Use Listerine to combat oral aging

According to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Oral Health Report 2022, almost 46% of people 30 years of age and older have gum disease. This is one of the most common oral diseases affecting middle-aged adults and is the leading cause of tooth loss. In addition, we are told that, like our parents and grandparents, we are destined to lose all of our teeth as we age. But did you realize that this can be avoided? By practicing regular dental hygiene, you can maintain a healthy mouth as you get older. The earlier you establish suitable oral hygiene practices, such as brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash, the easier it will be to avoid costly dental procedures and more significant oral health issues as you age.

“The dental profession strives to reduce the consequences of oral health disease in the country. A lot don’t know that as we age, oral health problems become more common. These can take a toll on a person, causing mental distress, impaired social function, and worsening health condition. I’m very happy that Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health Philippines is spreading awareness with the advocacy of “Mouth Aging.” Just remember, the progression of oral health diseases as you age can be hindered with regular visits to the dentists and by practicing proper oral hygiene: brushing, flossing, and rinsing with a mouthwash.” Dr. Jose Angelo “Gelo” Militante, oral and maxillofacial surgeon and immediate past president of Philippine Dental Association.

Last April 13, 2023, Listerine held a talk on the significance of protecting your mouth as you age. It was moderated by Listerine brand ambassador Macoy Dubs, and it featured special guests Dr. Jose Angelo “Gelo” Militante, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and immediate past president of the Philippine Dental Association, who spoke about the aging mouth and the need to act immediately to improve overall oral health, and Dr. Ashita Bhatia, associate director research & development for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health APAC, who shared the science behind Listerine and how it is the best mouthwash partner for people who are experiencing mouth problems as they age.

“We at Listerine envision a world where everyone, everywhere realizes the transformative impact of good oral health. We are committed in helping every Filipino enjoy healthier mouths for longer by raising awareness on the impact of aging on the mouth, and educating on the essential role of mouthwash and how Listerine helps #FightMouthAging”, says marketing manager for Listerine Philippines, Miguel Gamboa.

Learning how to get your mouth clean with a brush, floss, and rinse routine may be as simple as it sounds but maintaining a consistent oral care regimen is a different story. We all know that brushing alone only reaches 25% of your mouth, and that it leaves behind oral problem-causing germs that damage your oral health. “As you age, your body’s ability to fight germs and infections weakens, making you prone to oral health problems. Using a mouthwash like Listerine is essential as you age because it reaches the whole mouth and gives you protection from these germs. Just swish two times daily after every brush.” says associate director for research & development for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health APAC, Dr. Ashita Bhatia.

With Listerine Total Care Zero it helps you #FightMouthAging because it gives up to 24-hour complete germ defense to fight cavities, plaque, and gum problems. It also has four essential oils, namely thymol, eucalyptol, menthol, and methyl salicylate which has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, offers lasting freshness, to help keep your teeth and gums healthy, even as you age. Aside from this, Listerine Total Care Zero has zero alcohol for a mild taste and contains fluoride to strengthen enamel and give protection against cavities.

If you want to have a healthy mouth for the rest of your life, making an investment in your oral health is essential. It’s important to follow the proper procedures every day to care for our general dental health, which includes following the recommended brushing, flossing, and Listerine use routine.

Listerine may be found on the official Johnson & Johnson Shopee and Lazada pages, as well as in Watsons both online and in-store. Visit www.listerine.com.ph and follow Listerine on Facebook at @ListerinePhilippines to learn more about the product.

With LifeWave’s wearable health solutions, you can patch your way to wellness

A company is gaining traction in the health and wellness industry because to its incredibly distinctive goods. LifeWave is a cutting-edge technological firm whose main goal is to enhance everyone’s health and wellbeing in the Philippines without the need of pharmaceuticals or chemicals. Wearable health patches from LifeWave increase cellular activity by using light.

David Schmidt, LifeWave’s Founder and CEO

David Schmidt, the founder and CEO of LifeWave, created this technology. In 2002, Schmidt established LifeWave as a research organization based on a recently patented method for improving health using a brand-new type of phototherapy he had created.

