‘Satellite’ by Khalid has a futuristic music video

Khalid, a multi-platinum-selling international sensation, releases “Satellite,” a new song, and a music video through Right Hand Music Group/RCA Records. The dynamic pop sound, driven by Khalid’s lyrical lyrics, comes to life in the glistening, futuristic video, which was shot by Levi Turner.

 “Satellite is a visual portrait of my growth as a human being & the self-love journey I have experienced in my life,” said Khalid.

The video sees Khalid embracing a futuristic world, being one with the planets and other incredible advancements.

At the MTV Video Music Awards last month, Khalid and Marshmello performed their most recent track, “Numb.” The two artists have worked together again after their 6x platinum blockbuster single “SILENCE,” “Numb.” Khalid released the ethereal song “Skyline” earlier this year, coupled with a vibrant music video.

San Miguel Beermen Victory Party is held by BingoPlus

The Philippine Cup Victory Party of PBA champions, the San Miguel Beermen, was sponsored and presented by BingoPlus, the official bingo partner of the 47th season of the PBA, on September 5 at Robinsons Galleria. There were ardent PBA and SMB supporters at the occasion. Leo Austria, the head coach of the SMB, Gelacio “Gee” Abanilla, the team manager of the SMB, the BingGirls, BingoPlus’ official dancers, and BingBing, the company’s mascot, all attended. During the victory party, 100 fortunate fans got to interact and dance with the San Miguel Beermen.

“BingoPlus’ main objective is to give entertainment and happiness to Filipinos, which perfectly aligns with that of the PBA,” said Jasper Vicencio.

As part of Enchanted Kingdom and DTI’s efforts to promote our local entrepreneurs and their goods, the hub will feature well-known Laguna delicacies. In addition to the culinary items being sold in the Jungle Outpost Zone (next to the Jungle Log Jam ride), the Cultural Village zone’s Pugad Shop also sells locally made bags and accessories, coffee and tea gift packs, and coffee and tea gift sets. With the disco-pop smash “WYAT,” P-Pop leaders SB19 solidify their position as a rising powerhouse on the world stage

SB19, a five-piece boy band from the Philippines, soars even higher as their current hit “WYAT”   continues to gain popularity both domestically and overseas.

In less than a week, the disco-pop track has peaked at No. 1 on iTunes Chart in several countries and territories, including the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Qatar, and UAE. It has also charted in 9 countries outside the country: No. 2 in Bahrain and Antigua & Barbuda, No. 4 in Saudi Arabia, No. 8 in New Zealand, No. 20 in Canada and Cambodia, No. 54 in Azerbaijan, No. 55 in Malaysia, No. 70 in the US, and No. 74 worldwide.

The retro-modern tune, which documents the hitmaking quintet’s efforts to reconnect after a tumultuous phase in their personal lives, further cements their status as a global powerhouse. In a recent article by Billboard Magazine, SB19 gained acclaim for their vision to “push the country’s current pop renaissance” to a bigger, broader level. Pop culture critic Jeff Benjamin writes, “With its wider pop ambitions thanks to an undeniable chorus and multiple visual access points thanks to the video and styling, WYAT (Where You At) puts SB19 in the best position to grasp the international spotlight.”

To date, “WYAT” has amassed more than a million views on YouTube in less than 3 days, trending as high as No. 4 on the platform upon its release. Over at Twitter, the song has trended at No. 1 on Trending Topics Philippines, and No. 2 Worldwide, maintaining its impressive stats for days.

Lead rapper and sub-vocalist Josh credits the success of the envelope-pushing single to A’TIN—the fandom responsible for ensuring their mercurial rise to commercial prominence. “We’re very thankful and overwhelmed, especially to our A’TIN. We didn’t expect it to top in various charts not only in the Philippines, but different parts of the world. This was truly unexpected as we haven’t been around for a while. Hopefully, this release isn’t the only one that will turn out successful, but the tour as well.”

