Ortigas Malls Extends Helping Hand in Time of Community Quarantine

Since the community quarantine is extended, the Ortigas Malls continue implementing to prevent the spread of the infectious COVID-19 and have provided some solace to harried Filipino consumers even with their limited operations. The shopping malls facilities such as Estancia, Greenhills, Tiendesitas and Industria continues to open for consumers seeking essential goods and services during this health emergency.

The company is taking extra steps to ensure its shopping malls are safe sanctuaries for patrons seeking some sense of normalcy in the face of the pandemic. Banks, pharmacies, supermarkets and restaurants offering delivery and take out services within Ortigas Malls’ retail complexes continue to serve customers even as other shops are closed.

“We are strictly implementing safety protocols in all our malls such as temperature check, social distancing, and daily disinfection to protect our frontliners, our tenants’ employees who work tirelessly amidst this pandemic. As we take care of our own people, we also recognize our responsibility to the greater community in battling this pandemic. Ortigas Land is fully committed to provide support by extending assistance to where we are most needed,” says Jaime E. Ysmael, President and CEO of Ortigas Land.

Ortigas Malls is also looking after the welfare of its main asset, its workforce. It has organized work-from-home arrangements for most of its employees since the beginning of the quarantine period, while those in the frontlines such as supermarket and pharmacy staff, as well as security personnel are provided protective equipment and disinfection supplies.

With their #TogetherWeGive fund drive, Ortigas Land employees are raising PHP 5 million in order to support outsourced staff and medical frontliners. The outsourced staff are employees provided by third-party labor contractors and the funds raised will be used to help tide over the needs of these no-work, no-pay workers during the quarantine period.

Beyond its support for its retail complexes, Ortigas Land has been extending a helping hand to the community by working with local government units where it operates to provide relief goods for affected families and supply personal protective equipment (PPE) to healthcare workers. It is likewise extending financial assistance to all its outsourced personnel, most of whom have been displaced by the crisis.

5 Ways You Can Give Back to ’The Good Guys’ in Your Community

In the midst of dealing with COVID-19 and in times of uncertainty have a way of bringing out the best in people.  During this hard times you feel helpless so you look for helpers and you will always find people who are helping or ‘the good guys’ come to the fore. Aside from the medical frontliners, who definitely are at the top of the list, there are also the rest of ‘the good guys’ such as: the security guards, receptionists, janitors, housekeepers and maintenance personnel. Their work is not as dramatic and as headline-grabbing as the medical frontliners, but they keep you provided with the basic services that you continue to enjoy despite the current disruption. So you may be asking yourself, what can I do to repay them?

Across SM Development Corporation (SMDC) communities, residents are banding together to give back and show appreciation to these good guys. “If not for them we wouldn’t be able to keep the peace and cleanliness of our building, so it’s very important to take care of them,” Aileen Reyes, a resident of Shine Residences in Pasig, says.

There are many things you can do to show your appreciation for your ‘good guys. They do not take much, as many of them can be done within the comfort of your home. “We are lucky here in SMDC because a grocery and a pharmacy are found right on the ground floor. I am sure many of us want to help in any way we can but accessing basic goods and services might be a challenge. I am glad these retail spaces are found within my home,” says Mike Pastor, an FMCG executive and a father of two who resides at Light Residences in Mandaluyong.

Here are five easy ways to give back to your Good Guys:

1) Express your gratitude.

A simple note of thanks, a ‘thank you’ greeting, a salute, a clap – there are many things you can do to make them feel you value them and what they do for you. Take a photo of them, post your ‘thank you’ on social media, and tag them. Or, engage your kids and ask them to express their gratitude through drawings and hand these cute gratitude cards to them. They may not mean much to you, but these thoughtful gestures of gratitude provide inspiration to keep them going.

2) Share a meal.

Lucky for SMDC residents, grocery stores are just an elevator ride away. You can purchase healthy produce and other cooking essentials for your next culinary adventure. Make it personal and prepare an extra helping and send them over to them.

3) Support donation drives.

Grocery, food packs, Vitamin supplements, face masks, gloves and other protective gear will go a long way to make life a little easier for them. You may share some of your available goodies from your pantry, order online or take advantage of the open retail spaces at any SMDC development. All the essentials – food, medicine and ATMs – are found on the ground floor.

4) Make the conscious effort to keep them protected.

They are exposed to more people and to waste. Consciously ensure they are protected by keeping your distance from them and by practicing proper waste disposal. Place your used gloves and face masks in sealed plastic containers and immediately dispose of them. Call the attention of neighbors who do unsanitary things like spitting or coughing unprotectedly or throwing trash carelessly.

5) Follow your community’s safety protocols.

