Solane, one of the country’s leading LPG provider, is once again igniting the vibrant atmosphere of Sinulog 2025. As the festival gears up for its grand celebration, Solane will actively join the celebration highlighting their participation with a colorful Solane.
“Sinulog is a time for celebration, and we at Solane want to ensure that everyone enjoys the festivities safely and responsibly”, said Dennis Palomar, Public Affairs Officer, Isla Group Corporation. “As we join the exciting parade of Sinulog Festival 2025 with our official Solane float, our company together with our partner distributors, will ensure to provide access to safe LPG use for restaurant owners and stalls. Solane fueled this thru more active selling and promos prior the festivity” added Palomar
For more than a decade, the company has been a consistent supporter of the festivities with a strong message of safety and responsibility. This year, organizers and the Cebu City government decided to hold the festival back at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC). The Grand Ritual Showdown, Street and Float Parade will take place on January 19, 2025.
The Sinulog Festival is among the most vibrant and celebrated festivals in the Philippines, rich in cultural and historical significance. Held annually on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City, the festival pays homage to the Santo Niño, or the Child Jesus, who was once regarded as the patron of Cebu Province.
Safe and Responsible LPG Use
Solane, through its partner distributors, ensures to provide access to safe LPG use for restaurant owners and stalls. The company will fuel this this thru more active selling and promos prior the festivity.
“We are thrilled to be part of the Sinulog Festival 2025. This partnership allows us to not only support this vibrant cultural celebration, but also to reinforce our commitment to safety and community well-being. We believe that by promoting the proper use of LPG, we can contribute to a more secure and enjoyable experience for all. Lagi naming sinasabi lalo na sa mga katulad nitong fiesta at may masayang celebration, pagdating sa inyong pagluluto at paghahanda ng pagkain, Solane LPG na ang bahala sa cooking ninyo basta mag-enjoy lang kayo. Dahil sa Solane, sigurado kayong may peace of mind,” said Palomar.
Pop sensation JADE’s much awaited song ‘IT girl‘ marks the beginning of 2025.
“IT girl” is a bold, tongue-in-cheek, electro pop song with a lot of bass. The incisive lyrics, which were written by JADE with Cirkut and Lostboy (Charli XCX, Lady Gaga), capture her experiences in the music business and the frequently cruel and complicated nature of celebrity.
After being hinted at near the conclusion of the ‘Angel of My Dreams’ music video, fans have been eagerly awaiting the raucous song, with many calling for its complete release.
JADE says: “IT girl is the c**nty little sister to ‘Angel of My Dreams’. There’s still so much that people don’t know about me, so I was eager to surprise people and poke the bear a bit. I have to write about what my experiences are. I’m not going to sugarcoat it. This is my reality.”
JADE finished 2024 by winning the Trailblazer Award at The Rolling Stone UK Awards and appearing on the cover of the magazine. She was also included on many of the end of year ‘Best Of’ lists. ‘Angel Of My Dreams’ was named the No.1 song of 2024 by DIY Magazine and a Top 10 song by The Guardian, DORK, Clash and NME. In addition Dazed named JADE video of the year.
In terms of business, “Angel Of My Dreams” has also been a big success. With more than 80 million plays to date, the song debuted at No. 7 on the UK Official Singles Chart, making it the third-highest new entry by a British artist this year. The accompanying video has received 10 million views and was the top trending video on YouTube for 10 days. For two months, the song was in the Top 20 on the Official UK Singles Chart. ‘Midnight Cowboy’ is one of two additional tunes that JADE has released since then. Slick disco-tinged ‘Fantasy’ and a seductive, subtle bass-heavy hit about embracing your sexuality, with a video directed by the legendary David LaChapelle.
With the opening of their newest entertainment and live podcast center, The KoolPals are further promoting stand-up comedy. The KoolPals Bar, the go-to spot for comedy lovers seeking an exciting fusion of live performances, interactive podcasts, and top-notch food, has been formally introduced by the renowned comedy group.
For the folks behind The KoolPals, the concept of opening their own place has always been a dream. “Ever since we started our group, we have always dreamed of having our own bar,” admits James Caraan, one of the founding members of the group. “The podcast has played a huge role in promoting stand-up comedy, and it’s amazing to see how it has helped us achieve this dream. Now, we have a venue where we can expand our reach and share our humor with even more people.”
The evening was jam-packed with fun and laughter as we witnessed and listened with them. It was such an unforgettable night for me, just pure giggles, and I was truly entertained at how simply they presented themselves and cracked those witty lines. They are indeed true performers.
A Collective Vision
The KoolPals Bar isn’t just another comedy venue; it’s the realization of a collective vision by The KoolPals’ dedicated hosts and their loyal fans. Key to its creation was JJ Tan, the Managing Director of Century Park Hotel Manila, who helped provide the space to build this comedy sanctuary. Together with the five hosts of the acclaimed podcast, who have brought the comedy scene to new heights, the bar is set to become a place where both fans and comedians can truly connect.
