Eraserheads: Combo On The Run breaks the record for the widest North American release of a Filipino documentary

Ely Buendia and director-producer Maria Diane Ventura join fans in celebrating a milestone debut

From left to right: Byron Atienza, Creative Director of Live Nation; Hilarion Banks, one of the film editors and DOP; Maria Diane Ventura, filmmaker, writer and executive producer; Ely Buendia; and Winston Emano one of the film producers

After a string of sold-out advance screenings in select cities across the United States and Canada, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run has made history as the Filipino documentary with the widest theatrical rollout in North America.

The award-winning film premiered in over 100 cinemas on April 24, 2026. To mark the occasion, Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia and director-producer Maria Diane Ventura made special appearances in select theaters in California, where they celebrated the film’s growing success with audiences.

Ventura expressed gratitude for the overwhelming reception received by the film in its first few days of release. “It’s incredibly humbling. I feel a deep sense of gratitude to the audiences, to the critics, and to Abramorama for believing in the film and helping bring it to a wider audience.”

She adds, “What’s been most meaningful, though, is the way people have responded on a personal level. I’ve had people come up to me and share that they found a sense of healing in watching it or that it made them feel proud to be Filipino. Hearing that makes all the hard work and exhaustion worth it. That, to me, is the greatest reward.

To see a Filipino story resonate beyond our borders, and to feel that sense of identity and pride reflected back, reminds me why I do this. This film is a love letter to the Filipinos.

And I think it’s arriving at a time when people are searching for connection. We’re living in a period of division, but the film suggests that even then, there is still a way back to each other, through music, art and through storytelling, one of the few things we still all understand regardless of where we come from.”

ElyBuendia and Maria Diane Ventura

Ely Buendia also thanked everyone who supported the film’s debut in North America. “To be embraced by the fans is proof that the film did something right. We didn’t want to let them down because this is their story too. And of course, to have the approval of the critics is icing on the cake. They have different standards and are not as subjective as the fans, so for them to think it was a good film, and a documentary at that, is quite amazing.”

Distributed in North America by Abramorama and produced by DVent Pictures, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run tells the story of the Philippines’ most influential band, tracing their meteoric rise from their formation in UP Diliman to becoming a defining voice of a generation, their painful breakup, and their eventual resurgence years later.

Framed by the Philippines’ evolving socio-political climate, the film places the band’s journey within a nation facing deep political divides, highlighting how their music and story became part of the country’s cultural memory.

Eraserheads: Combo On The Run also earned recognition at a special panel in Austin last month, with Esquire Magazine naming it one of  “The 5 Best Things We Saw at SXSW 2026.”

Eraserheads: Combo On The Run is now screening across North America. For updates, announcements, and ticket details, visit eraserheadsfilm.com.

Rusty Machines’ Iggy San Pablo launches solo music project, simple socks

His debut single “Training Wheels” reflects on distance, identity, and starting over abroad

Iggy San Pablo, best known for his work with Filipino alt-rock band Rusty Machines, returns with simple socks, a solo music project navigating the complexities of adult life and self-discovery through the lens of a migrant. Distinct from San Pablo’s earlier bedroom outing thenils, which represented an exploratory creative phase from his younger years, simple socks is a more assured artistic voice informed by his renewed commitment to storytelling.

“Being an immigrant is a challenge in itself, and that’s an experience I look forward to diving into further as a musician,” shares San Pablo. “Being 34 and having this new solo project, there’s a mixed feeling of a fresh beginning and familiarity all at once. I’m excited to channel that unique energy as I find my footing within the Toronto music scene.”

Now based in Toronto, Canada, San Pablo explores themes of domestic routines, career transitions, and the challenges of making connections in a new environment through simple socks, unlearning some of his habits shaped by the comfort of his upbringing.