Not only will you be protecting yourself, your family and your community; you will also be helping them minimize contact with others and make their jobs a little easier by following rules that they have been tasked to implement.

Store Finder PH launches Facebook chatbot for free mobile internet users

When Store Finder PH’s map website went live on March 19 to help locate nearby establishments that are open during the COVID-19 community quarantine, families with no internet connection seem left behind.

However with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, the volunteer-initiated website is able to make its key content available on Facebook Messenger through a chatbot. A chatbot is a computer robot that replies to messages like a human being.

Currently, Facebook Messenger can be used even without a mobile data plan as part of the basic service of Smart, Globe, and affiliate providers, making the store finding-chatbot accessible to more than 44 million phone internet users in the Philippines at no extra cost.

Store Finder PH named its chatbot “Crowdy” to signify the project’s crowd-sourcing nature of collecting information. To use the chatbot, the user should open the project’s Facebook messenger.

After tapping “Get Started”, the user may pick the establishment category and type a location that the chatbot will scan through. A list of  search results including grocery shops, restaurants, pharmacies, banks, ATM centers, remittance centers, logistic hubs, and other essential stores  is then displayed within seconds.

Although the map feature is disabled when on free mobile data, crucial information including business hours are still delivered in text format.

“Our main contribution as millenials to the Enhanced Community Quarantine measure of the government is making tech solutions and life-saving information reach the doorsteps of every Filipino,” said Trinmar Boado, an award-winning Information and Communication Technology (ICT) advocate and leader of the volunteer project.

He added the chatbot is getting a high volume of query for remittance centers, explaining this must be from parents of stranded students and other individuals sending out financial help.

On Store Finder PH’s  website version at www.storefinder.ph, users can see the map of their neighborhood and the exact location of open establishments. They can also chat with other active users within the vicinity to seek any assistance during emergencies.

To start using the Store Finder PH chatbot, open m.me/StoreFinder.PH or fb.com/StoreFinder.PH now. To support this community initiative,  email at [email protected] or call 0977-340-5736 (Globe).

Svelti’s Introduces Lavieen, Latest B.B. Laser the high-tech version and New non-intrusive treatments

SVELT’I QC LAUNCHES LAVIEEN. The SvelT’i Aesthetic Centre in Timog Avenue, Quezon City launches Lavieen, a laser state-of-the-art technology that removes blemishes and gives skin its fresh sheen without any downtime. Lavieen’s laser lights remove the external effects of the pollutants. They also release the skin’s nutrients to combat any toxins that enter the body. After one treatment, the face can glow and becomes healthier and more resistant to disease and the breakout of pimples, whiteheads, blackheads, and other blemishes. From left: DJ Migs Santillan of Magic 89.9; Jorge Aquino, President of SvelT’i; Dr. Owen Aguilar-Joven, Medical Director; Marga Vargas, News Anchor of TV5; and JM Matias, SvelT’i Operations Manager.

Before the lockdown in Metro Manila due to Corona Virus, I was able to attend the launching of Svelti’s Lavieen. I am the type of person who love to try new things especially taking good care of my skin and discover new services that makes my skin youthful glow despite the gloomy weather and a depressive atmosphere. Who doesn’t want to walk through life with a renewed confidence in their own beauty? I’m very happy that Svelti got this very latest laser technology, Lavieen that makes you look lush, luscious and lovely flawless skin.

Lets talk about Lavieen, the state-of-the-art laser technology that has elevated the standards of skin care to new heights. Also known as B.B. Laser, Lavieen uses thulium laser to emit pulses of searing, soft light into your skin, penetrating deep into its epidermis and dermis layers. That  means both layers of your skin are being treated with rigorous medical precision: the surface, which is regularly exposed to skin, dirt, and other risk factors; and the inner parts which actually produce the collagen and other substances that are responsible for healing and rejuvenating your skin. This makes the treatment of Lavieen more effective and long-lasting. The laser lights do not just remove the external effects of the pollutants (which is important, by the way)—but they release the nutrients that are already in your skin to combat any toxins that enter your body, weeding them out and their effects. After one treatment, your skin does not just glow — it also becomes healthier and more resistant to disease and the breakout of pimples, white heads, blackheads, and other blemishes.

You can see the positive changes after just one session, so better keep your camera and instagram account right beside you in your treatment room. Watch my full YouTube that I took during the media launch of Svelti’s Lavieen: https://youtu.be/LEsqGmUX7Wo

One session only takes 30-40 minutes. You can easily go back to the office, home, or your shopping spree, looking fresh-faced than the people around you. There are no side effects, and no surgery is needed. The treatment takes place in a very private comfortable room. The nurse in charge will go through your medical history and give you personalized advice as to how Lavieen can be maximized to bring about your desired results. The procedure is very relaxing because you will spend it lying on n medical bed as it is being administered. You can even sleep while the nurse does her work!