“The fans who believed in us have been a major driving force in making this happen,” Caraan adds. “The KoolPals Bar is a place to showcase our comedy, where everyone can enjoy a laugh and experience something unique in Manila’s entertainment scene.”
The KoolPals Bar sets itself apart from contemporaries as it is the only venue in the Philippines that offers both a live podcast studio and a comedy bar all in one place. Guests will not only get to watch live recordings of The KoolPals, the popular comedy podcast, but they will have the chance to enjoy the best of local Pinoy stand-up comedy, featuring the genre’s finest performers.
“This is a comedian’s playground,” says GB Labrador, one of the pioneering members. “It’s a space where good food, drinks, and comedy come together. It’s where people can relax, laugh, and make memories.”
Partnership with Century Park Hotel Manila
Collaborating with Century Park Hotel Manila ensures that The KoolPals Bar provides more than just laughter and entertainment. The food and service meet international standards, delivering an unforgettable dining experience to complement the show.
Although The KoolPals is known primarily for stand-up comedy, The KoolPals Bar is setting the stage for a diverse range of comedic experiences. The venue has already launched a new format with the Noontime Show, airing every Sunday at 4 PM, filled with fun games and unfiltered humor. This show is also broadcast live via Facebook and YouTube, allowing fans worldwide to tune in.
Big Plans for 2025
Looking ahead to 2025, The KoolPals is gearing up for an exciting year. A nationwide tour will bring their live shows to cities across the Philippines, including Pampanga, Baguio, Cebu, and more. The tour will culminate in the recording of their very first comedy special, which they hope to stream on global platforms in the near future. As for the podcast, they are working on securing top TV comedians as guests in response to fan requests.
Apart from the tour, The KoolPals has teamed up with Arcade Film Factory, one of the leading production teams in the Philippines, to help create their first-ever comedy special. Directed by the award-winning Marius Talampas, the special will showcase the best of Filipino humor that could rival even their foreign counterparts.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Arcade Film Factory for this project,” shares Labrador. “They believe in our comedy, and with their expertise, we’re confident that our special will be not only funny but also world-class. This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a groundbreaking year.”
The KoolPals celebrate their rise from modest beginnings as they look back on 2024. “We started recording in a small room with equipment we bought from Raon,” Caraan discloses. A dream come true, we now have our own bar and studio. Another significant accomplishment for us is that, after more than 750 episodes, we were named the Philippines’ Best Comedy Podcast on Spotify. We are eager to see where 2025 will lead us, and the community we have created has been amazing.
The adventure is only the beginning for the KoolPals crew. Labrador promises that every show at The KoolPals Bar, whether it’s a stand-up performance or a live podcast recording, will be funnier than the one before it.
The rising OPM star drops his official debut album
Through Sony Music Entertainment, Filipino singer-songwriter Paolo Sandejas publishes his much awaited debut album, the world is so small.
The eight-track album is a deep dive into love, grief, and self-discovery, showcasing the beauty in life’s emotional upheaval, especially during a person’s formative twenties.
Sandejas claims that The World Is So Small is an anthology of moments that reflect the complex network of human interactions rather than merely an album. Sandejas utilizes his music to examine how our common experiences bind us together, from short-lived romances to long-lasting heartbreaks and the silent hope that endures through it all.
“This album is divided into four thematic arcs, each representing a different phase of a relationship,” Sandejas explains. “The first two songs cover excitement of a honeymoon phase. The next two dive into mental health. The third set focuses on the challenges of long-distance relationships, and the final set covers the moving on stage and finding peace. Through these stories, the album paints a picture of interconnectedness—how no matter where we are in life, we are always tethered to one another.”
The record’s narrative follows a fictional young couple as they navigate the complexities of a romantic relationship, with Sandejas weaving bits and pieces of his own experiences into the songs. “It’s funny cause I can always say the songs are about the character’s experiences not mine,” shares the Sway act. “But I’d be lying in some ways because these songs are so closely based on my own life. That extra layer of ‘protection’ though helped me get even more vulnerable in the songs.”
The title track, in particular, conveys Sandejas’ vision of a classic coming-of-age love story, a cinematic moment where the couple parts ways, leaving the listener with a haunting sense of nostalgia. “When I was writing it, I imagined the final scene of a love story, and this song playing as the couple went their separate ways. That visual really influenced the sound. It’s definitely the most unique song on the album, and I’m so proud of it.”
Musically, the world is so small blends Sandejas’ raw, vulnerable lyricism with an eclectic mix of indie pop, alternative rock, and stripped-down ballads. The album’s sound evolves organically, drawing on various genres and sonic inspirations to form a timeless, cohesive experience.
“I didn’t consciously set out to create a particular mood when writing the album,” Sandejas shares. “Considering we had the unique challenge of creating this album remotely with me in LA and my co-producer Xergio Ramos back in Manila, I really think we did a great job! It’s always a joy working with him and I’m so glad he did this album with me.”

