To promote vaccine confidence among Filipinos McDonald’s Philippines joins “IngatAngatBakuna Lahat”

McDonald’s President and CEO Kenneth S. Yang showed support to the Task Force T3 as he shared the importance of boosting vaccine confidence among Filipinos as a way to encourage more to get vaccinated to help keep themselves and others safe.

The arrival of more doses of COVID-19 vaccine into the country and by providing more information to encourage more people getting vaccinated, McDonald’s Philippines joins different members of the private sector in a campaign to raise awareness and education among Filipinos to boost vaccine confidence.

During the press briefing of IngatAngat, a private sector-led campaign that aims to re-start the Philippine economy safely, McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO, Kenneth S. Yang expressed the company’s support in participating in the “IngatAngatBakuna Lahat” multimedia campaign which was recently launched. IngatAngat is led by Taskforce T3–a multi-sectoral public-private consortium working closely with the Department of Health (DOH), the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19, and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to manage the COVID-19 situation in the Philippines.

“In McDonald’s Philippines, safety is always an integral part of our operating culture and will always be. Our M Safe program is a testament to this. The health and safety of our people will always be a priority, as we are grounded on the principle that when we keep our employees safe, we keep our customers safe,” says Yang. “With the arrival of vaccines, we will double down our efforts in supporting the government’s program towards the vaccination of more Filipinos. We have started by first informing and educating our employees on the importance of vaccines, as an additional layer of protection  to keep themselves safe first so they can keep their family, co-workers and customers safe always.”

McDonald’s Philippines continues to support its employees with regular RT-PCR testing conducted to the company’s front-liners, the distribution of care kits, and strict implementation of M Safe protocols to ensure a safe working environment for the employees, and a safe McDonald’s experience for customers.

Earlier this year, McDonald’s also announced that it has purchased close to 100,000 doses of vaccine to be given to its employees for free.

“The private sector plays a very big role in supporting the government’s vaccination program. From ensuring that our own people are vaccinated, to using our voice and influence to encourage our consumers to do the same. It is only through getting more Filipinos vaccinated at the soonest time possible that our country can recover and rebuild.” Yang added

M Safe dine-in with McDonald’s

The launch of the IngatAngatBakuna Lahat vaccine confidence campaign comes after the recent announcement of the government on the new classification for the ‘NCR Plus’. Beginning May 15 until May 31, Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal will be placed under “General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions”.

With the new classification, the aforementioned cities will be able to allow restaurants to continue to accommodate outdoor dining at limited capacity, but will also be able to allow more consumers to dine-in indoors with 20% venue capacity. This will allow Filipinos to have more ways to enjoy their favorite meals from McDonald’s apart from Drive-Thru, and Take-out, on top of delivery.

During this period the most important is to ensure the health and safety of customers, so customers who would want to enjoy their favorite meals are assured a high standard of safety with stringent M Safe protocols in place.

Mega Prime and the Prime Mom Club hosted a very well Therapeutic Workshop for Moms

The mothers of the world, if there is anybody who needs some long-overdue pleasure, it is them. Moms are constantly juggling a thousand and one tasks, whether or not there is a pandemic, all for the benefit of their families and loved ones.

Mega Prime and the Prime Mom Club arranged a one-of-a-kind virtual glamping event to thank all mothers for their untiring efforts. It enabled moms to relax and bond with other moms. The All About Mom session pampered moms by providing them with some me-time while learning alongside peers who shared their concerns and interests. During the zoom event, I was so amazed by the things I learned there. I enjoyed it so much and grateful for the menu that I recently acquired from the chef who shared using prime products. A lot of activities were made during the event and everyone of us learned and enjoyed it.

Unlike previous Prime Mom Club workshops, a virtual glamping session was developed as the ultimate relaxation hot spot for our Prime Moms. Guests were encouraged to reconnect with all that was in store for them as a way to communicate with one another while also reminding our moms that it’s vital to take care of themselves. They had a great time playing quiz games and other immersive game booths, as well as practicing home tablescape styling from Pinky Tobiano, and cooking with Mega Prime Oyster Sauce and Canned Fruits. Members of Mega Prime’s Prime Mom Club, an exclusive club for moms who want to improve their homemaking skills, attended the online gathering.

