Manila Water rises to 384th place in the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 for 2025

Manila Water, an East Zone water concessionaire, has secured a place on the esteemed Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list for the second year in a row, but this time it has an even higher ranking.

Manila Water improved significantly from its 435th position in 2024 to 384th place in the 2025 edition, demonstrating the company’s ongoing expansion and operational excellence.

The Fortune Southeast Asia 500 ranks top-performing companies from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines, each meeting a minimum revenue threshold of $349.4 million. Collectively, the companies on the 2025 list generated $1.82 trillion in revenue in 2024, up from $1.79 trillion the previous year.

According to Fortune, currently, the Southeast Asia 500 companies are playing an increasingly important role in global supply chains—capturing manufacturing capacity shifting from China, which is drawing significant capital flows and reshaping global trade dynamics. The second annual Fortune Southeast Asia 500 also offers a compelling snapshot of a region poised to lead in fast-growing sectors such as mining, electric vehicles (EVs), and artificial intelligence (AI)—highlighting Southeast Asia’s readiness to embrace the industries of the future.

“Fortune’s interest in the region reflects Southeast Asia’s growing importance as an engine of global growth,” says Clay Chandler, Executive Editor, Fortune Asia. “The region has become a crucial manufacturing and export hub, which is drawing significant capital flows.”

“Being recognized as one of Southeast Asia’s Top 500 companies is a proud moment for all of us. This achievement reflects the trust of our customers, the hard work and dedication of our team, and the bold vision that drives us forward. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to creating lasting value for our stakeholders and contributing meaningfully to the region’s dynamic economic landscape.” says Jocot De Dios, Manila Water President and CEO.

To determine the Top 500 Southeast Asian companies, Fortune ranked companies based on revenue from their most recently available fiscal year ending on or before December 31, 2024, unless otherwise specified. Revenue figures include contributions from consolidated subsidiaries and any reported income from discontinued operations.

Enchanted Kingdom commemorates its eleven years of assistance to Brigada Eskwela

In celebration of its eleventh year of taking part in the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela program, Enchanted Kingdom, the nation’s first and only world-class theme park, donated two adopted kindergarten classrooms to Caingin Elementary School in Santa Rosa, Laguna. This is a component of EK’s School of Enchantment curriculum, which combines education and entertainment to create enjoyable and distinctive learning opportunities.

A statewide school maintenance program called Brigada Eskwela encourages all parties involved in education to donate their time, energy, and resources to make sure all public schools are ready for classes to start. “Sama-sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa” is this year’s theme.

Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, this is the 11th year that EK is supporting the said program inline with its commitment to nation-building and education. Since 2012, EK has turned over a total of 14 refurbished kindergarten classrooms in nearby schools, ensuring that students have access to fun, safe, and magical learning environments.

The premier theme park’s very own maintenance personnel repaired and upgraded the lighting and electrical system of the classrooms as well as added furniture and shelves; while their visual artists brightened the atmosphere by painting EK’s beloved characters and core values into the classroom walls.

EK President and Chairman Cesar Mario Mamon expressed their commitment not only to expand their reach for Brigada Eskwela, but also to bring even more magical and educational experiences that go beyond the four corners of the classroom.

“Education is vital in our future plans because we want to provide an alternative classroom—that when you go to Enchanted Kingdom, students will be able to appreciate and learn about different subjects,” he shared.

In a separate meeting with Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara, Mayor Arlene Arcillas, and officials from the Schools Division Office of Santa Rosa City, EK affirmed their support to all of DepEd’s plans and programs.

School Division Superintendent (SDS) for Santa Rosa Hereberto Jose Miranda, CESO VI; Education Program Supervisor (EPS) for Kindergarten and Special Education (SPED) Maribel De Vera; Cluster III Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS) Soledad Baylon; Barangay Caingin Captain Edwin Servo; Caingin Elementary School Principal III Guadalupe Factoriza; School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) President Josephine Mandala; and teachers, parents, and students graced the turnover ceremony, which was presided over by Santa Rosa City Vice Mayor Arnold Arcillas.

Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Unveils RadianceLabs Workshop in Partnership with DermHQ: A Bright Approach to Radiance for Sensitive Skin

Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) is a persistent skin care concern, particularly for individuals with sensitive skin. Acne-related PIH affects 80% of patients. This is what happens when acne scars start to fade: the fading process usually takes a long time and can be a frustrating experience for those dealing with other skin problems.

Knowing that this frustration can cause consumers to seek unsafe and unvetted skin care practices, Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance, the brand recommended by dermatologists for everyone’s sensitive skin partnered with the skin experts from DermHQ to present the RadianceLabs Workshop

Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance offers a science-led, multi-action approach to tackling skin-related concerns—chiefly PIH, uneven skin tone and dullness for those with sensitive skin. The workshop aims to highlight the power of targeted ingredients and dermatological science in creating effective yet gentle skincare.