The nurse will cleanse your face first before activating the Lavieen laser tech on it. Once the laser pulses are emitted into the blemishes you want removed, you will feel a trickle of heat that resembles a soothing electrical touch. The nurse can adjust the intensity of the laser, depending on your level of comfort. You will notice thal no other equipment is needed: no tweezers or other surgical tools to pry those pimples out. What you will also see immediately after the treatment is done is a glowing face that looks bright and attractive, sans make-up!

There are a few simple easy rules to follow after the session:

  • Use sun protection (SPF 50+) daily at all times. Continue applying it at least 6 months after the completion of the treatment.
  • Do not use any make-up for 24 to 48 hours after the treatment.
  • Avoid exposure to natural or artificial light and sources of dired heat up to 72 hours.
  • Washing of treated areas is not allowed 24-48 hours after the treatment

One way to know more about Lavieen and/or B.B. Laser is to visit SvelTi. One visit can lead to a better, more beautiful you!

The Other Services of SvelTi’s new non-intrusive: remove back pains, bulging body parts, and aging effects on the skin

The SveITi Aesthetic Centre, the premiere health, wellness, and beauty center in MetroManila, has recently launched three cutting-edge treatments that can address stress-related medical conditions. Lumbago treats back pains caused by a high-pressure lifestyle. Cellushape reduces bulging body parts, such as arms and legs, which have been caused by an accumulation of cellulite. Hollywood Vita Facial removes wrinkles and other blemishes from the face, while infusing it with nutrients that can make its skin even healthier. All of these treatments are non-intrusive, require very little downtime, and show their results very quickly.

The pressures of work, family‚ the management of their own businesses, and the traffic gridlock combined have resulted in high levels of stress for working professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs. Young adults who are coping with peer pressure, school demands, and a sense of alienation brought by too much time on social media are also prone to depression. All these unresolved emotional and mental issues can manifest in a lot of ways throughout their bodies, damaging their health.

1) Lumbago for a limber back

The first medical condition to be addressed is back pain, which can be a result of constant stress that is no being given relief or addressed. The muscles around their lower back and spine tighten to the point of rigidity, Even the person who regularly exercises is not immune to this condition. However, the ones who are probably most at risk are those who agonize over deadlines and sit at their desks more than six hours a day. The person with back pain finds it hard to move around. Sometimes, certain sitting or standing positions can add to their discomfort. The accumulation of inconvenience and pain then dampens his or her mood, and triggers more sadness, irritation, or anger — which further adds to the stress he is already experiencing. The added stress increases the back pain, and the cycle goes on.

Lumbago relieves the patience of the stress-induced pain in a mere 40-minute relaxing therapeutic session. The patient lies on a very comfortable bed as the machine stimulates his nervous system with short, steady bursts of electricity. The electricity sends signals to the patient’s brain prompting the nervous system and the surrounding muscles to relax. The warmth and beat generated by the process also crushes the cold particles in the body that have caused the patient’s back to stiffen.

2) Cellushape: a more flattering look replaces the plumpness

Cellushape is designed mostly for women patients who are the ones who tend to suffer the build-up of cellulite. It manifests in fatty, loose skin that bloats up arms, legs, thighs, buttocks. Though it is harmless from a medical perspective, cellulite does make the skin look lumpy, uneven, and ultimately unflattering, It is attributed to the growth of fat cells which inevitably push up against the epidermis. The affected body parts become plump and acquire a rotund shape.

Cellushape is an ultrasound-like treatment that focuses on the bulging body parts, and send sound waves to penetrate the skin and break down the fatty substances. The treatment is done in a very relaxing environment, with the patient lying down comfortably on the bed as the nurse administers the treatment. For less than an hour, Cellushape concentrates on the fatty tissues, slowly melting them from within. After the treatment, it activates a massage-like procedure that flushes out the now pulverized fats from the body.

Cellushape can take more than one session if the cellulites on the affected body parts prove stubborn, especially if they had been prevalent for a long time. Interestingly, some thin people can use Cellushape, not to trim own fat, but to shape their legs into a more fleshy appealing appearance.

Patients is advice to drink a lot of water after undergoing Cellushape.

3) Hollywood Vita Facial: Fresh, smooth, and shining

Unlike most other facial treatments, the Hollywood Vita Facial makes its effects last longer. Blemishes, wrinkles, and other anti-aging effects are removed quickly, to be replaced by fresh, smooth skin that is attractive because of its purity and sheen. The ’new Iook’ can last days and highlight the patient’s best facial features even with just minimal make-up.

