What to do to Clean the 5 Dirtiest Spots in Your Home

People are spending more time indoors than ever before, and it is critical that we keep our indoor spaces clean and hygienic throughout the day. Germs, on the other hand, have learned the art of hiding in some places, which aren’t always the simplest to clean! This includes our difficult-to-wash fabrics, which are always vulnerable to germs and viruses known as Germumus, or germs, bacteria, and pathogens that are invisible but are already existing in our difficult-to-wash things.

When was the last time you cleaned your couch? Six months ago? Last year? Never? Bring on the power tools! Here are some ways to keep them clean and what you can do in between washes to keep common trouble spots around the house germ-free.

Couches and Sofas: We all love being couch potatoes but lounging on a dirty sofa is a no-no. Did you know that the average sofa has 12 times more bacteria than your toilet seat? As they can easily trap dirt, allergens, and bacteria in their soft fibers, experts recommend having them professionally cleaned every 6 months. At home, you can use a hand vacuum to clean debris and dirt from the sofa’s surface. Be sure not to forget the crevices where dirt can accumulate!

Curtains: Cleaning your curtains might be included in your low-priority tasks but they actually accumulate a lot more grime than meets the eye. Just like the couches, curtains can also trap dust and dirt. Schedule to wash your curtains twice or more a year with cool or lukewarm water and mild detergent.

Bed Sheets: Ideally, you should change your bedsheets and pillowcases at least once a week as they can have a buildup of oils, dirt, and sweat from daily use. Compared to the average toilet seat, a one-week-old bed sheet contains 29,000 more bacteria. To clean, check the care label and wash with the hottest water temperature setting indicated.

Carpets: Dirty carpets not only look bad but they’re also full of pollutants and grime. Experts recommend having them cleaned by a professional at least once a year or every quarter if you have pets or kids. If you can’t schedule a pro, use a sponge or soft-bristle brush and work a cleaning solution into a lather.

Area rugs: Unless your area rug is extremely delicate, cleaning your area rug is something you can easily take on yourself. High-traffic area rugs should be cleaned at least every 3 months to not only extend the life of your rugs but also to make sure dirt is regularly removed. Thoroughly vacuum the rug on both sides or take the smaller rugs outdoors and shake them off as much as you can.

Other Hard-to-Wash Fabrics: Any area of your home with high traffic and surfaces that get touched a lot is basically a germ bank. This includes your bags, shoes, pet bed, and even office chairs! You can clean them by vacuuming to remove loose dirt or running the covers through the washing machine (if possible) using the warmest appropriate water setting.

Regular laundering of fabrics and cleaning soft surfaces with soap and water will go a long way. But if you’re grossed out by all of the germs and bacteria that might be lurking in your home, you’re probably wondering what you can do in between washes to make sure these germ-laden spots are cleaned every day. The Pagpupugay scholarship program has been reactivated by the BPI Foundation

The Pagpupugay scholarship program aims to help create a better future for the children and close relatives of our COVID-19 heroes.

The BPI Foundation has relaunched its “Pagpupugay” scholarship program that will help the families of medical first responders who contracted COVID-19 or died in the course of work during the pandemic.

“The fight against COVID-19 is far from over and our medical front liners continue to be at the forefront, highly exposed to the deadly virus while taking care of our fellow Filipinos,” said BPI Foundation Executive Director Owen Cammayo.

“The Pagpupugay scholarship program is a recognition for their heroic efforts. The program aims to help create a better future for the next of kin of medical front liners who were casualties of the COVID-19 war.”

“Pagpupugay” is a five-year scholarship program with an initial P1-million fund per school year. Five (5) scholars were chosen in 2020, to be evaluated for renewal annually. For the Academic Year 2021-2022, five (5) additional scholars will be selected. Each scholar will be provided a maximum of P100,000 scholarship fund per academic year to cover tuition fees and miscellaneous expenses.

