At the press launch of Iskaparate.com, media representatives participate in interactive online purchases

A team from ConnectSys, Iskaparate’s ecosystem provider, led an interactive online purchase demo for media representatives and industry partners to get a firsthand look at the platform during the press launch of Iskaparate.com on October 15, 2024, at Overdoughs Café in Ayala Malls Circuit, Makati.

The occasion, which was intended to present Iskaparate’s characteristics and advantages, was a significant occasion for the platform as it formally entered the online market. The demonstration included a comprehensive overview of the website, covering product showcasing, e-commerce functionalities, and the purchasing process that was initiated with an e-gift certificate. In addition to an open discussion on the platform’s general functionality, attendees interacted with the demo through interactive navigation.

I really enjoyed the event; it helped the local and small business entrepreneurs to widen their reach. It is also essential to acquire more skills to innovate and foster their business. Through the event, we got a demo of how the whole process works, and everyone enjoyed the event. It is such a great relief knowing what they launched is such a convenience, not just for the sellers but also for the customers. That’s why it is also important that we value our very own products and support the small and local businesses here in our country.

The event began with a warm video message from Iskaparate Founder Joey Bermudez, sharing the journey of Iskaparate from having a community of 33 entrepreneurial mothers to partnering with 3,000 fully vetted sellers. He highlighted. “Iskaparate.com was born during the darkest days of the COVID pandemic when micro and small entrepreneurs lost their physical stores to the brutal lockdowns. We then created an online platform that would allow these entrepreneurs to resume their businesses.”

Attendees included a mix of media professionals and industry partners eager to see how the platform could potentially impact and transform the digital commerce landscape for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippines.

In the modern era when a unique driving force can define the success of an online platform, Iskaparate.com made a strong impression with its mission to empower small business owners. In her talk, DTC Promos Inc. President & COO Marissa Dames emphasized its passionate goal, “We share a vision to support the growth of MSMEs.”

On the other hand, Josefina Rojo-Natividad, President & COO of Iskaparate, shared the progressive growth of the platform, “Iskaparate started as a B2C [platform], but now, we are proud to showcase that our website already features B2B, offering grocery items and personal care products. This would benefit the sellers we have whose products are not able to sell because of competition.”

Using an e-gift certificate, the demo walked participants through the entire buying process, from selecting products to completing transactions. This hands-on demonstration allowed the attendees to explore different aspects of the platform in real time. This feature of the launch allowed for an in-depth understanding of how the platform operates from a customer perspective.

Iskaparate.com, while initially conceived to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), has now extended its offerings to include larger businesses and B2B companies. With a wide range of e-commerce tools, vendors of all sizes can list and manage their products, handle transactions, and engage directly with consumers on a trusted, efficient platform. The team emphasized that this expansion is designed to help businesses adapt to the digital age while remaining competitive in an increasingly globalized market.

Iskaparate.com’s primary goal of empowering Filipino business owners, especially MSMEs, by providing them with the resources they need to successfully traverse the e-commerce industry was further explained during the event. Iskaparate aims to make online selling accessible to companies that might lack the funds or know-how to set up their own e-commerce systems by offering a multi-vendor platform that levels the playing field.

James Reid’s song “Mirasol” captures the delight of summer romance 

The delightful pop track serves as the third single off his upcoming EP “jgh,” to be released next month

With the release of  “Mirasol  which is available today through Sony Music Entertainment, James Reid is continuing to earworm his way to mainstream ubiquity.

With an astonishing run of unstoppable chart-toppers in the 2010s, his most recent song not only exudes unquestionable charisma but also reaffirms his promise as a hitmaker of the highest level.

James explains that the song is about falling in love with a sunflower and how romance is something that needs to be understood, appreciated, and protected. He continues, “Love is an organic process and needs to grow naturally.”

“Mirasol” is co-written by James and Alison Shore, an R&B artist whose work brims with effortless cool and ‘90s suave. Both accomplished artists thought of using the sunflower as a metaphor “for a relationship that gives off an air of sweet summer romance and innocence.”

As James explains it further, “I want to connect on a different level with my fans that I haven’t been able to do before. Writing in Tagalog (Filipino) was a very welcomed challenge for me, and I’ve enjoyed it so much.”

One Click Straight’s Tim Marquez, a frequent collaborator of James himself, also brought a tapestry of effortlessly blissful sound that complements the romantic nature of the lyrics. The final product evokes the more commercial and critically acclaimed work of James Reid during the Diary Ng Panget era, but rendered with more sophistication and subtlety, production-wise.

The third single off his forthcoming EP, jgh, which is scheduled for release on November 22, 2024, is “Mirasol.” The next EP, which includes songs like “Sandal” and “Hurt Me Too,” is characterized as a “return-to-form” record that touches on his more pop-leaning direction and softer, more vulnerable side.

SMAC’s Php 14.93M donation to Globe’s Hapag Movement is their greatest donation to date

Multi-year partnership contributes to uplifting Filipino lives

In preparation for World Food Day, SMAC has reaffirmed its commitment to combating involuntary hunger by contributing Php 14.93 million to Globe’s Hapag Movement. This is a major milestone in Globe’s efforts to end involuntary hunger and improve communities nationwide.