To further promote the beginning of their new music era via “WYAT,” the P-Pop phenoms are set to embark on their biggest local and international tour to date. WYAT [Where You At] Tour kicks off on their sold-show concert at Araneta Coliseum on September 17, 2022, to be followed by a series of shows in Clark, Cebu, Davao and more. In the following months, the tour extends globally as SB19 heads to multiple countries – US, UAE, and Singapore to name a few. International A’TIN can expect SB19 to drop by their city starting October 2022.

When asked about what to expect on their upcoming global tour, main vocalist and dancer Stell confirms that music listeners will be seeing a different SB19 this time around. “The same passion is there, the same dedication is there, but we’re just going to give more for this tour. Like we usually do, we try to level up and improve every time.”

Justin, a sub vocalist and the creative director of WYAT, stressed the rigor of their preparations for raising the bar in terms of quality. “This is the first time that dancing and voice teachers have assisted us in getting ready for a concert. As “Your Song of Excellence” Season 2 moves into the semifinals, tougher competition is evident

The goal of becoming the next overall champion of the virtual singing competition “Your Song of Excellence” Season 2 becomes closer after weeks of selecting from among hundreds of contestants who will advance to the next stage.

However, the “Your Song of Excellence” Season 2 semi-finals stage is no picnic, so anticipate the competition’s semifinal round to get harder and tougher as the judges select the best among the best. As they compete to advance to the competition’s pinnacle—the Grand Finals—the grind-out semifinals will undoubtedly bring out the best in each hopeful.

But first, whether they are in the Ballad, Acoustic, or Rock categories, they must go past the semifinal round.

So just how tough is the semi-final stage of “Your Song of Excellence” Season 2? Only the Top 3 singers out of the Top 10 semi-finalists in each category will move on to compete during the Grand Finals.

For the semi-finals, the tough criteria for judging is 60 percent of total judges’ scores, with 40 percent coming from online voting.

The #HeartsAtHome semi-finals episode will premiere on September 11, 2022, and the deadline for voting will be on September 16, 2022. The names of the grand finalists for the Ballad category will be announced on September 20, 2022.

This will be followed by the #FreshVibes or Acoustic category semi-finals, happening on September 21, 2022, while deadline for voting is on September 26, 2022. The names of the Top 3 grand finalists will be announced on September 30, 2022.

Finally, the #EpicRock or Rock category semi-finals will be shown on October 1, 2022, with deadline for voting on October 6, 2022. Those who will go to the Grand Finals will be known on October 10, 2022.

And then, the much-awaited Grand Finals for “Your Song of Excellence” Season 2 will happen on October 30, 2022. It will be a slam-bang musical fest among the best of Filipino musical talent that everyone should not miss.

A whopping P1,000,000 worth of cash and products combined await winners in all categories, plus, a major recording deal with Ivory Music, one of the biggest independent record labels in the country, to help jumpstart the winners’ recording career.

Voting is easy. Solving family problems in the most excellent way

The Covid-19 pandemic did not spare anyone, in the Philippines or anywhere else in the world. Businesses big or small, tourist destinations, even the small sari-sari store, did not escape the wrath of the deadly virus. Moreso families like the Ekselente family.

The Ekselente family is your typical Filipino brood that struggled mightily during the pandemic. They own a resort, which is both their family home and prime source of income. Since they have no visitors because of the lockdowns and community quarantines, the family business is losing money for lack of income. Worse, the family is considering selling it to be able to survive.

Theirs was an archetypal dilemma that would test their values, and how they would be able to keep the family together in such stressful times was told through the eyes of the family’s helper or “Kasambahay,” Ofelia, who remained loyal and true to the Ekselente family. She shared in their difficulties and heartaches, and even went out of her way to help the family that had been good to her by staying with them, to help them keep themselves together as they go through life’s challenges.

Their story showcased several facets of family life: the emotional struggles of the father, the resolve of the mother whose stabilizing force is tested constantly, and the situation that their son and daughter are in as they suddenly faced an unexpected turn from the life that they were used to before the pandemic, when everything was still sweet and rosy.