On the heels of San Pablo’s new music project is the release of his debut single, “Training Wheels,” an indie rock track that captures the courage of stepping beyond his comfort zone. Written across several years and completed after his relocation to a new, unfamiliar country, the song reflects the emotional weight of distance from family and the determination to build a life independently.

“It was mainly [about] being apart from my family and friends and the anxiety of not knowing when I’ll be seeing them again,” San Pablo explains. “But at the same time, I felt determined to experience a different life far from my safety net. Those were the emotions that I explored while writing Training Wheels. It’s about reassurance, hoping that the special people you left behind back home would eventually be proud of your decisions as an adult.”

Musically, the song leans toward indie rock influences with a sprinkling of Midwest emo sensibilities, citing notable albums such as Death Cab for Cutie’s The Photo Album, Into It. Over It.’s Proper, and susquatch’s In This World as major songwriting inspirations.

“There’s a certain chill that runs through these songs; you can sense that they were written during the winter months. Now that I’m based in Toronto, I understand the feeling on a personal level. It reminds me of Ben Gibbard’s lyrics about finding comfort in the cold, particularly the lines, ‘I don’t mind the weather, I’ve got scarves, and caps, and sweaters…’ I’m living in the same environment, and these records somehow shaped the sound and mood of my latest release.”

Subtle production elements, including sonic references to bicycles, mirror his journey of self-discovery, reinforcing the sense of motion, risk, and progression embedded in the track. San Pablo recounts his fascination with the sound of bike chains and bike bells and his intention to integrate the experience of learning how to ride a bike in his production and arrangement choices.

“I remember sharing an early version of it with a few friends,” San Pablo shares. “It was Howard (Oh, Flamingo!) who pointed out how the song felt like a journey, and I appreciated his feedback because that’s what I wanted to achieve. It was a lot of fun working on this track because I wasn’t overthinking my recording decisions, especially with the guitar parts after the first chorus. I also had to rent a bass guitar from the music store just to record the bass lines and I created a makeshift vocal booth in our bedroom closet just to record my vocals. All of this happened while we were renting a basement unit.”

simple socks’ “Training Wheels” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide.

Ben&Ben’s “Lifetime” claims the No. 1 spot on both the IFPI Official Philippines Chart and the Billboard Philippines Hot 100

The March 31 release of Lifetime (Reimagined) triggers a resurgence in streams for the band’s 2020 hit

The band, alongside the haunting image of longing and what-ifs as articulated in “Lifetime (Reimagined),” the extended version of “Lifetime”

Multi-awarded folk-pop group Ben&Ben continues to break new ground in their career as their 2020 hit “Lifetime” surged to No. 1 on both the IFPI Official Philippines Chart and the Billboard Philippines Hot 100, less than a month after releasing its extended version, Lifetime (Reimagined).

For the chart week of April 10 to 16, “Lifetime” climbed one spot to secure the top position on IFPI’s Official Philippines Chart. The rankings, introduced in February 2025, are part of the Official Southeast Asia Charts—an International Federation of the Phonographic Industry initiative that highlights music across the region, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Meanwhile, on the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 chart for the week of April 25, the song climbed four spots from the previous week’s No. 5 finish, fueled by consistently strong streaming numbers across various platforms. This marks the band’s first ever No. 1 Billboard Philippines chart ranking, and their third time to break into the charts, following Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay in the 2025 Year-End Charts and Kathang Isip in the October 2025 Hot 100 list.

According to the band, they did not expect the song to have this kind of impact on listeners, both the casual ones and those from their Liwanag fan community.

The song’s message resonates among listeners because of the realness of it – articulating deep feelings of longing, of yearning, of loving despite the risks.

“Na-observe din naming may kakaiba talaga sa abilidad ng mga Pilipino na maramdaman ang emosyon na ‘longing,’ o pagkakaroon ng ‘di mamatay na pagkagusto para sa isang tao o bagay na maaaring ‘di maabot. Totoo kasing nae-experience ng marami ‘yung longing. At siguro, patunay ito ng abilidad nating magmahal at magtiis para sa mga mahal natin. Siguro, to love is to endure,” the band related.