Marian Rivera Dantes, an honorary member of the Prime Mom Club and Mega Prime’s brand ambassador, spoke at the event about the importance of bonding with other moms through common passions like cooking, which are beneficial to one’s well-being, particularly during this pandemic.

Chef Rosebud Benitez debuted new Mega Prime Choices Oyster Sauce recipes. She also used Mega Prime’s Canned Fruits to make delectable desserts. Both of them participated in an online cook-off with Mommy Connh Cruz, the winner of The Quest for the Next Prime Mom, and shared some useful cooking tips and ideas.

According to Marvin Tiu Lim, Mega Global Chief Growth and Development Officer, “Mega Prime deeply appreciates the efforts that all moms extend for their families and loved ones. We wanted to celebrate them and thank them for everything that they tirelessly do through Prime Mom Club. This shows our commitment to empower moms, not just through cooking workshops but also through events that focus on their overall well-being. We hope to have more of these events for Prime Mom Club members in the near future.”

The Prime Mom Club has provided a forum for moms to hone their homemaking skills. Prime Moms are given unique access to enriching experiences with experts and celebrities to direct them, combining knowledge and education with immersive and engaging events. To join the growing group of modern homemakers and receive exclusive updates on upcoming activities and benefits, sign up for the Prime Mom Club at www.primemomclub.com. Mongolian Pork, the new dish of Panda Express this Mother’s Day

The new Mongolian Pork entrée features a savory, umami flavor profile -combining a hint of sweetness from the caramelized onions, scallions, red peppers, and mushrooms with the smokiness of the seared pork.

Panda Express launches their first pork-entrée on its Philippines menu in time of the Mother’s Day Celebration, Sunday, May 9. The new Mongolian Pork features a tender cut of wok- seared porkshoulder and crisp vegetables, wok-tossed in a savory ginger and garlic sauce.

This entrée is traditionally made with pork, stir-fried with white and green onions, but Panda Express deepened the layers of flavors by adding bell peppers and mushrooms, making it uniquely American Chinese.

The chefs’ technique mastering heat, flame, and the wok brings out the “Wok Hei,” or “breath of the wok,” which creates a smoky, umami flavor in the dish.

The complex flavors of this entrée is done through layering of ingredients: first, the aromatics as the flavor base; second, the pork that is seared perfectly to lock in the juiciness; third, the freshly-cut vegetables are cooked to bring out a sweet caramelization and finished with a ginger and garlic soy sauce.

Pair this delicious dish  with the famous Orange™ Chicken—Panda’s signature crispy chicken dish wok-tossed in a sweet and spicy orange sauce, or choose  the award-winning Honey Walnut Shrimp which is made with large tempura-battered shrimp tossed in a honey sauce and topped with glazed walnuts. Complete the plate with Panda’s delicious Chow Mein, a stir-fried noodle dish with onions, celery, and cabbage.

Panda’s Mongolian Pork is available at participating locations (Megamall and North EDSA) for dine-in and take out. It is also available for delivery via GrabFood® and foodpanda®.

McDonald’s shows the best gift a mother can get in their latest commercial

With said world collapsing around us and our lives spinning around the four walls of our homes, our mothers’ efforts to satisfy all of our needs and provide us with a comfortable life have become much more apparent. Moms have consistently prioritized their families’ needs above their own, from regular housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and cooking to managing businesses or working a full-time job, assisting children in transitioning to blended learning, and seeking meaningful ways to bring happiness to households.

So this Mother’s Day, McDonald’s celebrates the moms who tirelessly give their all just so their children have a happy life and a happy home. Through the launch of their new online video ‘Himbing’, McDonald’s makes us realize that celebrating moms doesn’t always have to come in grand gestures and luxury gifts. Sometimes, the best way to pay tribute to her is to give her what she needs the most— a break from everything to rest and relax, even just for a day. This, alongside hundreds of Filipinos who have expressed heartwarming relatability to the video, sheds light on the idea that giving our moms time to just slow down and breathe is truly one of the most valuable gifts we can give her.

