Philippines Teleport, AirAsia’s logistics arm, has partnered with Golden Arches Development Corporation (McDonald’s Philippines), one of the nation’s largest fast-food chains, to aid and guarantee quickly delivery of orders inside the National Capital Region (NCR).
To start off another relationship, AirAsia’s Teleport and McDonald’s executives sent off about 10 members of the airasia delivery team, including AirAsia cabin crew, pilots, and field workers at McDonald’s McKinley West, who will begin transporting customer requests across Metro Manila, beginning in Paranaque and Pasay
Teleport is a full-service logistics network tailored for today’s companies. Apart from the airasia delivery team’s last-mile delivery service, Teleport also conducts air cargo services using AirAsia’s fleet and large network of flights, using available building on passenger planes to minimize transport costs while accessing over 125 city destinations in southeast asia.
McDonald’s consumers will also enjoy the same degree of efficiency when ordering their favorite meals via the McDonald’s PH App.
McDonald’s networks will be used for ordering, payment, and delivery monitoring, while AirAsia’s Teleport will ensure safe, hot, new, and on-time delivery of meals from McDonald’s stores to customers’ doorsteps.
“This collaboration with McDonald’s is part of AirAsia’s pivot to digitalization and opening of other lines of business that will offer work opportunities to anyone who has been seriously impacted by the current pandemic,” said Airasia CEO Ricky Isla.
We at AirAsia will continue to be versatile and open to substantive and constructive improvements that foster growth and development.”
“Aside from the NCR, Teleport is now present in key cities across the country, including Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban, Tagbilaran, Clark, Cagayan de Oro, and Zamboanga,” said Teleport Country Head Ernest Bernal. “We plan to collaborate with McDonald’s in these main cities to increase the number of McDonald’s locations around the country.
AirAsia-Teleport is looking forward more to extending our relationship with Golden Arches Development Corp. (GADC) to extend our services throughout the United States and Southeast Asia, leveraging AirAsia’s vast network of cities and countries.”
McDonald’s in the Philippines is one of the biggest markets in the region, with nearly 660 locations currently open and more planned for 2021.
The company’s continued growth, as well as the increasing demand from Filipinos for internationally iconic McDonald’s items like the Big Mac and Fries, some very well local classics like Chicken McDo and McSpaghetti, has driven AirAsia-Teleport to “deliver.”
“Our collaboration with AirAsia is part of the company’s on-going digital transformation journey, which began in 2009 with the launch of our McDelivery website, followed by the launch of our McDelivery App in 2014, the use of 3POs in 2018, and cashless payment for McDelivery in 2020,” says Margot Torres, Managing Director of McDonald’s Philippines. “These strategic investments were what allowed the business to Expand. The Company was able to survive the pandemic thanks to these strategic investments, and our continued pursuit of this [digital transformation] will enable us to future-proof our business.”
“We saw significant growth of our delivery business last year, which, enabled by digital technology, allowed us to serve more customers efficiently and safely from the comfort of their homes,” said Kenneth Yang, CEO of McDonald’s Philippines. We will be able to meet rising demand while maintaining high quality standards thanks to collaborations like this with AirAsia and Teleport.
