A year ahead of schedule, the Hapag Movement assists more than 120,000 families that are experiencing involuntary hunger

Students at an elementary school in Laurel, Batangas receive a nutritious meal from the Hapag Movement.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Globe and TM customers, corporate sponsors, and mobilization partners, Globe’s hunger alleviation program, the Hapag Movement, has helped over 120,000 Filipino families and achieved its impact objective one year ahead of schedule.

The program raised Php 25.37 million in 2024 alone, surpassing its initial goal of 100,000 people by the end of 2025. This brings the total amount raised since 2022 to Php 53 million, which will be used to feed 120,455 families who are experiencing food insecurity.

“The overwhelming support for the Hapag Movement reflects the dedication of individuals, businesses, and organizations that share our vision of addressing involuntary hunger in the Philippines. Reaching this milestone sooner than expected strengthens our resolve to expand our efforts and create lasting change,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer at Globe.

Since its launch, the Hapag Movement has worked with the Ayala Foundation, Scholars of Sustenance, Tzu Chi Foundation, and World Vision. In 2024, it brought in three new mobilization partners—Rise Against Hunger and international organizations UN World Food Programme and Project PEARLS. This aimed to draw international attention to persistent hunger incidence in the Philippines, allowing the Hapag Movement to reach more communities in need.

The Hapag Movement has received support from over 1.1 million Globe and TM subscribers, who donated Php 11.67 million in Rewards points through the GlobeOne app.  Total contributions to the program have accounted for 23% of all assistance provided through the platform.

In addition, 1,871 Globe employees took part in various Hapag Movement activities in 2024, demonstrating their commitment to making a difference.

To grow its impact, the Hapag Movement launched innovative fundraisers like the “Ibalik ang Sarap ng Pasko” holiday drive with SM’s shopper loyalty program SMAC, integrating donations into holiday shopping, and the Gourmet Giving Series, featuring fine dining fundraiser events with 12 top Metro Manila restaurants in partnership with Facebook community Fine Dining Club Philippines.

The Hapag Movement also tapped into the power of fandoms, enlisting support from Blackpink and BTS fan communities, Electronic Sports Gaming Summit gamers, ToyCon collectors, Lyropera enthusiasts, and Kwentoon artists to encourage contributions.

The program also gained invaluable support from the Rotary Club of Makati Business District, BPI Foundation, and Kumu, among others.

With its initial target surpassed, the Hapag Movement is now focused on scaling its livelihood training programs nationwide to provide families with sustainable means of supporting themselves.

In order to guarantee that Filipino children obtain the right nutrition throughout their crucial early years, the program is also looking into measures to help combat child stunting.

The Hapag Movement is still dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger in the Philippines. In order to maintain and increase its impact, supporters can keep making contributions using the GlobeOne app and GCash.

Another International Nomination for Abi Marquez, This Time at the Telly Awards!

Abi Marquez is getting more and more fame around the world! Abi was just revealed as a double candidate at the renowned 45th Annual Telly Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in the world of video and television production, following her second Webby nomination. For the Filipino content creator who has been making waves on the global scene, this is yet another significant milestone.

The nominations honor Abi’s originality, genuineness, and dedication to promoting Filipino food internationally. What could be more thrilling? Since both nominees fall under the People’s Telly Awards, the winners will be chosen by public vote.

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens—whether it’s broadcast TV, digital, or social media. Over the years, they’ve become one of the most recognized platforms for creators, producers, and media companies around the world.

Today, the Tellys receive over 13,000 entries annually from all 50 U.S. states and 6 continents. Nominees and winners include a wide range of content—spanning branded campaigns, documentaries, immersive experiences, and digital-first series. Being nominated is no small feat—especially for an independent creator representing the Philippines on such a massive stage.

Here’s what Abi is nominated for:

Abi Marquez for People’s Telly Online Series, Shows & Segments Category

Abi is recognized for her overall work as a digital creator—think of it as a nod to the entire series of content she puts out. From quickfire recipes to deep dives into Filipino dishes, her videos strike the perfect balance between entertaining and educational. This nomination places her in the same category as Warner Bros. Discovery, Disney Experiences, and LANY Entertainment—huge names in global media.

What makes this even cooler is that Abi’s the only nominee in this list representing Filipino homegrown content on a global stage.

“Gordon Ramsay Doesn’t Like My Beef Wellington” for People’s Telly Social Video

In this viral video, Abi recreated the iconic Beef Wellington—one of Gordon Ramsay’s most famously difficult dishes—with a Filipino twist. But here’s the catch: she did it knowing full well Ramsay might not approve. The result? A video that’s equal parts hilarious, educational, and wildly entertaining.

