A Muay Thai Summer Sports Clinic marked the successful conclusion of Home Credit Philippines, second year of collaboration with the Self-Defense & Independent Guardian Martial Arts (SIGMA) sports clinic. Home Credit Philippines is the nation’s top consumer credit organization. Through the ancient martial art of Muay Thai, the program empowered 120 youngsters ages 8 to 12 from Bacoor, Cavite, and surrounding regions for a summer full of learning and discipline in an effort to promote discipline, sportsmanship, and community participation among the youth.

Alagang Home, Home Credit’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, which goes beyond financial services to actively give back to the community with a special emphasis on youth development, includes this effort as one of its pillars.

As the program concluded, children demonstrated their newly acquired Muay Thai skills in presence of their parents, coaches, and special guests during a graduation ceremony on June 7. Certificates of completion were awarded by Home Credit and SIGMA representatives.

Home Credit Partners with Muay Thai

Muay Thai, the national sport of Thailand, offers a wealth of benefits for its young practitioners that extend far beyond the ring. “We are very grateful that Home Credit has once again given us this opportunity. I am very happy that the children are enjoying the training and learning a lot. The number one lesson is self-defense, but the most important is instilling discipline in the youth,” John Derick Ignes, owner of the Muay Thai Sports Clinic, emphasized this holistic approach.

“Ang magandang naidulot ng Muay Thai sa mga anak ko ay natutulo sila ng self-defense. Bukod doon,  nagkakaroon sila ng physical fitness activity. Naiiwasan na rin nila ang mga gadget kung saan natutuon ang kanilang atensyon. Dito, natututo sila ng discipline,” shared Angel Rubi Cruz, a parent.

Many parents highlighted how martial arts foster confidence and resilience in their children.

As graduates proudly received their certificates, the event highlighted the power of community collaboration. Through Alagang Home initiatives, Home Credit demonstrates its commitment to supporting Filipinos and fostering a stronger, more confident youth.

“We believe in giving back, especially to the youth who will shape our future. As we continue to serve millions of Filipinos with accessible financial services, we’re equally committed to serving communities through sustainable, values-driven programs,” Portia La-ab, HCPH ESG Lead concludes.

The Muay Thai Summer Sports Clinic is just one of many Alagang Home initiatives that aim to enrich lives, empower communities, and promote environmental positivity. With more programs nationwide, Home Credit continues to be a trusted partner in building a brighter future for the next generation.