Beyond its latest chart-topping milestones, Lifetime (Reimagined) by Ben&Ben also climbed to No. 1 on the YouTube Trending list last week, reached No. 9 on the Spotify Global Daily Viral Chart, secured the top spot on the Spotify Philippines Daily Viral Chart, and landed at No. 2 on both the Spotify Weekly Top 200 and Spotify Daily Top 200 rankings.

Lifetime (Reimagined) is now available here for streaming across all major digital platforms. Fans can also look forward to the upcoming release of its performance video, while the lyric video is already out.

Clara Benin leans into love’s softer moments in 6-track EP, really got me thinking

Her new EP captures the beauty of stillness and emotional duality

Filipino singer-songwriter Clara Benin explores the “inner weather of love” in really got me thinking—her latest EP under Sony Music Entertainment.

Pivoting towards delicate soundscapes and lush arrangements, the 6-track release embraces a quieter form of introspection: the sonic treatment, pared down and intimate, leaning towards newfound openness in both sound and storytelling.

“I’ve learned to sit with simplicity and to trust that not every space needs to be filled, that silence and restraint can carry just as much meaning as sound,” Benin explains. “Because of that, I allowed the words and melodies to breathe more, and I think it creates a more intimate listening experience, like you’re just sitting in the moment with me.”

Benin adds that it’s her first time writing a record entirely dedicated to love from a more optimistic perspective. “Having an EP that’s entirely made up of love songs is something new for me. It feels like a different kind of openness and a big part of my growth as a songwriter.”

According to the Parallel Universe act, the EP draws from the duality of rainy days—both simultaneously heavy and comforting—offering solace and refuge amidst the chaos. Produced by Clara Benin and The Ringmaster, the imagery informs the sonic and lyrical foundations of the record, resulting in a heartwarming collection of tunes that doubles as bedroom confessions.

In terms of songwriting, really got me thinking unravels distinctly as an honest reflection of personal growth and creative ingenuousness. Her emotional honesty is matched by intricate sound design, one whose deliberate restraint invites listeners into a shared space of stillness, where words and melodies are given room to breathe.

“I tried to let the songs hold both feelings at once, the same way they exist in real life,” Clara admits. “Some moments feel warm and grounded, while others carry a bit more tension or movement. I didn’t feel the need to resolve that contrast and just to let it exist honestly, because love rarely feels like just one thing.”

The focus track, “wings” encapsulates the recurring theme of the EP, where love is considered both grounding and liberating. Through dynamic shifts in arrangement and vocal delivery, the song evokes the feelings of being simultaneously held and set free: a study in contrast, but one that coexists in peace. “It’s about finding someone who makes you feel safe enough to dream bigger, someone who reminds you of who you can become. So wings became a metaphor for that—for becoming, for growth, and for finally allowing yourself to fly.”

Accompanying the release is an upcoming live show that aims to translate the introspective essence of the EP into an immersive experience. Designed to reflect the record’s emotional landscape, the performance will feature warm, dreamlike visuals and a carefully curated setlist centered on the EP’s six tracks, interwoven with select earlier works.

Clara adds, “We’re expanding them just enough to fill the room without losing their intimacy. My live performances are usually more backing track-heavy, but for this show we’re stripping things down and leaning into more live instrumentation—adding piano, bass, and live backing vocals to keep everything feeling organic. It still feels very personal, just with a bit more warmth and presence.”

Tracklist:

  1. hmmm
  2. the one to blame
  3. tahanan
  4. cinnamon coffee
  5. wings  (Focus Track)
  6. you around

Clara Benin’s new EP, ‘really got me thinking’ is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

Catch the ‘really got me thinking’ EP live show, happening on May 16, 2026, at Teatrino, Greenhills with special guests The Ridleys. Tickets are available via Ticketmelon.