The United States Navy recognized Schmidt’s innovative work and invited him to join an elite research team that developed mini-subs or midget submarines. Schmidt attempted to help the crew of the mini-sub stay awake without the use of drugs. He investigated natural methods for increasing the body’s energy. Three years of research led to the creation of the Energy Enhancer Patch, the first LifeWave prototype.

LifeWave’s flagship product is X39®, a stem cell activator patch. “Stem cells are the foundation of health. If you have less stem cells, you will get sick. It is your primary source of defense. As we grow older, the number of stem cells in our body decreases,” said Dang Gilera, LifeWave Philippines General Manager.

She added that when you place a LifeWave X39® patch on the recommended acupressure points on your body, it will help grow your own stem cells. Most X39® product users attest that you feel the effects right away.

“What is nice about this product is that you wear it and you do not drink or take it. This is not a drug, not a pill, no chemicals added. It is a patented product,” Gilera said.

Immediate success

LifeWave was launched in August 2004 and was an immediate success, generating US$17 million in sales in its first year. Since then, LifeWave has grown into a multinational corporation with offices in the United States, Ireland, Taiwan and distribution in over 100 countires.

LifeWave made its way to the Philippines back in 2018 with a pre-launch in December. The grand launch happened in March 2019. However, the COVID-19 happened a year after and LifeWave’s plans had to be set aside.

The company’s top-selling product is LifeWave X39®. This cutting edge technology solution offers health benefits like instant pain relief, reduced inflammation, helps wound healing, energy and vitality, metal clarity, boosts athletic performance, faster recovery from exercise, and improved skin look.

In addition to X39®, Schmidt also created X49TM, Energy Enhancer®, IceWave®, Silent Nights®, Y-Age Aeon®, Y-Age® Glutathione, Y-Age® Carnosine, SP6® Complete, AcuLife, and AlavidaTM Regenerating Trio LifeWave’s skin care products.

CELEBRATING TIBAY: Bear Brand Batang Matibay 2022 Winners show tenacity in the face of the toughest obstacles

Regardless of social background, the majority of Filipino families hold the belief that education is crucial to a person’s prosperity. Bear Brand is making every effort to motivate and encourage kids to dream big and achieve a better future for themselves and their families as they adjust to the new normal after overcoming the uncertainties and challenges brought on by the epidemic.

They have nevertheless demonstrated their desire to study and deal with life’s challenges in spite of these difficulties. Since 2018, Bear Brand has recognized these young people’s fortitude and

Profiles of the 10 Batang Matibay Awardees

Student Area Tibay Story
Jerald J. Pelonita REGION VII / Guihulingan / Mandi-I Elementary School Despite being born without arms, he was hailed as Champion for the Division level National Art Contest

because of this commendable skill in drawing and painting using his foot. He uses his talent and skills in drawing and painting to create harmonious moments

with others.

He advocates against bullying which he personally experiences to encourage and inspire children with or without disability to come out from their shells and radiate positivity in their hardest or saddest moment.

Jessca Solania REGION XII / North Cotabato / Renibon Elementary School

Jessca is a student at a last mile school in North Cotabato. She walks 8km and crosses 8 rivers just to go to school. She once had to cross the river despite strong currents, and she was found crying by the teacher – not because she was scared, but because she lost the only pair of slippers she has and did not want to miss school because of it.

At her age she carries additional responsibilities to help their family because they don’t have her father by their side. Because of financial scarcity, there are days they would survive through boiled bananas for meal.

Despite these challenges, she shows resilience by exceling in school and extra curriculars.

Daryl Ashlei Teves REGION V / Catanduanes / Virac Pilot Elementary School

She is an inspiration to the school/community as a consistent honor student since she was in 1st grade –

excelling even in extra-curriculars (local/international math competitions).

