The 2025 Calendar Girl Ginebra San Miguel is Asia’s Limitless Star

The world’s best-selling gin manufacturer, Ginebra San Miguel, celebrated the 190th year of its flagship brand by announcing Asia’s Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose as the 2025 and 34th Ginebra San Miguel Calendar Girl. The media and other guests attended the launch, which took place at the Diamond Hotel in Manila.

The epithet ‘Asia’s Limitless Star’ was bestowed upon Julie Anne San Jose, a Filipina singer, songwriter, actress, host, instrumentalist, and television personality, for her almost endless array of skills. Julie Anne has consistently reinvented herself for her fans since 2005 by adhering to her artistic vision and succeeding in a cutthroat industry with her enthusiasm and “never-say-die” character, just like Ginebra San Miguel has endured changing times and stayed relevant to customers.

It was such an awesome event. We enjoyed everything, including the scrumptious food, great performances, and of course the revelation of their newest calendar girl of the year. Julie Anne truly deserves to be this year’s calendar feature, as she carries on her grace and firmness that really define the brand. I’m also glad to meet her and have her insight regarding this opportunity.

“Her dedication to her craft and resilience in the industry mirrors Ginebra San Miguel’s 190-year legacy of excellence, making her the perfect choice for our next Calendar Girl,” says GSMI Marketing Manager Ron Molina.

With Obra Maestra (Masterpiece) as the theme for the 2025 calendars, the multi-awarded singer brings to life six visual compositions, creating a stunning collection of timeless masterpieces.

“For 190 years, Ginebra San Miguel has crafted masterpieces in every bottle, offering only the finest in distilled spirits. Our next calendar continues to uphold GSMI’s heritage of excellence with a tribute to classic art, reflecting the same dedication to quality craftsmanship that has made our gin popular and loved by many since 1834,” Mr. Molina added.

A staple in Kapuso musical and variety shows with her show stopping song and dance numbers, Julie Anne San Jose is currently the judge of The Voice Kids Philippines and the host of singing competition The Clash.

JULIE ANNE IN OBRA MAESTRA

Ginebra San Miguel has always been known for its iconic label by National Artist Fernando Amorsolo. In this first layout, she embodies the courage and determination of a fearless Filipina ready to face any challenge.

Inspired by this timeless masterpiece, Julie Anne is portrayed as a muse and goddess, showcasing her artistry and elegance in five other classic artworks.

Dressed in white, the second layout depicts Julie Anne as “Galatea,” Pygmalion’s sculpture of his ideal woman brought to life by Aphrodite. This symbolizes creativity and passion in art, much like how GSM Blue Flavors can be creatively mixed and matched to create a unique and personalized drink.

The third layout features the Grape Escape cocktail mix, “Paris Opera Terpsichore,” showcasing Julie Anne as the muse of lyric, poetry, and dance. Julie Anne is truly elegant in this layout, just like how premium and sophisticated Primera Light Brandy is.

In the fourth layout, Julie Anne is portrayed as “Diana,” the huntress, symbolizing independence and strength. Showcasing Kula Orange Fizz cocktail mix, Julie Anne is sure to ignite a bold new strength to Vino Kulafu drinkers. Julie Anne felt a particular connection to this layout among all the layouts. “Aside from having an earthy set-up because I’m a nature lover, the bow and arrow in this layout resonate with me as an artist. It symbolizes my constant pursuit of improvement, my quest to explore new horizons and the world further.”

In the fifth and sixth layouts, Julie Anne embodies the timeless beauty of “The Birth of Venus” and “La Grande Odalisque.” Symbolizing beauty, grace, and quality, these iconic paintings invite consumers to savor the refined taste of GSM Premium Gin and Antonov Vodka, respectively.

As in previous years, the 2025 Ginebra San Miguel calendar features a QR code that consumers can scan using their smartphones to watch and learn more about Julie Anne’s signature cocktail mixes using Ginebra San Miguel products.

The new face of Ginebra San Miguel is also a certified gin enthusiast, with gin & tonic as her go-to cocktail. Julie Anne’s connection with Ginebra San Miguel is also deeply rooted in her personal history. “Growing up, I always saw my lolo drink Ginebra San Miguel. Ginebra has always been part of our lives for every gathering, whether Christmas, birthday parties, or just a simple celebration.”

As the new muse of Ginebra San Miguel, Julie Anne aims to inspire women and fans alike with her ‘ganado’ and ‘never-say-die’ attitude. Her journey demonstrates that success is built on hard work, passion, and resilience. She is truly a limitless icon who motivates others to pursue their dreams, embrace their individuality, and unlock their creative potential.