Orange & Lemons is set to drop their new track “Too Young To Be Old” and has also unveiled plans for their 2026 European tour

A deeply personal single leads the band into a new chapter marked by international performances

The iconic Filipino indie pop band Orange & Lemons is making a comeback with their upcoming single  “Too Young To Be Old,” while also revealing plans for a European tour scheduled for May to June 2026.

[PRE-SAVE HERE]

The song delves into the nuances of transition and self-awareness, portraying what Clem Castro describes as “that strange middle space where you’re no longer reckless, but not quite settled either.”

With the Orange & Lemons

Attending their press conference, I saw how Orange & Lemons are embracing a creative shift, moving from their usual ‘50s-inspired sound toward a more ‘60s vibe with their new single “Too Young To Be Old.” It felt like a reflection of their theme—growth and transition—both in their music and identity as a band. Hearing Clem Castro describe that “in-between” phase made the new direction feel more personal and intentional.

“Lyrically, it plays like a quiet conversation with your younger self,” Castro explains. “The verses reflect doubt and self-awareness, while the chorus opens up into something more universal: the idea that age isn’t just a number, it’s a perspective you sometimes resist. It’s not a sad song, but it carries a gentle ache.”

According to the band’s principal songwriter-producer, “Too Young To Be Old” was inspired by a relationship that made him more aware of time: how differently two people can experience it, even when they’re in the same moment. “The song came from trying to understand that space and finding something beautiful in it.”

Produced by Castro at his hybrid studio, LILYPOD AUDIO, the track balances analog warmth with modern precision. It also serves as O&L’s first release mixed in Dolby Atmos, which is a surround sound technology that creates an immersive sonic experience.

As Clem puts it, the latest release leans toward gentler textures, tighter songwriting, and arrangements that “let the emotions breathe.” It’s classic in spirit, but contemporary in how it’s framed.

“This track sits right at the heart of where we’re headed. There’s still that 60s/70s melodic sensibility we naturally gravitate toward, but it’s more refined now—less about imitation, more about interpretation.”

The new release also serves as a teaser of what’s to come for their forthcoming new album, VISIONS OF AMBER, which the band promises to be a more cohesive, all-English body of work that hopefully connects beyond borders while retaining the essence of their signature sound.

In tandem with the release, Orange & Lemons are set to embark on a European tour, with stops in major cities, including Dublin, London, Milan, Madrid, Paris, and Amsterdam.

The Hanggang Kailan hitmakers also expressed excitement in performing abroad, particularly for the Filipino community in the region, as well as new listeners from varying backgrounds and ethnicities.

“What excites us most is the contrast: You’re playing for people who may be hearing us for the first time, alongside Filipino communities who’ve carried the music with them wherever they are,” Castro shares. “There’s something special about that mix. For Filipinos abroad, the songs become a connection to home. For new listeners, it’s a fresh introduction. That shared space—where familiarity and discovery meet—is what we’re really looking forward to.”

When it comes to the setlist, Orange & Lemons shared that it will strike a balance between their “essential” fan-favorite tracks and newer material like “Too Young To Be Old,” which signals a fresh direction in both sound and artistic discipline.

“We also paid attention to pacing, making sure the set moves naturally, with moments to lift the energy and moments to bring it back down. It’s designed to work even if it’s your first time seeing us live.”

Here’s the current run for the Europe tour:

  • May 14– Dublin, Ireland – The Academy
  • May 16– London, England – Dingwalls
  • May 17– Birmingham, England – Hare & Hounds
  • May 18– Liverpool, England – Cavern Club

  • May 23– Milan, Italy – Alcatraz

B19 expands global reach with BE:FIRST collaboration “TOYFRIEND”

The powerhouse team-up made a significant breakthrough in Japan, landing a No. 2 peak on the Oricon Digital Chart and iTunes All Genre Chart

Global P-Pop powerhouse SB19 continues its global ascent with “TOYFRIEND,” a cross-border collaboration with top-selling Japanese group, BE:FIRST. The clubby R&B track serves as the latest single from their sophomore studio album, Wakas At Simula—released under Sony Music Entertainment.