According to Oliver Rabatan, McDonald’s Philippines Marketing & Channels Head, “McDonald’s has always been about ‘simple, feel-good moments’. We hold that true in whatever we do and offer. In these extraordinary times, we wish that all the more for all the moms who work so hard to take care of their families. So this Mother’s Day, we released a video to show just how easy and simple it is to give moms the gift they need the most: tulog na mahimbing. We hope we all remember that sometimes, it’s the simplest things that can make one the happiest.”

Give mom a well-deserved break and a treat to her McDonald’s favorites as a gesture of your love and appreciation.

A Special Mega Mother’s Day Activity was been led by Dimples Romana with KuMMMares and Mega Mackerel

Once in a while, the Kumares can get together for some bonding and nonstop kwentuhan. Mega Mackerel hosted KuMMMare Times with Dimples, recognizing that moms need each other’s strength and encouragement, particularly in the midst of a pandemic, as an early Mother’s Day treat for all Mega Moms, Romana, an online bonding and learning session.

Dimples Romana, Mega Mackerel’s newest brand ambassador and a true Mega mom, was in charge of the launch. She eagerly shared her cooking, fitness, diet, and family life advice with other moms looking for smart and realistic kitchen and household management advice.

Dimples, the newest Mega Mackerel face, talked about how she’s picky about what she gives her family, particularly when it comes to food. Dimples is the sort that double-checks the quality and label on everything, and with Mega Mackerel, she knows that each can is delicious, nutritious, and a great match for their family.

I learned a lot and enjoyed the Facebook live of Mrs. Dimples Romana, I was amazed by the cheesy mega mackerel omelette and everything that has been shared in the online event. It was indeed a great treat for all the mothers out there. I also acquire knowledge on how to be a great mother. Lastly, Mrs. Dimples Romana is such a Good person.

She also mentioned some interesting Mega Mackerel recipes, which are ideal for any recipe due to their large chunks and rich umami taste, which adds an extra layer of linamnam flavor to any dish. Dimples demonstrated how to transform the three variants – Mega Mackerel in Natural Oil, Mega Mackerel in Tomato Sauce, and Mega Mackerel in Tomato Sauce with Chili Added – into simple, tasty, and nutritious dishes.

“We’re happy and excited that Dimples Romana has joined the Mega family. Dimples embodies the same values that Mega Global and Mega Mackerel stand for–excellence and commitment to quality, serving only the best to Filipino families. Through Dimples, we aim to continue being a trusted partner of all Mega moms, inspire them and help them unleash their madiskarte, praktikal, and maparaan qualities at home,” said by Marvin Tiu Lim, Mega Global Chief Growth and Development officer.

This special Mother’s Day event was full of KUMMMARE moments and inspirational concepts as moms shared their stories about how they continue to nurture their families despite the challenges they face. Fun-loving moms should look forward to more fun and exciting experiences with fellow kumares now that Dimples is a Mega Mackerel ambassador.

McDonald’s Philippines remained resilient during the COVID-19 pandemic and is on track to resume operations in 2021

McDonald’s opened its ‘green store’ in U.N. Ave. part of the QSR giant’s commitment to reduce its environmental footprint and source sustainable packaging.

Golden Arches Development Corporation (McDonald’s Philippines), a leading fast service restaurant giant majority owned and run by Chairman & Founder Dr. George T. Yang and President & CEO Kenneth Yang, has carefully navigated the 2020 pandemic through its core commitment to its people and constant pursuit of providing a frictionless customer experience.

Amid the pandemic’s many challenges, McDonald’s was able to exploit its market fundamentals, such as its safe operating culture, solid brand, and community engagement, reinforcing its support for its people (employees and customers) and fortifying its strategic investments prior to 2020 to accelerate business segments such as McDelivery and Drive Thru this year.

A focus on its people

McDonald’s Drive Thru segment has strengthened as it launched its ‘Ride-Thru’ and ‘Park-Order-Pay’ initiatives to champion customer inclusivity amid the lockdown restrictions.

At the onset of the lockdown, McDonald’s was quick to launch the McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen through the Ronald McDonald House Charities, during the enhanced community quarantines by re-purposing the kitchens of its stores that were temporarily closed to prepare the meals of its beneficiaries, especially frontliners who work tirelessly to keep people safe, as well as communities who remain embattled and experience hunger.