At the core of the Bright Healthy Radiance line is a synergistic blend of active ingredients called GentleBright Technology, with niacinamide, known to reduce the appearance of dark spots; and sea daffodil extract, which helps visibly reduce pigmentation. This unique formulation is clinically proven to brighten and even out skin tone without irritation.

DermHQ brings its clinical credibility to the collaboration, helping to translate scientific findings into real-world solutions for patients with sensitive skin. The RadianceLabs Workshop will serve as a platform for skin health professionals and advocates to discuss evidence-based strategies for managing pigmentation issues and improving skin luminosity—safely and effectively.

This initiative further reinforces Cetaphil’s position as a leader in sensitive skincare, offering solutions that are both gentle and powerful, grounded in dermatological science and clinical results.

The Valencia leg of the 2025 FIA TCR World Tour is won by Lynk & Co

Lynk & Co 03 TCR Ehrlacher and Urrutia

At the 2025 FIA TCR World Tour’s Valencia leg, the Lynk & Co Cyan Racing team put on a strong show, finishing first and second in Race 3. Yann Ehrlacher was the top finisher on the podium, closely followed by teammate Santiago Urrutia.

Ehrlacher now leads the Drivers’ Championship with 152 points after winning his second race of the weekend. With 146 points, Urrutia is now in second place overall. The team’s impressive performance further increases their lead in the Teams’ Championship, as Lynk & Co Cyan Racing now has a lead of more than 100 points with 325 points overall.

Central to their success is the Lynk & Co 03 TCR, a race car known for its exceptional power and handling, strong cornering ability, and reliability under pressure. Designed specifically for touring car competitions, the 03 TCR has continuously proven itself as a competitive and consistent vehicle across various tracks, and Valencia was no exception.

Yann Ehrlacher

Reflecting on the weekend, Ehrlacher said it was the team’s most consistent and trouble-free performance so far this season. “It was quite a nice weekend for us. It is the first time we’ve had a weekend with no bad luck. I was happy with the pace and all the work the guys have done.”

Furthermore, Ehlacher also shared the challenges the drivers faced in the Valencia touring track, particularly the high temperature, but still conveyed his interest to return another time. “I think Valencia is a nice touring car track; it’s quite challenging for us drivers to put together a good lap and the high temperature didn’t make things very easy either. It was quite challenging, but hopefully we’ll come back here in the future.”

Urrutia, who crossed the line just behind Ehrlacher in second, was equally pleased with the outcome and expressed excitement for the Monza leg. “It has been very good. Congratulations to Cyan, we had a strong weekend, with Yann’s two wins, and my two podiums and a pole position. Strong points for the championship both for the drivers and the team, which is the main thing. I didn’t expect to be this quick this weekend. I was surprised first with the pole position and then I just did my weekend and tried to avoid contact. I’ve had so many DNFs in the past, so this year I plan to just finish whatever position I can take. So far so good, it’s only six races, and now we go to Monza, a track I really like.”

Lynk & Co 03 TCR Ehrlacher

With six rounds completed, Lynk & Co Cyan Racing continues to prove its strength on the race track with consistent top finishes and teamwork. The next race will take place at the Monza circuit in Italy on June 20-22, 2025 where the team will look to carry their momentum forward in the championship fight.

In the meantime, UAAGI Distributors, Inc., the authorized distributor of Lynk & Co. automobiles in the Philippines, has been formally approved as an Associate Member of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), marking a significant local milestone for the company. This accolade enhances the brand’s standing in the regional auto sector and bolsters its dedication to interacting with important industry players, encouraging innovation, and guaranteeing adherence to the strictest operational guidelines.

Sparks and Starry Nights: Experience the Magic of Festivals at Kinosaki Onsen and Other Places in Japan

Photo courtesy of Hyogo Official Tourism Navigation

In Japan, the summer months are filled with fireworks, firelit customs, and golden sunflowers. Memorable experiences that combine culture, nature, and celebration are available during the warmer months, from the romantic glow of lanterns drifting down rivers to the exhilaration of swinging blazing straw bundles. Japan’s summer festivals inspire you to slow down and light up wherever you are.

In the charming hot spring town of Kinosaki Onsen — a two and a half-hour train ride from Kyoto Station — summer nights sparkle with wishes and wonder. Visitors in yukata gather along the Otani River to release lanterns carrying their dreams, while fireworks explode overhead in vibrant bursts. Weeknights in late July and August add shorter displays, turning the town into a canvas of light. It’s a timeless ritual, where relaxation meets revelry under the stars.

Just south of Kinosaki, the quiet countryside of Tanto transforms into a sea of yellow every August. Over 500,000 sunflowers, including rare red varieties, stretch toward the sky, offering a photogenic paradise for families and solo travelers alike. Pick sweet corn for a snack, wander the blooms, and let the simplicity of rural Japan slow your pulse. Few sights capture summer’s joy quite like this.

On July 30, the pristine sands of Takeno Beach, one of Japan’s top 100, become the stage for a breathtaking 50-minute fireworks show. Waves glow under the spectacle, framed by the rugged beauty of the San’in Kaigan Geopark. Arrive early to explore the quaint fishing village, then join locals as the night sky ignites over the ocean. It’s summer magic, distilled.