Prior to the promotional push, “TOYFRIEND” has already made a significant dent across Japan’s leading digital platforms, debuting at No. 1 on MORA’s All Genre, International, and Hi-Res International charts, while peaking at No. 2 on the iTunes All Genre chart and No. 1 on its Pop chart, and No. 2 on Line Music Japan’s World Music Top 100 chart. The upbeat bop has reached the summit of the RecoChoku’s Hi-Res Single and Single charts, and reached No. 2 on the Oricon Digital Chart—a proof of the Filipino boy group’s strong surge of support from Japanese fans. Other chart placements in Japan include a No. 3 peak at Spotify Daily Viral chart, No. 6 debut on Billboard Japan Top Download Songs chart and No. 4 placement on Genius Japan Overall Song Chart.

Inviting listeners to the floor with its inescapable rhythm and polished production, “TOYFRIEND” pulls the best of both worlds from both Asian pop powerhouses. But above all that brimming energy is a narrative that explores the messiness of a situationship. It’s perfect for the summer: an infectious dance anthem that goes well with angst and frustration.

SB19’s JOSH explains, “[TOYFRIEND] captures the uncertainty of having feelings for someone while feeling completely confused if those feelings will be reciprocated in the first place. In this puzzling situation, one person can end up being treated as a toyfriend: caught between friendship and something more. The track reflects the ambiguity that comes with blurred intentions.”

For PABLO, “Toyfriend” became an instant favorite within the first few seconds of hearing it, with SB19 expressing confidence that it was the right song to pursue for the collaboration. “The sound carried a distinct energy that stood out from the start, making it an instant fit for the concept we were aiming for. Artistically, the track leans into a more edgy, slightly spicy, and sexy tone.”

The track was initially conceived as a completely new song for both SB19 and BE:FIRST, which became a key factor in shaping the overall concept of the collaboration. According to PABLO, approaching the project from a blank slate allowed both groups to align on a shared direction and explore a sound that reflects their combined artistry.

“This collaborative process enabled both groups to contribute meaningfully while ensuring the final output feels cohesive and authentic,” PABLO shares in a press statement. “Ultimately, the intent was to deliver a fresh and distinctive record that highlights the strengths and synergy of both SB19 and BE:FIRST.”

SB19’s JUSTIN adds, “When the opportunity to collaborate with BE:FIRST came up, we identified it as a track that best suited both BE:FIRST and SB19 in terms of style and direction. SB19 recorded the song at our studio, 1Z, while BE:FIRST recorded their parts in Japan. We ensured that members of our team were present during BE:FIRST’s recording sessions to provide guidance and maintain cohesion in terms of vocal direction and overall sound.”

SB19’s KEN pointed out that the collaboration began when he represented the country as Felip for prominent music showcase in Japan last year at the K-Arena Yokohama in Kanagawa, Japan. “The collaboration began when I previously performed for DUNK. It was the fans who truly made it happen by engaging with one another, which the BMSG team recognized as a valuable opportunity to collaborate with 1Z Entertainment. This led to the collaboration between BE:FIRST and SB19.”

Despite geographical challenges, the collaborative process moved with striking ease—thanks to their commitment to achieving a strong and unified output. SB19’s STELL pointed out how every contribution and creative element clicked into place. “Rather than seeing the distance as a limitation, it became an opportunity to embrace a global collaboration setup. Overall, the experience was very smooth and collaborative.” With the release of “TOYFRIEND,” SB19 and BE:FIRST delivers another genre-forward release that champions the growing influence of Asian pop on the global stage.

SB19’s “TOYFRIEND” (with BE:FIRST) is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.