The Globe-led hunger reduction program, which helps 100,000 Filipino families with livelihood training and supplemental meals, has received the largest single corporate donation to date.

The funds were raised in the second round of SMAC’s partnership with the Hapag Movement, focusing on SMAC kits sold and members’ points donation through eligible purchases from SM Store and other SM retail partners from December 2023 to January 2024. The donation will be distributed to key mobilization and program implementation partners of the Hapag Movement, among them the Ayala Foundation, Tzu Chi Foundation, the United Nations World Food Programme, and World Vision.

The Hapag Movement has provided meals to over 154,000 family members, with 2,784 heads of households receiving livelihood training. Impressively, 2,361 of these individuals have successfully continued running their small businesses, highlighting the program’s role in fostering sustainable community growth.

“We are deeply grateful to our partners for closely working with us on this life-changing initiative. Together, we are creating a meaningful shift in consumer behavior, where Filipino shoppers are inspired to consider not only their personal needs but also the collective well-being,” said Yaracel S. The growing success of the partnership also reflects the importance of corporate collaboration in addressing social issues.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GT Cup Asia 2024: In an exciting battle, Malaysian Taj Izrin Aiman wins

Team Indonesia comes in first place in the Country Championship

At the Connexion Conference and Event Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 15 of the best e-Motorsports racers in the region squared off in the thrilling finale of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) GT Cup Asia 2024. In three thrilling races on top-tier circuits, racers from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand fought for the title of Asia Champion and the opportunity to represent the region in the TGR GT Cup Global Finals in Amsterdam in December.

After several thrilling races, Taj Izrin Aiman of Malaysia won the TGR GT Cup Asia 2024 Individual Championship with a total of 65 points, earning a well-earned triumph. Andika Rama of Indonesia, the reigning 2023 Individual Champion, finished in second place with 57 points, demonstrating unwavering perseverance. Moreno Pratama, another Indonesian, finished third on the podium with 48, his first appearance in the Asia finals. Rama’s and his colleagues’ steady play also helped Indonesia win the coveted Country Championship title.

The competition, held on Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation®5 (PS5®) and PlayStation®4 (PS4®), saw a blend of strategic prowess, precision driving, and bold moves across three races. Fans were treated to an unforgettable showdown on iconic tracks like Sardegna Windmills, Nürburgring Grand Prix (GP), and Fuji International Speedway.

Three Thrilling Races Define the 2024 Regional Finals

With five stunning livery designs that represent each country, the competition began with sunny weather on TGR GT Asia Cup’s first-ever rally track, the Sardegna Windmills circuit, where drivers took the wheel of the GR Yaris. Rama took the lead early on, only facing slight competition in the early laps before finishing as the winner of the first race. Throughout most of the race, the most intense action occurred mid-race, where drivers from Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia battled it out. A close fight for all, the race ended with lap timings for all drivers separated by less than half a minute.

The second race at Nürburgring GP featured drivers in the GR Corolla Morizo Edition ’22, with a reverse grid for the top eight finishers from race one, placing the first race winner in eighth position, and so on. Pratama used this to his advantage – placing eighth in the first race, Pratama stayed within the top three positions throughout the circuit, eventually coming out on top as the second race’s winner. Malaysia’s team strategy also worked in their favor, with two of their driver’s taking up second and third position. Rain also came into play for this race, creating a challenging track that led to many position changes for several drivers.

The final showdown tested racers’ strategies to the limit with the technically challenging Fuji International Speedway, known for its tough last sector coming out into the straights. Driving on the GR010 Hybrid ’21, Pratama battled fiercely to take fourth place from Malaysia’s Iqbal Suji, with both drivers employing strategic offensive and defensive maneuvers. The Indonesian driver ultimately made his move, overtaking in the final laps of the race. This third race also saw a heavy amount of contact, with more than one racer spinning out and resulting penalties served. Opting for soft tires at the start, while many of his competitors chose mediums, Aiman maintained his lead and secured the win through a well-timed pit stop strategy.

“I’m truly at a loss for words. Although I faced technical difficulties and couldn’t finish the race last year, I’m overwhelmed with pride that my dedication and training have paid off, leading to a victory at the TGR GT Cup Asia 2024,” said an emotional Aiman. “I’m excited to continue training with Andika Rama as we prepare for the Global Cup in Amsterdam. A heartfelt thank you to Toyota Motor Asia for this incredible opportunity!”

“I’m honored to be representing Asia once again this year! Competing against Taj Aiman was an incredible challenge—he’s an exceptional competitor. I pushed myself to the limit, but his consistency and strategy across all three races were unmatched. I’m excited to have him as a teammate as we prepare for the Global Finals, and I can’t wait to make Asia proud,” said Andika Rama, who’s representing Asia for the second time this year.

Special awards were also given in recognition of drivers’ exceptional performances, with Aiman cinching Driver of the Day, the Philippines’ Russel Reyes taking home Best Racecraft and Rama winning Fastest Race Pace.