THE GINEBRA CALENDAR TRADITION

A significant aspect of GSMI’s past and a longstanding custom is the Ginebra San Miguel Calendar Girl. Models, TV and film actresses, and beauty queens who have achieved success in their various industries have graced the Ginebra San Miguel calendar since its beginning in 1988. Marian Rivera (2009 and 2014), Anne Curtis (2011), Solenn Heusaff (2012), Pia Wurtzbach (2019), Miss Universe 2015, Sanya Lopez (2020), Christelle Abello (2021), Chie Filomeno (2022), Yassi Pressman (2023), and Heaven Peralejo (2024) were listed among them.

Ginebra San Miguel, the best-selling gin in the world, is made by GSMI. Other high-quality distilled spirits from GSMI include Gin & Tea, Ginebra San, GSM Blue Light Gin, GSM Blue Mojito, GSM Blue Margarita, GSM Blue Gin Pomelo, and GSM Blue Lychee Martini. Archangel Reserve Premium Dry Gin, Miguel Premium Gin, 1834 Premium Distilled Gin, Antonov Vodka, Freedom Island Light Rum, Primera Light Brandy, and Vino Kulafu, the top Chinese wine in the Philippines.

The beverage firm facilitated the collecting and sorting of used PET bottles, educating festival attendees about appropriate waste management methods in collaboration with Yuhum Foundation, the festival organizer, and Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc.

Coca-Cola Philippines urged festival goers to dispose of their empty PET bottles at the Coca-Cola bottle counter and The Tindahan Extra Mile (TEM) exchange booths at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) in order to promote bottle collection and segregation. Reaching a Significant Milestone at the Six-Month Mark, SariCycle®

Ajinomoto, BEST, and Quezon City’s LGU share the SariCycle® journey from its conception to where it is today

L-R: Johnkarl Manimbo – APC Sustainability Specialist, Japhet Bulingit – Corporate Sustainability Associate (BEST), Jonalyn Peñas – Business Development Officer (BEST), Andrea Villaroman – Head of QC CCESD, Ernie Carlos – APC Chief Sustainability Officer, Engr. Ceidge Razon – Corporate Sustainability Manager (BEST), Claire Vinarao – Chief, Adaptation Division (CCESD), Maribel Marquez – Acting Chief, Resource Efficiency Section (CCESD) and Kirstoff Buyoc – APC Sustainability Executive.

The Quezon City Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department (QC CCESD), Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies (BEST), and Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) are pleased to commemorate the SariCycle® Program’s six-month milestone. Since its debut in January 2024, this innovative program has successfully gathered over 4,000 kg of single-use plastics (SUPs) and has attracted over 600 active participants.

SariCycle® is a collaboration between sustainability and waste management. With an emphasis on gathering and recycling single-use plastic in smaller areas, the program was created to help address the growing issue of plastic waste. This started in a few areas in Quezon City where there are a lot of sari-sari shops. “SariCyclers,” as the participants are called, are rewarded with exclusive product bundles from Ajinomoto Philippines. Additionally, they receive Environmental Points (EPs), which may be exchanged for cash at participating merchants.

Among the participants are key members of Quezon City’s livelihood programs, including beneficiaries of the “Tindahan ni Mayor Joy” initiative and persons with disabilities (PWD) beneficiaries. The collective effort of these SariCyclers has resulted in significant strides in promoting environmental responsibility and awareness.

During the six-month evaluation meeting held at the QC CCESD office, representatives from APC, BEST, and QC CCESD, headed by Ms. Andrea Villaroman, were all in attendance to share and update the program’s current achievements and the challenges ahead. APC’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Ernie Carlos, shared how grateful APC is to the community for their unwavering support and emphasized the importance of the collaboration between the public and private sectors.

“The SariCycle® Program is testament to the positive and impactful effects we can achieve for the good of our environment when we all work towards a more sustainable future. Indeed, we take inspiration from the communities in Quezon City and our partners at BEST, when it comes to being stewards of the environment,” Carlos said.

To acknowledge the company’s role in this environmental effort, Ajinomoto Philippines was honored at BEST’s 25th Anniversary celebration on September 16, 2024, at Crowne Plaza Manila. BEST, a key player in solid waste management in the Philippines, shared how proud they are to have worked with APC, and its dedication to environmental sustainability and awarded the company a plaque of appreciation for its active role in the SariCycle® Program. APC’s Sustainability Executive, Kirstoff Buyoc, accepted the award for Ajinomoto Philippines. He also served as co-presenter for the recognition given to the top-performing SariCyclers during the event.