On the Sunday closest to August 24, visit Izushi for a spicy take on tradition. Visitors swing burning bundles for good fortune at Ifukube Shrine, where schoolchildren bring fire down a mountain to light candles and bales of straw. Part excitement, part reverence, the communal vibe makes this festival a hidden gem, and the streets from the samurai era add historic beauty.

Summertime in Japan is a tapestry of ephemeral moments, with lanterns floating into the distance, sunflowers facing the sun, and sparkles fading into the night. These events and venues offer more than just entertainment. Every firework, petal, and flame tells a narrative, and they let you connect with the rhythm of the season. Arrive for the show; depart with memories that will last long after the heat has subsided.

Globe and Canvas open a year-long display at the National Museum honoring children’s rights, art, and internet safety

Atty. Irish Salandanan-Almeida, Chief Privacy Officer of Globe and Gigo Alampay, Executive Director of CANVAS at the launch event

As Globe collaborates with the Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (CANVAS) to launch a special year-long exhibit called “Tumba-Tumba: A Retrospective,” the National Museum’s corridors are coming to life with color, curiosity, and purpose.

Visitors can engage with installations that bring CANVAS artworks to life, encouraging exploration, learning, and play

The exhibit, which honors CANVAS’ 20 years of advancing children’s reading as well as Philippine art and culture, includes captivating artwork, interactive installations, and compelling storytelling—all of which were carefully chosen with young minds in mind. The display encourages kids to learn more about their rights, the value of creativity, and navigating a world that is becoming more and more digital in order to pique their interest and encourage conversation.

“This partnership is about creating a space where learning and play come together, and where kids can better understand how to protect themselves online,” said Atty. Irish Salandanan-Almeida, Chief Privacy Officer at Globe. “Through art, we can engage children in ways that are both meaningful and memorable.”

A reading area showcasing Safe Space: A Kid’s Guide to Data Privacy, co-produced by Globe and CANVAS

Among the exhibit’s centerpieces is the award-winning Safe Space: A Kid’s Guide to Data Privacy, a book co-produced by Globe and CANVAS that helps children understand the value of personal information and how to stay safe in the digital world. Visitors can interact with materials inspired by the book, reinforcing lessons on online boundaries, digital footprints, and respectful behavior on the internet.

The exhibit is also a preview of CANVAS’ upcoming Tumba-Tumba Children’s Museum of Philippine Art, currently being built in Ibaan, Batangas. Just an hour and a half from Manila, the museum will be the first of its kind in the country—a space devoted to Filipino children, storytelling, and creativity.

“We’ve always believed that art can move, teach, and transform. ‘Tumba-Tumba’ is a celebration of that belief,” said Gigo Alampay, Executive Director of CANVAS. “Thanks to partners like Globe, we’re able to bring these stories to more children—and help them grow up informed, expressive, and empowered.”

Globe’s support for the exhibit is part of its broader commitment to safeguarding children’s rights online. Over the past three years, Globe has proactively blocked more than a million URLs linked to sexual abuse or exploitation of children (OSAEC) and recently extended protections to cover AI-generated and non-photographic content.

Experience year-long programmed tours designed for children, families, and schools

Globe continues to promote digital responsibility with this display, reminding families that awareness is the first step toward online safety and that even the most basic resources, such as a children’s book or a work of art, can have a long-lasting impact.

The National Museum’s “Tumba-Tumba” display will be open to the public on June 13, 2025, and will remain there for a full year.

Only 57% of Filipinos disagree with the Senate’s decision to send the Articles of Impeachment back to the House of Representatives.

According to the most recent Tangere public opinion survey, which was taken between June 16–17, 2025, 57% of Filipinos disagreed with the Senate’s decision to send the Articles of Impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte back to the House of Representatives. The NCR, Southern Luzon, Central Luzon, and Northern Luzon are residence to the majority of respondents who disagreed. Just 20% of respondents support the Senate’s move, while 23% are unsure. The agreement is driven by respondents from Northern Mindanao and the Davao Region.

Unprecedented move by the Senate

The unprecedented move by the Senate to not immediately proceed with the impeachment trial was deemed against the standard process of impeachment defined by the Constitution by 23% of the respondents. In comparison, 22% of those who disagreed mentioned that the decision is a ‘delaying tactic’ by the Senate.

Innocent until proven guilty

25% of respondents who disagreed with the return of the Articles of Impeachment to the House of Representatives believe that Vice President Sara Duterte is not guilty of the items mentioned in the Articles of Impeachment which include betrayal of public trust, and graft and corruption, and that she should use the Impeachment Trial to defend herself against the accusations against her.

The non-commissioned survey, conducted last June 16-17, 2025, was administered via a mobile-based respondent application with a sample size of 1,200 participants (+/- 2.77% Margin of Error at a 95% Confidence Level) using a Stratified Random Sampling method (Quota Based Sampling). The proportion was spread throughout the Philippines, with 12 percent from NCR, 23 percent from Northern Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.