The piece is nominated in the Social Video category, which honors outstanding short-form content designed for platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. This entry is up against work from Netflix Queue, CeraVe, Al Jazeera Digital, and more—basically the heavy hitters of internet storytelling.

Abi’s goal has always been to promote Filipino cuisine internationally. She’s becoming closer with each nomination. This is our opportunity to support her and help her win.

The public vote determines the People’s Telly category, and it is only open until April 19. To vote, just sign and click:

Photo from League of Corporate Foundations.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) should be incorporated into business plans and corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, according to the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF). LCF organizes the 2025 CSR Conference and Expo to facilitate this change by giving business executives a forum to network, develop, and promote sustainable growth.

I’m truly excited about this conference, as it presents a valuable opportunity to further empower the business sector in delivering more impactful and socially responsive services to its clients.

The Expo will be held from July 1 to 2 at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City, while the Conference will be held from July 1 to 3 at Dusit Thani Manila. With the subject “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity for Shared Prosperity,” it emphasizes how important it is for companies to incorporate DEI into their core business plans in order to make sure that CSR activities serve as a catalyst for sustainability, shared prosperity, and systemic change.

“Integrating DEI into business strategies is not only about corporate responsibility,” said Shem Jose Garcia, Chairperson of LCF and Executive Director of Vivant Foundation, Inc. “Businesses that prioritize DEI do more than adapt, they lead. By embedding DEI into their core strategies, they unlock new opportunities, drive meaningful change, and contribute to a more equitable and sustainable future for all. This includes intentional efforts to ensure the inclusion of under-represented groups, particularly women, persons who are differently abled, senior citizens, and indigenous people and people of various faiths and beliefs, and others.”

McKinsey & Company emphasizes that DEI should go beyond representation and be embedded in a purpose-driven strategy to drive inclusive leadership, innovation, and long-term success. A Boston Consulting Group study found that 43% of Southeast Asian companies, including those in the Philippines, now have diversity programs which shows an increase from 36% in 2020, reflecting growing regional commitment.

Attendees of the 2025 CSR Conference and Expo can look forward to thought-provoking discussions, networking opportunities, and actionable insights on integrating DEI into both CSR initiatives and overall business operations.

Recognizing Outstanding CSR Initiatives

As part of LCF’s commitment to elevating CSR excellence, the 2025 Guild Awards will honor outstanding initiatives of its members that have significantly impacted communities. These awards will be presented during the 2025 CSR Conference and Expo, highlighting best practices in corporate social responsibility.

Additionally, the Medal of Recognition will celebrate the impactful interventions of non-LCF members. This special award acknowledges businesses and corporate foundations that have made a difference across seven thematic areas: Arts and Culture, Disaster Resilience, Education, Environment, Enterprise Development, Financial Inclusion, and Health.

The Expo will showcase CSR innovations that highlight how the tight integration of DEI into core organizational and business strategies has brought about change for the better for the communities they work with, providing a space for businesses, NGOs, academe, youth groups, and government agencies to engage and collaborate.

LCF will also highlight key milestones of its flagship effort called ”LCF’s Initiative for Food Security, Nutrition, and Empowerment” or LIFE at the Expo. LIFE combines nutrition support, livelihood programs, and local capacity-building to combat child malnutrition. Through targeted interventions, LCF aims to reduce stunting among Filipino children.

In line with the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN), LIFE takes a province-by-province approach, starting with Basilan, where it is working alongside the provincial government and key stakeholders.

The 2025 CSR Conference and Expo is co-presented by Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. and co-organized with Metro Pacific Investments Corporation Foundation, Inc., and The SM, Henry Sy, and Felicidad T. Sy Foundations, Inc. It is also made possible through the support of BPI Foundation, Inc., Manila Water Foundation, Inc., Metrobank Foundation, Inc., Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc., and Vivant Foundation, Inc., with special thanks to Energy Development Corporation, Inc., Lopez Group Foundation, Inc., and Jollibee Group Foundation, Inc. LCF also thanks BDO Foundation, Inc., and Citizen of the World Philippines Foundation, Inc. and acknowledges Ayala Foundation, Inc., Ronald McDonald House Charities, Security Bank Foundation, Inc., Unilab Foundation, Inc., and Zuellig Family Foundation, Inc. for their support. These and other partners help foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing on sustainability and inclusivity.

Enhancing CSR Practice for an Equitable Future

In order to make a lasting impact, LCF encourages companies to take initiative, reconsider their CSR plans, and support DEI-driven growth through the 2025 CSR Conference and Expo. Garcia went on to say, “LCF remains dedicated to encouraging responsible CSR, assisting members and businesses in embracing DEI as a crucial driver of sustainable development in our nation.”