The story of the Ekselente family was convincingly brought to life through a six-part series that featured real-life scenarios, coupled with pleasant and rejuvenating—sometimes heart-wrenching—music, as the family went through their daily struggles, a life suddenly turned upside down.

The father, Jojo Ekselente, is a former Overseas Filipino Worker who bought the resort to show that he is capable of giving his wife, who comes from a well-off family, and his children, whom he barely knew him since he was always overseas working, a comfortable life. He returned to the country because of the pandemic but struggled to find a decent job.

Soledad “Sol” Ekselente, the resolute rich kid, struggled in keeping the resort and her family intact, even if she has almost zero experience running a business, let alone a household because she was a unica hija. She is trying to learn to handle things, no doubt, but the hardships kept piling up, like whether to sell the resort or not, and keeping away from her snobbish mother.

David Ekselente, the “chill” guy, is the exact opposite of his sister. The family’s “gamer” seems to lack that competitive fire his sister has, and would rather settle with what he has at the moment than chase the bigger things in life and not be too preoccupied with the family’s problems since he has problems of his own.

Cheska Ekselente, the last member of the Ekselente off-springs, is very much like his father—competitive and go-getter—an ambitious Dean’s Lister in college and an aspiring social media influencer. She is driven by her desire to be fully independent and will stop at nothing to achieve her goals, yet longs for attention from her father whom she feels she doesn’t know much since he was always out of the country working, until now that he became jobless but may soon return for work and may leave again.

Finally, the matriarch, Lola Beatrice (Sol’s mother) is the picture-perfect rendition of an alta sosyedad mother– nosy, sneering, condescending—but can be deemed overprotective since Sol is an only daughter. She makes known her disdain for his son-in-law, rubbing in his incompetence by being a lola who spoils her grandchildren, always giving them what they want just to despise their father.

The six-episode Casa Ekselente story was part of an impressive digital marketing promotion initiative for 2022 presented by Taiwan Excellence, and ably utilized the power of cohesive content to broaden engagement and reach. The story of the Ekselente family is part of a strategy that used organic and creative content in order to generate organic reach and strengthen product and consumer connection for six Taiwan Excellence Award-winning brands such as Juliart, Asus, Acer and FECA during the regular scenes.

For the scenes that involved music, on the other hand, the brands that were seen were Aromase, Annie’s Way, Gigabyte, Johnson Fitness, Tatung and Transcend. And the results for Casa Ekselente were totally impressive and significant, where the six episodes garnered over 900,000 views on Facebook and Instagram. It was, indeed, a successful move by Taiwan Excellence that employed excellent strategies in order to achieve excellence and achievement in digital marketing.

With their brand-new global single “The Ones We Once Loved,” Ben & Ben provide a fresh perspective on forgiveness

 

 

 

With heartfelt songs that connect with listeners on a deep level and more than a billion streams, Ben&Ben continue to make generation-defining statements. They currently have 3.5 million Spotify subscribers. The nine-piece collective, who are regarded as one of the most commercially successful artists in the Southeast Asian region, recently took home the Best Asian Band honor at the 2022 BandLab NME Awards and received numerous accolades for their innovative work on the sophomore album Pebble House, Vol. One is Kuwaderno. In a virtual event with Ben&Ben I was able to acquire new learnings from them and was delighted at how amazing their new song will surely hit the listeners.

The success of 2020’s “Doors” and “Leaves,” a collaboration with Korean singer-songwriter Young K of Day 6, led the Filipino hitmakers to return with another international release. They have an impressive discography and an upcoming North American tour. Their most recent song, “The Ones We Once Loved,” was put out by Sony Music, and it’s a softly shocking confessional that even in its seeming weightlessness sounds emotionally profound. The song, which was written by Paolo Benjamin of Ben&Ben, ascends to a private and intimate space while providing a fresh viewpoint on love, forgiving others, and ending relationships.

 “It’s a song that owns up to one’s faults, makes proper apologies, but also expresses hurt, as breakups are often two-way things,” says the band in an official statement. “It’s also one of the hardest songs we’ve written, because it requires the writer to forgive himself for his past and own up to his faults and mistakes. The painstaking process towards that state, the cycles of anxiety and catharsis that the writer went through, and the eventual expression of all of that in the form of this song, as an encapsulation of such a heavy journey, is what makes this song stand out among our other songs.”