SB19 will be headlining the Wakas at Simula Concert—their biggest concert yet—happening on April 18, 2026, at the SMDC Festival Grounds. It will serve as the finale to their Simula at Wakas tour, which supported the release of their three-part EP (Pagsibol, Pagtatag, and Simula at Wakas). Japanese boy group BE:FIRST was recently announced as part of the lineup.

Introducing Spotify for Artist Masterclass

Spotify will power a key educational component of the program through a Spotify for Artists Masterclass led by the Spotify Asia team. The inclusion of this session reinforces AOTN’s broader commitment to going beyond live performance by creating space for artist development, education, and long-term career support. LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines returns for a second season with Vice Ganda as host. The comedy competition series challenges ten comedians to make each other laugh while keeping straight faces themselves—the last one standing wins. Season 1 became one of Prime Video’s most-watched titles in the Philippines, with organic positive social media reactions, reflecting how Filipino audiences embraced the format and relatable humor. The LOL: Last One Laughing format has become one of the most celebrated franchises on Prime Video with successful versions across Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, France and Italy. Season 2 premiere date and contestants’ names to be announced.

Already streaming since March 20, The Silent Noise brings together Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo in their highly anticipated series comeback. This raw crime drama follows a deaf son who must face suppressed truths when a body is discovered in their small town, exploring how silence can both protect and destroy.

Second chances drive Love Is Never Gone, starring Joshua Garcia and Ivana Alawi in a romance-thriller about an ex-convict who discovers his dead lover is alive and reinvented as a socialite.  Built on the viral social media “loyalty test” phenomenon, The Loyalty Game features Janine Gutierrez, Jericho Rosales, and Sofia Andres in a psychological thriller where a fidelity test becomes deadly when two women discover the man they’re fighting over has a chilling secret he would do anything to keep hidden.

Family bonds take center stage in Honor Thy Mother, reuniting Sharon Cuneta and Barbie Forteza, also starring John Estrada. The series follows a CEO and her estranged daughter who must unite to survive a deadly conspiracy, exploring mother-daughter reconciliation through corporate intrigue and redemption while cross-cultural romance unfolds in Kopino, starring the beloved Paulo Avelino and Kim Chiu as childhood sweethearts torn apart by fate who reunite in Korea’s corporate world and addresses the Kopino experience—children of Korean and Filipino parents seeking family recognition.

Political intrigue ignites in Behind Closed Doors as Marian Rivera plays a sharp-tongued radio announcer whose secret affair with the Philippine President—played in a special participation by Dingdong Dantes—is exposed, making her the prime suspect in his assassination and putting her on a collision course with his daughter, portrayed by Jillian Ward.

“This slate represents the depth of our collaboration with Filipino creators and studios,” said Chaitanya Divan, Head of Content Acquisition, Prime Video Southeast Asia. “Working closely with ABS-CBN and GMA, we’re supporting local storytellers to bring their visions to life—stories that speak to our local Filipino audiences while showcasing the incredible Filipino talents. These are central to our commitment of building a content library that serves our Filipino customers’ diverse tastes.”

Along with these seven original titles, Prime Video is also announcing exclusive licensed Filipino films joining the 2026 lineup, including Samahan ng mga Makasalanan, Gabi ng Lagim, the Bayaniverse trilogy: Quezon, Heneral Luna, Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral, Bar Boys: After School, and Open Endings. Together with the originals, these titles reflect Prime Video’s commitment to Filipino storytelling—bringing together established stars, award-winning creators, and stories that speak to audiences at home and around the world.

Expanding Korean Content

Following those unveiled earlier at Prime Video Presents International Originals in February, Prime Video also announced three new Korean titles set to premiere in the second half of 2026, further strengthening its premium Korean content slate.

A Love Other Than Yours stars Seo Kangjun (Undercover High School, Cheese in the Trap, Boyfriend on Demand), Ahn Eun-jin (Dynamite Kiss, The Good Bad Mother, Hospital Playlist), Lee Joo Ahn (Bon Appétit, Your Majesty; True Beauty) and Jo Aram (Doctor Cha, The Auditors) in a grounded romance about a couple in a 10-year relationship forced to confront whether to move forward with marriage or let each other go.