Key figures in the Circular Economy movement, such as Senator Cynthia Villar, the primary author of the Extended Producers Responsibility (EPR) Law, were also present at the anniversary celebration. This incident demonstrated how crucial public-private sector cooperation is to advancing sustainability measures and bringing about positive environmental change.

Through its continuous activities, Ajinomoto Philippines is steadfast in its commitment to encouraging environmentally conscious behavior and responsible consumption. APC is eager to grow the SariCycle® Program and will keep taking the lead on their projects with a positive attitude. In keeping with their pledge to promote the “Eat Well, Live Well” lifestyle, they will collaborate closely with their partners to create a more sustainable future for everybody.

The Jollibee Group emphasizes the importance of smallholder farmers working together to create a sustainable supply chain

The Jollibee Group, through its Farmer Entrepreneurship Program (FEP) in partnership with the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF), is reinforcing sustainable business practices and contributes to the improvement of the economy by empowering smallholder farmers. Joseph Tanbuntiong, CEO of Jollibee Group Philippines highlighted during his speech at the inaugural Agriculture and Food Security Summit that sourcing directly from farmer cooperatives has become a key procurement growth strategy of the company.

The Jollibee Group  is promoting sustainable business practices and enabling smallholder farmers to boost the economy through its Farmer Entrepreneurship Program (FEP), which it runs in collaboration with the Jollibee Group Foundation, Inc. (JGF).

By giving these farmers access to direct markets, resources, and training, FEP establishes long-term partnerships with them in the supply chain of the Jollibee Group. This program helps Filipino farmers make a better living while simultaneously bolstering the company’s procurement strategy.

“In our pursuit of a sustainable supply chain and our commitment to inclusive business practices, we had to take a close look at how our company can be part of the solution in improving the plight of the farmers.   This is why our social development arm, the Jollibee Group Foundation, created the Farmer Entrepreneurship Program,” said Joseph Tanbuntiong, CEO of Jollibee Group Philippines. Tanbuntiong made the remarks during his speech at the Makati Business Club’s Agriculture and Food Security Summit last September 16.

With the theme, “Food is Everyone’s Business,” the summit brought together key figures to address pressing food security issues and to empower the farming sector through collaboration. Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel delivered a keynote on the Nine-Point Plan of the government.

Sustainable Procurement in Action

JGF signed a Memorandum of Understanding to join forces with MBC and other companies to work together in empowering farmer cooperatives to achieve a sustainable supply chain.

Jollibee Group brands, including Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, and Mang Inasal, source various vegetables—such as onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers—directly from FEP farmers. In 2023, 24% of Jollibee Group’s onion supply came from FEP farmers, with plans to increase this to 33% by end of 2024. This sustainable approach ensures a reliable supply while supporting environmental and economic sustainability.

“Intending to strengthen our partnership with them, our procurement team has committed to prioritizing sourcing produce from the FEP farmers to ensure cost leadership, and supply resiliency, and contribute to the development of the local economy,” added Tanbuntiong.

Empowering Farmers Through FEP

Since its launch in 2008, FEP has organized over 1,000 farmers into 30 groups across 16 localities. These farmers have supplied more than 11 million kilograms of vegetables to the Jollibee Group, generating PHP 500 million in sales. Beyond procurement, FEP trains farmers in agro-entrepreneurship, helping them operate as business partners. The program ensures that farmers meet stringent quality standards, such as Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PhilGAP) certification. Kalasag Multipurpose Cooperative, a key FEP farmer group, became the first onion cooperative in the Philippines to achieve a PhilGAP certification in 2017.

Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainability

FEP’s success is built on strong partnerships with local government units, microfinance institutions and cooperatives, the Department of Agriculture (DA) and academic institutions. Recently, JGF signed a three-year agreement with the DA to train more farmers nationwide in value chain development, further scaling the program.

“Our work with farmers has not been just about procurement. It was a collaborative effort in promoting innovation, process improvement, and benchmarking best practices or new technology in agricultural value chain management. This collaboration across cross-functional teams within Jollibee Group and other like-minded groups has fostered shared responsibility,” said Tanbuntiong.

During the inaugural Makati Business Club’s Agriculture and Food Security Summit, Jollibee Group Foundation President Gisela Tiongson highlighted the need for farmers to earn profitably to make agriculture an appealing long-term career including the youth.

At the summit, Gisela Tiongson, President of JGF, emphasized the importance of building strong farmer cooperatives that go beyond financial services to include consolidation, marketing, and other value-adding activities. “Most farmers are not formally trained as entrepreneurs, so they need support to put in place the needed financial, human resource, and enterprise system,” she said.

Tiongson highlighted the need for farmers to earn profitably to make agriculture an appealing long-term career. “The goal is for farmers’ children to say, ‘I will stay in this industry because I can earn well for my family.’”