Produced by Johnoy Danao and Jean Paul Verona, the song takes a deceptively stripped-down approach in terms of musicality, but careful not to lose the earnestness that defined their recent hits. According to the folk-pop outfit, they wanted to keep the arrangement as bare and as transparent as possible while still maintaining a certain depth, weight, and storytelling within instrumentation.

“Supporting the vocals is the staple piano sound, as one would hear when being sung the humblest and sincerest of songs, slowly followed by more and more melodic instruments as the singer opens up and exposes vulnerability,” the band explains the sonic motif behind the release. “At the end of the day, we wanted to make an arrangement that would provide no barrier to taking in each meaning of every word of a song that has so much to say.”

Backed by rich but sparsely layered instrumentation, the song, particularly its chorus, captures “what so many of us are often too afraid or unprepared to say after a difficult breakup.” Hoping that listeners would take responsibility in making amends with one’s self, and the person on the other end of the grieving process, the band shares, “We are hoping that this song somehow helps people bridge that gap and feel the importance of really letting go through a multi-faceted forgiveness: one of the other, and of the self.”

“The Ones We Once Loved” serves as Ben&Ben’s official single in support of their Philippine send-off concert and North America/Canada Tour in 2022. It also marks their first collaboration with globally renowned photographer Geloy Concepcion, whose work was recently featured in Vogue Magazine, and other notable publications and exhibits worldwide.

“We’ve always wanted to do a collaboration with Geloy Concepcion as most of the band members look up to him, that when we realized he would be the perfect artist to work with for The Ones We Once Loved, we instantly took a chance and set a meeting up with him,” Ben&Ben shares. “In Geloy’s current project ‘Things You Wanted To Say But Never Did’ we saw how resonant and resemblant his messaging was to The Ones We Once Loved and that he may be the best artist to communicate the song’s message. Geloy’s eye and his way of introducing a space to let out feelings and emotions was one we wanted to emulate in this campaign—a space where people sit safely and quietly with their feelings.”

As part of its Twitter activation campaign promoting the international release of “The Ones We Once Loved,” Ben&Ben urged their fans to use the hashtags #BenandBen #BenandBenTOWOL #TOWOL and #TheOnesWeOnceLoved. The hashtags revealed official Ben&Ben Twitter emojis and unlocked a special preview of the song on August 24, 2022.

8th Brigada EsKwela 2022 is held by Enchanted Kingdom at Macabling Elementary School

Enchanted Kingdom offers their assistance in creating a stimulating and healthy learning atmosphere for pupils once more. Currently in their eighth Brigada EsKwela, EK has adopted the kindergarten classrooms at Macabling Elementary School, which will be turned over on August 22, 2022, following repairs and repainting.

Due to the success of the first Brigada EsKwela, which took place on May 30, 2012, Enchanted Kingdom is continuing to advance in supporting education by sponsoring a school. Through their Adopt-a-School program, the Department of Education (DepEd) and I have produced this exercise together. The emphasis of this year’s theme, “Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral,” is on the value of a secure and hygienic learning environment, particularly in light of the Covid-19 virus.

Through this activity, Enchanted Kingdom aims to share and uphold Eldar the Wizard’s virtues of kindness, humility, patience, honesty, diligence, generosity, and love for God and family, and encourage the students to do the same. Cast members will extend their helping hands in this special activity by bringing Eldar’s magic to the school by transforming the kindergarten classroom into an Enchanting Learning Zone through designing of murals.

The program will begin at 8am followed by activities prepared by the cast members. Students and volunteers will witness a special number from the Enchanted Kingdom Circle of Artists, Boulderville Buddies and EK Royalty – Eldar the Wizard. Turn over ceremony to be led by EK President and CEO, Mr. Mario O. Mamon and will be attended by DepEd City of Sta. Rosa Schools Division Superintendent and other officials.