Final Table (working title) features global sensation Ahn Hyo-seop (KPop Demon Hunters, Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, Business Proposal). The series is set against the high-stakes backdrop of ‘The Table: K-Chef 2026’—a competition to crown the world’s finest Korean chef. It follows Kang Han, an overseas-based chef who joins the tournament representing the restaurant ‘Familia’ following an unexpected turn of events.

Nine to Six stars Park Min Young (Siren’s Kiss, Marry My Husband), Yook Sung Jae (The Haunted Palace, The Golden Spoon), and Go Soo (Missing: The Other Side) in an office romance. When workaholic deputy manager Kang I-ji meets warm-hearted intern Han Sun-woo in an automobile company, they discover in each other what they’re missing—navigating love, career, family, and social pressure to find their own balance between independence and connection.

The slate announcement event gathered content partners, creators, talent, and key industry players, and included a fireside chat with Prime Video executives, panel discussions, as well as appearances from the casts and creators of the newly unveiled titles.

Mark Carpio writes the ending he never expected in new EP, Huling Pag-ibig

Listen to the focus track “Paalam Na,” a powerful meditation on closure and healing

OPM hitmaker Mark Carpio drops his highly anticipated new EP, Huling Pag-ibig—released under EMPIRE.PH Music and ONErpm. Marking a milestone in his 10-year career, the 4-track EP weaves themes of love, loss, and emotional closure into one cohesive sonic package. Both introspective and freeing, the project also serves as an ending to a well-loved music era—one that positioned Carpio as both a prominent balladeer of his generation and a gifted songwriter known for his poignant yet earnest storytelling.

With nearly 400 million streams on Spotify and a catalog of hits, Carpio continues to build on his strength as a reliable pop artist. His latest offering reinforces this reputation, presenting an introspective collection of songs that connects his music roots with present-day narratives.

Conceptually, Huling Pag-ibig is a continuation of Carpio’s earlier works: the optimistic yearning of “Hiling” and the romantic realization of “Kay Tagal.” This time, Carpio shifts the narrative and confronts the possibility that long-awaited love may not unfold as hoped. The result is a cohesive exploration of love’s evolution: from persistence to loss, heartbreak to acceptance. The intentional structure enables listeners to experience Huling Pag-ibig not merely as a collection of tunes but as a continuous emotional journey.

“This EP is the twist of that story,” explains the entertainment multi-hyphenate. “It asks, what if, after all that waiting, things didn’t turn out the way I hoped? Huling Pag-ibig is about that journey—fighting for love until your very last drop of hope and learning to let go when there’s nothing left.”

The EP’s emotional depth is matched by its meticulous songwriting, which has evolved over the course of ten years. Many of the songs started as unfinished ideas during the early stages of Mark Carpio’s career, only reaching its full potential later through personal reflection, lived experience, and shared stories of his fans. Through platforms like TikTok and his “Kape Tayo” series, the chart-topping solo artist helped empower his listeners to participate in the creative process, ultimately contributing to an EP that uniquely functions as a shared emotional experience.

All the tracks in the EP showcase a distinct style that adds up to the record’s emotionally rich sound. The title track, produced by RJ Pineda, draws inspiration from Adele’s sweeping ballads but is reimagined through a distinctly Filipino lens. “Ayaw Mo Na,” co-written with Ethan Loukas, taps into a more organic folk direction—thanks to its storytelling-driven lyrics and heart-tugging warmth. “Paano Ba Mag-isa” sounds like a return to form, offering a stripped-down, melodic approach that is steeped in classic ballad traditions.