Transformative Impact

FEP has changed farmers’ lives by giving them access to financial services, steady incomes, and better living conditions. The program has also given farmers access to cold storage and warehousing facilities with the assistance of partners, allowing them to expand their businesses sustainably.

“Reflecting on the past 16 years of Jollibee Group and Jollibee Group Foundation working with cooperatives and farmers, I am reminded of the incredible power of participation and inclusion —what can be achieved when we come together, united by a shared purpose. Our experience with FEP and the farmer cooperatives demonstrate that meaningful change is not only possible but sustainable.” concluded Tanbuntiong.

Jollibee Group Intends to Strengthen its Mangrove Reforestation Project Initiative with Employee Volunteers

Jollibee Group employees from various functions planted 1,500 mangrove propagules during a reforestation activity in Brgy. Guinsay, Danao City, Cebu, on August 10, 2024. The activity was held in celebration of the International Day for Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem.

Through its social development arm, the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF), the Jollibee Group  maintains its commitment to help mitigate the effects of climate change through ongoing mangrove reforestation projects led by committed employees from across the nation, with nearly 7,000 mangrove propagules planted to date.

Mangroves are essential for protecting coastal areas, halting erosion, and mitigating the effects of hurricane storm surges. Their extensive root systems serve as nurseries for a wide variety of species, such as fish, prawns, and crabs, in addition to stabilizing and constructing soils. Additionally, the restoration of mangroves improves marine life and local ecosystems, which contributes to the preservation of food security and the livelihoods of local fishermen.

Rehabilitating mangrove ecosystems supports sustainable aquaculture practices by creating breeding grounds for fish and crustaceans. This can lead to improved yields in coastal fisheries, providing food and income.

The ongoing project forms part of the Jollibee Group’s global sustainability agenda dubbed “Joy for Tomorrow.” Under its Planet pillar, the company has set goals and initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly SDG 2 Zero Hunger.

Mangroves protect coastal areas by reducing erosion and absorbing storm surges during hurricanes.

The Jollibee Group has supported the planting of close to 4,000 mangrove propagules in 2023, with the support of partners, such as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and local government units (LGUs). It remains committed to sustaining the project this year, planting 3,000 mangrove propagules thus far.

Employee engagement

Jollibee Group employees from different functions and business units together with JGF held a series of planting activities along the coastlines of Alaminos, Pangasinan, Carmen, Cebu, and Lemery, Batangas this year.

JGF’s mangrove reforestation project aims to help restore the country’s mangrove ecosystem and build a resilient future for Filipinos living in coastal communities.

In celebration of the International Day for Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, 30 employee-volunteers from Jollibee Group’s commissary Zenith Foods have also planted 1,500 mangrove propagules during the reforestation activity held in Brgy. Guinsay, Danao City, Cebu last August 2024.

“Our employees have always played a big role in our environmental efforts, and it’s amazing to see them leading the charge in our mangrove reforestation project. Their leadership and participation reflect our vision of reaching out to communities and giving back to the environment,” said JGF President Gisela Tiongson. “We’re also grateful for the guidance from the DENR and the support of our LGU partners, which are key to ensuring the mangroves thrive. Moving forward, we’ll keep tapping into the power of employee volunteerism and working closely with our partners to inspire more people to be responsible stewards of the planet.”

JGF is committed to making this project a national success. The Foundation has already made plans to spearhead other mangrove tree planting events in Cavite and Bulacan during the last quarter of the year, thereby amplifying its influence on environmental preservation and community adaptability.

Lunchtime Crunch: Why School Lunches Are Important

Here are some creative food prep ideas from Ajinomoto to make for your kids

Once again, it’s that time of year when children have completed all the summertime activities they have been anticipating. Now that the new school year has begun, it’s time for them to return to the books and add more learning experiences at school. During their vacation, they already experimented with new interests and even tried activities that might soon become regular!

One of the challenges most parents face when classes resume would be having to think about what meals to prepare for their kids. Lunch is also one single meal kids shouldn’t miss, but sometimes, students who’ve had a long morning couldn’t help but look for something different other than their usual packed meals from the house. They may end up exploring different food choices in the canteen. Although flavorful, these meals may not include options that will contribute to the needed energy and nutrients these kids need to get through the day. Good thing, that with the resources we have including the vast information online, the usual questions of “what do I now prepare for my kids?”  no longer have to be left unanswered!

It’s time to make your kitchen the happiest and busiest part of your home as you can now recreate these amazing dishes and make them more special with Ajinomoto products. These are sure to turn packed lunches into packed excitement in a box!
