The Marriott Grand Ballroom on Newport Boulevard in Pasay City hosted a lavish event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of LCC Malls, the groundbreaking retail behemoth of Bicol. The event, which had as its theme “Elevate: 80 Years of Excellence,” highlighted the business’s long history and dedication to ongoing innovation. In a bold display of its colorful corporate identity, LCC’s trademark royal blue, gold, and yellow were used to decorate the ballroom.

A legacy built on vision

When Tan Chu Lim and Tan Sy Sa founded LCC in 1945, it was just a small shop called Liberty Bazaar in Tabaco, Albay. It developed into the LCC Group of Companies over the years, spreading throughout the Bicol Region with a diverse range of retail formats, such as supermarkets, department shops, and community malls. The group established a new benchmark for regional retail in 1981 when they opened Bicol’s first shopping mall in Legazpi City.

Today, LCC operates more than 80 branches across the Bicol Region, with a strategic partnership with Ayala Land, co-developing Ayala Malls Legazpi in 2016. LCC remains a household name and trusted partner in the lives of countless Bicolanos.

Passing the torch to a new generation

The highlight of the evening was the formal introduction of LCC’s third generation of leaders, who are poised to carry the company forward with the same heart, grit, and innovation that built it. The new leaders, namely Christian Tan, Christien Frances Tan, Anne Marianne Tan-Ong, Anne Maybelle Tan-Astillero, Lindsay Cheng-Olaño, and Alvin Tan, were presented on stage. Each one representing the group’s evolving vision and dedication to shaping LCC’s future!

A gathering of partners and family

The milestone event also served as a tribute to the strong partnerships that helped shape LCC’s growth. Present were top national partners who have significantly contributed to LCC’s success, including Angel Qi of Colgate-Palmolive, Silliman Sy and Denice Sy of Ever Bilena Cosmetics, Inc., Alice Liu of Golden ABC, Jerome Ong of CDO Foodsphere, Inc., and Terry Chen of Bounty Fresh Group Holdings, among many others.

Many generations of the founding family from Metro Manila and Bicol joined together to commemorate this momentous occasion, making it an emotional family gathering! The occasion commemorated 80 years of corporate prowess as well as solidarity, heritage, and community service for Filipinos. The evening represented a renewed dedication to taking LCC to new heights and boldly guiding the business into the future, as the third generation now assumes control!