The eligible applicants are the next of kin of the following medical front liners who contracted COVID-19 or passed away in the line of duty during the pandemic:

  • Doctors
  • Nurses
  • Medical technologists
  • Community health workers
  • Administrative, utility, and support services personnel in health care facilities

If the deceased is married, the priority beneficiary will be one of his or her children. If single, the beneficiary can be next of kin up to the 3rd degree of consanguinity.

To qualify, students must be enrolled or applying to any college or university nationwide. They must have and maintain a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 85% or its equivalent and/or prevailing University standards for the previous school year (for incoming 1st year) or semester (for incoming 2nd year to 5th year).

The secure and friendly environment created by TikTok is one of the reasons why it has become a go-to platform for creative expression online. In this video, creator Japboy teaches viewers how they can stop cyberbullying by checking their own reactions and comments before posting them online, to make sure that they aren’t being bashers themselves.

Creators @chuckandjoe call for respect, and say no to discrimination and cyberbullying in this video, which encourages viewers to stop hate, and spread love instead.

Together with these inspiring creators, TikTok also takes steps to address important issues like cyberbullying and negativity on the platform through movements such as its recently-launched #CreateKindness campaign. This global campaign and creative video series aims to raise awareness about online bullying, and the power of kindness and inclusion in battling discrimination and hatred online. As part of this ongoing initiative, an animated video series will be launched on the @TikTokTips account, telling real stories from six animator-creators that offer perspectives on how to counter bullying, expose the true impact that harmful behavior can have on a person, and remind the community why everyone needs to work together to prevent this.

The newly established Vaccination Center in Bonifacio High Street, Immunized about 14,000 Taguig residents

BGC established its Community Vaccination Center on Bonifacio High Street, right in the heart of the city, last April, as part of its mission to promote community health and well-being. This cleared the way for even more individuals and their loved ones to be safeguarded, thanks to a cooperation with the City Government of Taguig. This even stands as an example of all that can be achieved when the public and private sectors work together to achieve a common goal.

BGC, through the leadership of its LGU, and in collaboration with AC Health, has entered a new and deliberate phase in its pandemic response. “I am pleased to share the progress and turnaround of the Community Vaccination Center here in Bonifacio High Street. We are in full support of the City of Taguig’s COVID-19 vaccination roll-out by providing a secure and comfortable space that is easily accessible to everyone, with hopes that more and more BGCitizens will find confidence in getting inoculated, as we aim to achieve the road to zero. The virtual trophy tour feature has allowed TikTok users from across the world to snap themselves with the Euros trophy, as it travels through cities across Europe. Fans have been using TikTok’s new AR effect to lift the trophy for themselves – don’t miss out on your chance to hold the trophy and feel like a winner.

Place the Goal

Fancy yourself as a top goal scorer? With TikTok’s place the goal feature, you can give your favourite strikers a run for their money. Creators will be able to use the effect to place a TikTok goal on their screen and flick an animated football straight into the back of the net.

Virtual Try-on

Wear your colours with pride this summer using this new feature. Users can select fan clothing and face paint from their home nation to virtually apply to their face and body. You can even mix and match two countries, for those with split allegiances!

Firework Scores

Set the sky ablaze with football-themed fireworks on your videos! Users will be able to celebrate victory by typing match results or the name of their team and watch it come to life as part of an impressive virtual firework display.

Using this new feature, users can turn anything they want into their very own football team. From your car keys to candles, stationery and snacks, bring inanimate objects to life as a keeper, centre forward, centre midfield, and wingback.

Everything can be a ball

Why stop with just a team? Users will also be able to scan any object and watch it appear on screen as a ball. Try some kicks and keepy uppies. A powerful shot will even set your “ball” light on fire!

VAR gesture

Whatever your allegiance, VAR can make us all emotional. By using hand gestures, creators will be able to trigger a new video transition effect. A vertical rectangle will appear on the screen and gradually grow to fill the whole space. Users can place a second video inside that rectangle, and watch the first video transition into the second. Now you can VAR anything!
