiences. DVent has also expanded its work into major live entertainment projects, including the co-production of the Ely Buendia and Chito Miranda concert in Dubai alongside Live Nation and Tiana. The August 30, 2026 show attracted a sold-out audience at Coca-Cola Arena.