Serving as the EP’s masterpiece is the focus track “Paalam Na,” produced by Line In Productions’ Nikhil Amarnani. A clear departure from his mellow, piano-backed ballads, the tune leans toward alternative pop/rock sensibilities. As the final chapter of the EP, “Paalam Na” reveals itself as a powerful meditation on closure: accepting that some things are meant to end, even as healing is still underway.

Carpio shares, “It’s also the song that took me the longest to write. I started writing it right after Hiling and Kay Tagal, but it took me almost 10 years to fully understand what it was about.”

According to Carpio, the finishing touches on the song came after a recent interaction with a close friend. “It was only when a friend of mine came to my studio after a breakup. He didn’t say much—he was just sitting there, trying to hide his sadness after ending a long-term relationship. That moment stayed with me. It gave me the clarity I needed to finally finish the song. In the EP, it represents closure—accepting that she has already moved on, even if you’re still in the process of letting go.”

Coinciding with Carpio’s decade-long anniversary as a recording artist, the new EP represents a moment of creative transition. Shedding off his “hugot” king persona, Carpio hints that the current record may signal the end of his ballad-driven era while opening doors to new creative reinventions for future music releases.

“This could be the closing chapter of that side of me,” Mark Carpio reveals. “What comes next is something I’m really excited about—but I’ll reveal that after this EP.”

Mark Carpio’s “Huling Pag-ibig” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide.

For All of the Noise 2026, Our Shame and HengJones bring Taiwanese waves to Manila

From folktronica to indigenous hip-hop, Our Shame and HengJones co-headline the regional music showcase and conference festival alongside artists from Singapore, Indonesia, New Zealand, and the Philippines

Taiwanese hip-hop artist Heng Jones and alternative pop duo Our Shame will co-headline All Of The Noise 2026, a three-day, multi-venue cultural event that will take place in Astbury Makati (April 17 and 19), Sari-Sari Makati (April 17 and 19), and 123 Block in Mandaluyong City (April 18).

Two of the most promising up-and-coming artists in Taiwan’s independent music scene, Grrrl Gang, Arash Buana, and Gavendri from Indonesia, Phoebe Rings from New Zealand, Shye from Singapore, and our very own BP Valenzuela, DJ Love, Elijah Canlas, Fitterkarma, Ourselves the Elves, SOS, and others from the Asia Pacific region will be joining the lineup.

Making their official debut in Manila, Our Shame and HengJones bring distinct sonic identities honed by culture, experimentation, and storytelling. Our Shame will perform at the intimate Sari-Sari stage on April 17, while HengJones takes over the outdoor stage at 123 Block on April 18.

Our Shame arrives on the heels of their critically acclaimed Hidden Album, a concept-driven project that explores themes of intimacy and discovery through a layered folktronica lens. Combining acoustic instrumentation with field recordings and electronic textures that extend from trip-hop to UK garage influences, the indie duo makes compelling pop tunes that are sonically understated but whose songwriting feels personal and immersive. The Taiwanese pairing is currently developing extended works from the album, including prospective international collaborations with plans for a tour in Japan in late 2026 or early 2027.

HengJones, on the other hand, continues to gather incredible recognition for his debut album, fangcalay a tamedaw—a deeply introspective body of work rooted in Indigenous Pangcah (Amis) identity. Built on themes of matriarchal narratives and language preservation, the project reflects an important intersection of heritage and contemporary hip-hop culture. Following a well-lauded performance in Shibuya, Japan, HengJones is currently working on a new material featuring a Japanese producer, alongside major appearances  and an upcoming nationwide tour in his home country, Taiwan.

Beyond live performances, All Of The Noise 2026 broadens its cultural reach with its Cut Through The Noise conference, which addresses important issues influencing the local music scene, and Echoes of the Noise, a carefully chosen collection of music documentaries examining the connections between sound, identity, and social movements.

All Of The Noise 2026 maintains its dedication to establishing the Philippines’ expanding position as a crucial hub in Asia’s developing independent music environment through its multi-platform programming and international partnerships.