With the release of her fifth studio album, Not That Girl, acclaimed singer-songwriter Barbie Almalbis enters a significant phase of her musical career. The album, which is currently available on all digital platforms, combines sonic innovation with introspection to provide Almalbis’ ever-evolving sound with a new, bold direction.
Themes of emotional recovery, resiliency, and the difficulties of managing mental health are explored in Not That Girl, which is very different from her earlier works. Almalbis tackles these topics with unvarnished honesty and sensitivity. This collection of songs breaks the taboo around stigmatized mental health issues and is more than just an artistic development; it is an honest exploration of the singer’s personal experience.
“This album was written during one of the most difficult periods of my life, yet it has become one of my favorites,” Almalbis shares. “The overarching themes are about holding on to faith through struggles, finding hope through surrender, and celebrating the joy that comes from love and friendship. I’ve always written from personal experience—often about heartbreak and unrequited love—but these songs are different, more about personal growth and emotional healing.”
Not That Girl reveals a deeper, more introspective side of Almalbis. In addressing these themes, she reveals a rare glimpse into her inner world, showing how songwriting became both a tool for processing her emotions and a source of solace.
“Writing these songs came naturally, almost out of necessity,” she reflects. “It was my way of processing my thoughts and emotions, of finding a way through my struggles. It helped me focus on the things that brought me hope, and I believe living out these words has played a big part in my own healing.”
She also posted an encouraging message of hope and support on Instagram a few weeks ago, reflecting on how music has turned her indescribable pain into meaningful art. “In the midst of the pain, my friends encouraged me to write. And so, I did. The songs came so naturally, almost effortlessly. I was reminded of the days when I was a teenager, overwhelmed by emotions, and the only way I could process them was to pour them into my writing. It felt like I was reconnecting with something deep within me.”
The album also marks a shift in Almalbis’ sonic direction, as she embraces a more adventurous and experimental sound. Collaborating with producer Nick Lazaro, Almalbis has pushed the boundaries of her music to new and exciting territories.
“Working with Nick has been an incredible experience,” she says. “He’s taken the music and my performance to a place I’d always wanted to go but didn’t know how to reach. His raw, unfiltered approach to recording is refreshing, and I’ve learned so much from him—lessons I’m now applying to our live shows as well.”
Almalbis will hold a private album launch party at Sari-Sari Cocktails in Makati City on the day of the album’s release to commemorate the release of Not That Girl. An extended live set will be performed that evening, combining new songs from Not That Girl with fan favorites. Kai del Rio, Bird, Twin Lobster, and Johnoy Danao are among the most exciting musical artists in the Philippines that will be joining her for this special occasion.
On Sunday, January 19, 2025, Barbie Almalbis will make her live debut of the new songs at the Music Lane Festival in Okinawa, Japan.
Barbie Almalbis’ Not That Girl is currently accessible on all digital streaming services across the globe.

Rogie Royce Caradang was a college student with a dream and a global outlook prior to receiving the Ajinomoto Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship. After graduating, he was certain that he wanted to continue his education and learn as much as he could about science.
Making an impact in the scientific community was Rogie Royce’s greatest ambition. Additionally, he was looking for guidance before joining the Ajinomoto Foundation Scholarship Program. He applied and completed his postgraduate studies in Japan after realizing he was a good fit and a great achiever seeking to expand his horizons.
His time in Japan changed his life. However, Carandang was aware that his progress would only be as great as his willingness to put in the necessary effort. However, by studying overseas and obtaining a fresh perspective on his goals, he was able to make significant breakthroughs that could potentially result in the treatment of diseases like cancer.
Carandang started his Masteral Degree in Aquatic Natural Products Chemistry at the University of Tokyo in April 2013 and finished it in March 2016. He was able to publish his research in an international journal and parlayed his success into a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Connecticut Health. His journey exemplifies the Ajinomoto Postgraduate Scholarship’s potential to create global impact while shaping professional and personal growth.
“This scholarship is not just financial support—it is a transformative opportunity to broaden your horizons, advance your career, and make a lasting impact in your field.” says the now world-renowned Research Fellow.Carandang attributes his success to hard-work, finding the right focus, and then taking that leap off a springboard into more than he had ever thought he could achieve.
Carandang’s international prominence was facilitated by the Ajinomoto Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship program. It is now his responsibility to demonstrate his abilities to the world. Those objectives now are far more ambitious than he could have ever dreamed of when he was a college student. As a scientist, all he could hope for was to see new problems, new answers, and new dreams throughout his post-graduate studies.
The Ajinomoto Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship is a program designed to fund postgraduate studies at prestigious Japanese universities through cultural immersion. Deserving Filipino students wishing to pursue master’s degrees in engineering, chemistry, human nutrition, or food science and technology are supported by this scholarship. Applications for the 2026 cycle of grants are currently being accepted by the Program.