Having malasakit ingrained in the company’s values, the QSR giant has served over 460,000 meals to 229 communities, 26 non-government organizations, 133 government agencies, over 250 hospitals, and 61 quarantine centers nationwide to date, and is committed to continue to serve more meals in 2021.

“Our commitment to people has always been embedded in our core values. We understand the significant role we play in ensuring that we support communities in need, especially during the most trying of times,” shares Kenneth Yang.

The company has also allotted the space of the underutilized party rooms for the use of teachers who had difficulties transitioning to distance learning. The opening of over 220 “McClassrooms” in October all over the country with free access to Wi-Fi and McCafé coffee was well received by the public during Teacher’s Month.

Pursuant to its commitment to people, McDonald’s also launched its M Safe program to ensure the safety of its employees, offices and its restaurants in order to serve customers across its different touchpoints safely. It was through the program that the company continued to operate its restaurants safely amidst the quarantine restrictions.

M Safe then became an avenue for the company to demonstrate its commitment to support the government in its bid to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. M Safe was acknowledged by the government and other external stakeholders particularly for its initiatives, including mass testing for its own front-liners (restaurant managers and crew) and the integration of the IATF-endorsed contact tracing system, Stay Safe, across all stores.

McDonald’s further extended its support to Task Force T3, a consortium of private companies that partner with the government for its test, trace and treat initiatives against COVID-19. McDonald’s actively took part in Task Force T3’s Ingat Angat campaign, the country’s biggest consumer confidence campaign to restart the economy safely.

The QSR giant also announced that it will be providing free COVID-19 vaccines for its employees to help the government accelerate the national vaccination program.

Customer experience through product innovations

With the rising homebound economy and eCommerce, the brand has leveraged its McDelivery channel as a source of growth.

Responding to the impact of COVID-19 to the business, McDonald’s continued its focus on providing relevant innovations and product offerings that would allow a safe and more convenient experience for its customers.

With the rising homebound economy and the exponential growth of eCommerce, the company leveraged its McDelivery channel as a source of growth or leveraged McDelivery, cashless and other technology investments.

McDonald’s has taken this opportunity to scale its food delivery aggregator partnerships with GrabFood and foodpanda, which allowed customers more options to enjoy their favorites conveniently. This has widened the reach and exponentially increased the growth in delivery.

The company also strengthened its Drive Thru segment and championed customer inclusivity through its initiatives like Ride-Thru and Park-Order-Pay, which encourages all sorts of vehicles to experience McDonald’s in their vehicles, on-the-go.

These innovations supported by increasing cashless payment solutions in these segments, allowed McDonald’s Delivery and Drive-Thru services to grow significantly accounting for 60% of its total sales. The company also noted a 28.6% growth in cashless transactions in 2020.

Due to the limitation on public gatherings, events and celebrations were forced to be done at home. The company launched Party-To-Go and Send To Many options, enabling safe celebrations at home. McDonald’s also introduced a wide array of new products to delight its customers such as the McDo Spicy Burger, Spicy McNuggets, shakes, sundae blends and the McSpaghetti platter.

“Our priority has always been to constantly evolve and introduce innovations for our customers, and for them to enhance their safe and frictionless experience across all channels. This continued roll out of our offerings is a strategic investment as we continue to surpass difficulties and thrive during this time of initial recovery,” says President & CEO Yang.

Primed to recover in 2021

With the innovations launched in 2020, the leading QSR giant is optimistic to recover this year from the impact of COVID-19. Amid the continuous difficulties posed by the pandemic, McDonald’s was able to end 2020 with a 655-store base and the opening of 16 new stores, including the largest store in the Philippines, in Capital Town, Pampanga.

With growth between the first and second half of 2020, which carried over to Q1 of 2021, the company is bullish on gearing for recovery this year. Despite the recent reinstatement of the Enhanced Community Quarantine last March, which suspended its dine-in operations among other restrictions, McDonald’s is set to open at least 30 new stores this year.

“As we open new stores during these trying times, we are able to generate much needed job opportunities for more Filipinos and demonstrate our outlook of economic recovery in the near future.” Mr. Kenneth Yang concludes.