In addition to the brunt of the pandemic, the onslaught of super typhoon Rolly has greatly affected the educational system in Catanduanes – houses were destroyed, including the residence of Ashlei’s

family. But no matter how many storms she encounters, she always faces it head on. In fact, despite her personal struggles brought by the typhoon, not only did she continue to excel in school, she even helped in a relief drive in an orphanage, and also helped to tutor kids who were having difficulties in modular learning in Math. One of her tutees said that after being taught by Ashlei, Math became their favorite subject

Isabelle Lara Miranda REGION IV-A / Laguna / San Pedro Central Elementary School

Isabelle does not allow her epilepsy to get the best of her. When she started schooling, she had difficulty writing as a side effect of phenobarbital, an antiseizure medication. To compensate for her slow writing and keep up with her classmates, she would usually skip lunch only to end up still being the last to finish. Some classmates bullied her, construing her feeble writing skills and occasional staring (seizure episode) as a sign of being inferior. However, she was relentless with her effort to prove herself. She remained positive until one day her hard work paid off, and she was finally recognized as one of the most outstanding students in class. She also became a champion of an oratorical contest despite going through an emotional crisis. Her terminally ill father was confined in a public hospital at the time, and eventually passed away days after the competition.

She is always eager to take challenges and new tasks each time she shows a firm resolve to succeed. She carries an unfaltering faith and strong determination to overcome obstacles.

Matt Jayrus Evangelista REGION IV-A / Batangas / Tibig Elementary School

He grew up without a father, so her mother has to work abroad to support the family. Whenever he wants to talk to her, he would need to climb a mountain to get signal.

He tries to help support their family by helping with little chores (creating broom sticks, collecting scraps as pig’s feed). While doing this, he still extends his help to his classmates who he helps with their studies.

He may have experienced some defeat in school competitions, but it doesn’t stop him from trying again. Rather it inspires him to be better “Sa susunod na pagkakataon, makakaya ko na yun.”

Cryzon Jay Ambinang REGION XII / North Cotabato / Renibon Elementary School Cryzon belongs to the Manobo tribe who lives in a secluded area in a mountainside in North Cotabato. He walks more than 2 hours to get to one of DepEd’s last mile schools. Despite his own personal struggles, he excels in school and extracurricular activities, which includes being Vice President of SPG in their

school that leads several projects in their school. One of those is the distribution of modules in his community and organizing feeding program for the

Manobos.

Sean Geralyn Mara

REGION III / Bulacan /

Muzon Elementary School

Sean Geralyn has an older brother with autism, she personally takes care of her Diko and even researches some tutorial on YouTube on how to handle autism spectrum disorder cases. Because of her love for her brother she tried to teach him how to read, write, draw, and other basic skills. She wanted her brother to feel that he is an important member of

their family.

Xoann Kyle Ocampo REGION IV-A / Laguna / Chrysanthemum Village Elementary School

His mother lost her job due to the pandemic which affected their state of life. Instead of being sad and despair, he came up with the idea of putting up their own snack bar to earn extra income. He’s been very involved throughout the process of building it – starting from brainstorming the menu, up to cooking and packing of orders. He himself created the design and logo of their snack bar. This micro business helpED them get back on their feet again. It also allowed Kyle to have his own computer that he uses on his study and journalism training/competition.

He can break barriers because he is approachable and friendly. He can make others see their talents and skills because he is not afraid that someone can be better than him.

Marchilyn Guinahon Region X / Misamis Oriental / Lantad Integrated School Marchilyn was infected with polio virus when she was little. Because of this, she is no longer able to walk. Her mother acts her feet in going to and from the school. Her struggles in life made her strong and

dream to finish her studies to lift her family from poverty. Her willingness to go to school every day despite her condition, during pre-pandemic is a testimony to how strong her determination is in

pursuing her education.

Her positive outlook in life despite her physical struggles is very commendable. She has written 2 poems entitled ” Sa Gabay ng Tanging Ina” and “Physical Disability Never Stops me from being

complete” depicting her life experiences.

Mark John Alayon REGION VI / Roxas / Pres Manuel A Roxas Memorial School North He is consistently chosen as a homeroom officer and fulfills his roles beyond satisfaction. He also joins programs that the barangay/school are sponsoring.

His mother is a cancer patient while his father is a construction worker. All his siblings want to attend school but few of them have the opportunity. Seeing everyday struggles torments his young heart but this inspires him to continue learning – finish his studies, and help his family in the future. He helps his father raise livestock, plant vegetables for sale and consumption, do household chores while attending healthcare of his mother, and studying.
