The Itchyworms Return to Singapore to Scratch an Itch

It has been almost a decade since The Itchyworms performed in the city-state of Singapore.
The now-iconic Marina Bay Sands was still under construction, for one, and Universal Studios
was probably still in blueprints.

The last time the band was there in 2008, they performed in a double bill with Marcus Adoro.
First, to serve as his backup band, playing songs from his seminal solo album, Markus Highway ,
and second, to play their own songs. The night ended in an epic extended jam on old
Eraserheads songs.

The years have only made the band’s wanderlust — itch, to borrow from their name — for
Singapura that much more insistent. The hunger for the hawker holy grail that is authentic laksa
is quite real, and so is the thirst for performing in front of new audiences, such as Singapore’s
music-loving folk, whether expats or locals.

Now, the band will finally get to scratch their decade-old itch for Singapore! The Itchyworms
have partnered with the awesome people of Pinoy-powered events group Requiem Rising SG,
to bring you an extraordinary one-night only musical experience. On 03 November, all paths
lead to Hero’s Bar. Whether your hankering is for food, drink, or really good music, it’s sure to
be satisfied.

Let Your Child’s Imagination Run Free for the Holloween Outfit

Halloween is a celebration observed mostly every countries on the eve of October 31 and is fast approaching now. Just like me I was able to experienced the halloween party in Japan. Everyone here wearing  different costumes like zombies or different scary costumes everywhere even their riding in trains or walking around. So you know what this means—it’s once again the season that you and your kids get a legit excuse to dress up as imaginatively as they want. Whether it’s the annual village trick-or-treating, or an all-out Halloween party at school, you and your little ones should not miss the chance to unleash all that creativity during this much-anticipated time of the year.

Let your creative juices run wild, think out-of-the-box, and be crafty as you can be! To help you out,  here are some fun and easy ideas that can be built on top of your kids regular OOTD’s for flexibility. Of course, the outfit wouldn’t be complete without their favorite pair of Skechers shoes: Skechers Lights, Skechers Twinkle Toes, and Skechers Sport!

THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME SUGGESTED OUTFITS FOR YOUR KIDS THIS HOLLOWEEN:

1) Pirate

The pirate costume is probably the easiest Halloween get-up you can do. Perfect for last-minute invites! All you have to do is prepare any (or all) of the following: a striped shirt, khaki bottoms, an eye patch, a pirate hat, a toy telescope, or even a cardboard ship. Just teach your kids your best pirate speak “yar-har-har” and they’re good to go! Of course, the ship may be a little slippery, so pair the costume with their trusty Skechers shoes with super comfy memory foam!

For Boys – LR: Hydrus Modern-Z (P3,195), Kinectors Thermovolt (P3,295) For Girls – LR: Diamond Runner (P3,295), Jumptech (P3,195)

2) Cutie Cat

There is something about little girls and kittens that just go together! Have your daughter choose her favorite dress, and spice it up with cat accents such as a cute and trendy cat headband and a furry tail. Her feline friend will sure be purr-oud upon seeing her hooman like that. Don’t forget to pamper those paws, err, feet by wearing her favorite comfy Skechers pair! The colorful shades and accents will also add to her already purr-fect outfit.

Luminators Luxe (P4,195)

3) Mighty Gladiator

Super strength, unleashed! Your young fighter needs a weapon—and his trusty Skechers is just what he needs to face the villains’ fury. It’s comfortable and durable for one whole day of play!

Luminators (P4,195)

4) Stylish Supergirl and Superman

Who says you need superpowers to fulfil your dream as a superhero? With Skechers sneakers with bright details and memory foam insoles, you’ll feel superhuman with super strength (and stylish looks!) with every move. Cape, optional.

For Girls: Jelly Beams (P3,495)

For Boys: E-Pro II –Show Stopper II (P3,795)

5) Sweet Unicorn and Elephant

If you haven’t noticed, stuffed animal headgear is super popular for kids and kids at heart alike and can be found in any toy store and department store. Let your child choose his or her preferred animal and have fun glamming it up through their clothes and shoes! For unicorns, the more colorful and sparkly, so try out something like this bejeweled pink slip-on from Skechers! As for the elephant, stick to neutral hued outfits. Of course, stomp the night away—the comfy way—with Skechers!

For Girls: Shuffles Trendy Twinkle (P3,495)

For Boys: Hyperjolt 2.0 – Tech Sprint (P3,295)

TOP 10 FINALISTS OF PHILPOP 2018 REVEALED

Every year I’m looking forward this annual music competition that has produced some of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed recording of the last five years which serving as breeding ground to artists who aren’t afraid to challenge songwriting tropes and reflect their truth.

PhilPop continues to provide a sustainable platform for amateur and professional composers to showcase exceptional songs from various genres and styles. This year PhilPop opened its doors to entries written in different languages, spanning across regions and cities ouside of Metro Manila.

Last October 17, 2018 at the Sunlife Amphitheater in BGC, Taguig was officially announced the top 10 finalists. Festival curator Mr. Moi Ortiz also awarded PhilPop Foundation headed by PhilPop Board Member and 2018 Festival Chairman Mr. Ryan Cayabyab, PhilPop Vice President Patrick C. Gregorio, and PhilPop Executive Director Dinah Remolacio a Certificate of Appreciation for continuously pushing the boundaries of Filipino music through regional inclusivity and for giving voice to homegrown talents who have the potential to make it big in the local music industry.

From the carefully handpicked roster of Top 30 semi-finalists, PhilPop has narrowed the selection to top 10. The finalists are judged according to the following criteria: 50% judges choice, 25% online streaming, and 25% Smart’s People Choice through SMS and Twitter’s conversational ad.

Here are the top 10 finalists with no particular order:

1) “Ako Ako,” composed by Jeriko Buenafe and interpreted by Feel Day feat, Hans Dimayuga

2) “Di Ko Man,” composed by Ferdinand Aragon and interpreted by Ferdinand Aragon himself;

3) “Isang Gabing Pag-Ibig,” composed by Carlo Angelo David and interpreted by Jex De Castro;

4) “Kariton,” composed by Philip Arvin Jarilla and interpreted by Acapellago;

5) “Laon Ako,” composed by Elmar Bolaño and Donel Trasporto Tigbauan and interpreted by Kakai Bautista;

6) “Loco De Amor!,” composed by Ed Miraflor Jr. and interpreted by BennyBunnyBand;

7) “Nanay Tatay,” composed by Chud Festejo and interpreted by Chud Festejo;

8) “Pilipit,” composed by Sean Gabriel Cedro and John Ray Reodique and interpreted by Julian Trono;

9) “Tama Na,” composed by Michael Rodriguez and Jeanne Columbine Rodriguez and interpreted by Katrina Velarde;

10) “Yun Tayo” composed by Donalyn Onilongo and interpreted by Gracenote

This year’s finalists offer a diverse crop of entries that represent different musical styles, ranging from contemporary hit music to folk, latin-flavored pop to R&B/soul, rock to easy listening music. Instead of focusing on personalities, the latest edition banks on envelope-pushing compositions that have the potential to penetrate the local music market and create a lasting impression to the Filipino audience.

What’s Next

The top 10 finalists, together with the interpreters, will showcase their original songs on December 2, 2018 in the PhilPop Festival Finals Night that will be held at Capitol Commons in Pasig City.

PhilPop 2018 is an initiative of the PhilPop Music Foundation, chaired by Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan.