The secret to Hollywood Vita Facial lies in its nutrients. The treatment essentially places anti-aging, natural elements on the patient’s face while it is being cleansed. Its combination of vitamins and minerals is then embedded under the skin where their substances bring about the needed changes. Collagen, for example, rejuvenates the face and provides it stronger protection against pollutants, dirt, and anti-oxidants. Omega-3, which is usually found in seafood and walnuts, prevents the onset of acne, irritation, itchiness, and inflammatlon. Vitamin E is responsible for making the cells on the face regenerate.

One Hollywood Vita Facial treatment removes fine lines, reduces the pores, and tightens the skin. Oftentimes, the skin glows with an eye-catching radiance, making the patient look younger and even happier.

To know more about these treatments, visit SvelTi: the Aesthetics Centre Quezon City branch 5/F, South Insula Condominium, 61 Timog Avenue, Quezon City, phone nos. +63918-878-3584 or (02)83327546; and in the Ortigas branch at the Ground Floor, Millennium Place, Meralco Ave., Ortigas Center, Pasig City, phone nos. +63917-578-3584 or (02)8281-922.

BOLD AND FEARLESS: MAYOR ISKO “YORME”GOES GREEN

Mayor ISKO “Yorme” MORENO

I am not a resident of Manila but I saw a lot of improvements and good works of Mayor Isko Moreno, more popularly known to Filipinos as Yorme. Everybody are familiar  how Mayor ISKO MORENO threaded an impoverished area in Manila while growing up and as the elected City Mayor of Manila, he never wavered amidst adversities hurled at him for taking several steps in making a better version of the city he fondly calls his home and crowning glory. Yorme puts his heart and mind in anything he does – “Believe in yourself! You’ve got nothing to lose.”

Yorme recently signed Ordinance 8607 declaring the permanence of Arroceros Forest Park dubbed as the “Last lung of the City”, home to 61 tree varieties and 8,000 ornamental plants. The new ordinance forbids the cutting of trees and dumping of waste within the park. Part of his plan is to allocate P1 million solely for its preservation and maintenance away from urbanization and all these efforts stem from his greater plan to make Manila a “Green City”.

Yorme firmly believes in the power of nature. It’s no secret that he advocates on using natural products. No wonder, early this year Yorme became the newest brand ambassador of NOVUHAIR, Nature’s Answer to Hair Loss. Watch the full video:

Owning your dream home with just a few clicks online just follow the 4 guides

Find out if you can afford the home of your dreams through Nook’s website.

Looking for a pre-qualified home loan in just minutes? And are you ready to fulfill your dream of buying your very own home? Chances are, you may be overwhelmed by the sheer thought of this undertaking, which is perfectly understandable given that it is a huge step. But fear not – purchasing your dream home has never been more exciting, given the wide options out there!

Here are four (4) tips to guide you as you begin your journey to owning your dream home:

1) Identify your “must-haves”

Before you start looking around, think about what you want in a house, and list these down. For instance, do you need a driveway? How many bedrooms are you looking for? Do you prefer a standalone unit or is a condominium more suitable for your purposes? Each option will have a different impact on the price of the property and therefore your monthly budget.  By knowing what these are, you can be able to streamline your search easily.

2) Determine your budget

This step is very important, as buying a house is a big financial responsibility and will impact your finances for the long term, especially if you are going to take out a loan for this. Know how much equity you have available and determine how much you can afford to pay in monthly amortizations. Typically, housing payments should take up no more than 30% to 40% of your monthly income. Once you know the price range you can work with, then your selection will be more focused.

This website also provides a loan calculator that can help you estimate how much you can borrow given your budget and how much your monthly loan will be.

3) Consider location carefully

You can never underestimate the importance of location, especially in light of the dreadful traffic situation in Manila. While it is understandable that you would want to be close to your present place of work, do consider your future plans and that of your family when choosing between locations. Consider proximity to important destinations, as well as access to transportation hubs. Keep watch on upcoming government infrastructure projects as well.

4) Compare bank offerings carefully

Banks provide different financing plans and options, which is why you should take a good look at what each one has to offer to know what works best for you. For instance, some banks have longer payment periods, while others do fixed interest rates. You should also consider the fees that various banks charge, and see how flexible their offerings are. Comparing carefully can save thousands or even millions of pesos over the life of the loan.

Get pre-qualified in minutes, not days! Given Nook’s partnership with top banks in the Philippines, they can easily guide you through your whole home loan process and endorse you to the right partners you need.

Once everything is set, Nook lets you browse through various options that are within your parameters!
